Morissette is already engaged to Dave Lamar, singer and cinematographer. He takes all the videos and does the editing himself. They have a duet if you're interested, did a cover of Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi on CZcams. She was born in Cebu Philippines and transferred to Manila with her family since her gigs and shows are in Manila. Her parents are just normal Filipinos. We have to credit her English teacher back in school perhaps. You're right, though not a native English speaker she has perfect enunciation. I've listened to Sohyang and Dimash, incredible voices but i also noticed immediately they aren't native English speakers.
She has a way to pull you in and take you on, filling you with emotions of the song.

Regarding her enunciation, she's born and raised in the Philippines but she learned to speak English in school like many Filipinos.
I think she is just incredibly great, and not many filipino can properly enunciate in english. the way we learned things in the ph is quite different in the U.S it still takes a lot of self taught. I think the way she learned it really well is by singing, definitely not by school in the ph. No doubt, she work very hard to be one of the best.
Charlie, she is the best female singer in the world in my opinion and I am really annoyed that she isn't more popular in the US where I live. Why hasn't an agent signed her up and promoted her in America.

I must say i'm happy about that, because if she comes into the claws of the american music industry she maybe ends singing typical boring american pop of these days where people wouldn't even notice her talent because its just this lame hiphop crap or whatever.
Well, here in the Philippines, when it comes to a normal conversation, we often used Filipino/Tagalog/Taglish but when it comes to Business, Enforcing Laws, and Medium of Instruction in schools, English is a must to use. Even our constitution is all written in English. From Kindergarten up to college, English and Filipino were taught simultaneously. But yeah, not all Filipinos can enunciate English so well. Maybe some can but it is only valid for those who work as Call Center Agent in a BPO company.
When you hear her in interviews speaking English she has a typical Filipino accent....but yeah you can't tell in her songs...I assume it's something she's worked hard on and studied carefully when it comes to singing these covers. Amazing.
Yes, she is awesome. Speaking of diction and enunciation, watch Lea(Lay-uh) Salonga in Les Miserables 10th Anniversary singing On My Own, she is the goat! Lea is the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan, also the original Miss Saigon(Broadway Musical).

Charlie, Mori speaks 2 of the native languages plus English. Her home area is Cebu where they speak Basaya. They teach school in English and Tagalog. She speaks all three and sings in a number more without an accent! Just a note there are 195 languages and dialects in the Philippines and a population of 106 million smiling and generous people. There are probably 30 to 40 singers that come to mind from the Philippines that are world class and that is only scratching the surface. Mori is the best in my mind but many will argue for others there with conviction. Do your own research on the internet and you can fill the next two years of reactions on the results alone. But that its her language,they speaks filipino or tagalog but in the school all the material its english...so for me they have two first language...most of new generation in phillipines speaks english and many with good pronunciation specially those with education in private schools.

In philippines, English has been taught since kindergarten. So, moressette has lofty experience how the language works.

I think Morisette cover its better.The low notes of Mori are outstanding and probably she can equal Sohyang high notes...not all songs are good for Sohyang style....she its very good doing gospel style, in my opinion...I think Morisette its more open to any type of song...but both are incredible talented...and beutiful ladies.
@@joselajara1037 There things about all 3 that blow me away. I agree that Mori's lower register is a bit stronger, but there is just something about Sohyang's delivery that gets me every time. Starting with her performances like 'Hug Me' and 'Home' on the 'King of Mask Singer' right up to her most recent 'Begin Again' appearances such as 'Love Poem' and 'Ain't Got You', no matter the language I can feel her emotion. I agree that probably has something to do with her gospel roots.

Philippines consist and divided of many region which has their own dialect. Some area cannot speak the national tongue which is tagalog . We communicate in English. We are the English fluent speaking and writing as well country in Asia. If you watch beauty contest you will see that we are, except for the English speaking country that never needed and interpreter. English is our second national language. Filipinos seem to have a unique gift of singing in English that is nigh indistinguishable from a native speaker. It's one of the reasons why they dominate the club scene thruout Asia. They sound like a band that grew up in Kansas. Don't know about before the 1960s, but even then they could be found in every American military club in Asia that featured rock bands for the young guys.
Two things about Mori. For many years the Philippines had Spanish as (I think) a dominant 2nd language but eventually the country decided to use English as the number of Spanish speaking countries was getting smaller. Also, Cebu, where she comes from had an American military base and the Pinay/Pinoy seem to be quick learners, so the country went to English as the new dominant language to work with the Americans. I believe the change to English was from late 70's to early 80's, I'm quite sure your fans will correct me where I'm wrong. What i have noticed so far on CZcams is that they these days seems to use a weird mix where they start a sentence with like 5-10 words in english and then switch to their native language. Always very weird when you start read this in comments and then suddenly have no clue anymore whats going on.
For me this is the best cover I've ever heard... Sitting down, hitting high notes... She's not human at all.. She can give justice to any songs she covers even if it is ballad, pop, rock, Broadway etc.. She can whistle too👌 PHOENIX indeed.

Good comment at the end. I always wonder if those people live under a rock, but it seems a lot americans really don't see what happens outside the US and only know american pop and hip-hop.
That really has become so visible in the last year with the popularity of reaction videos, and so many americans suddenly for the first time saw bands that we in Europe knew for 20 years already, like Nightwish, Epic, Within Temption for example. Then of course there is Morissette and alot other singers from Asia and at least we have those Japanese (often female only) metal bands like Lovebites that just blow away everyones mind 🤘🏼😍
