- this is the most common issue with these generators when it comes to prosecuting ac voltage. in the past seven yeas this is the only second kohler unit with an ac output issue not caused by critters

I have a Kohler 20RZ ,when l turn light on generator stalls (no power output)?
The genset is set to 480v and it’s running at 61hz. One thing that it does is when it starts everything looks normal except that the voltage at the breaker is 230v even though the volt meter says 460v. I tried to do what your video says but the minute I take off the photo board cover off it dies so I can’t use the flashlight to test it.
to me it sounds like something is set up wrong, have you seen it power 480 volt equipment before?
dose it have a two lights on the controller, one says "upper scale" and the other says "lower scale"? the way kohler gets it's output reading is it measures a half tap so the controller is only seeing about 100 volts regardless of the output configuration being 208/240 or 480v. and on the voltage and amperage meters it has two scales, one for 240 and 208v and the upper scale is for 480v.

My Kohler 125kw generator doesn’t put out the 480v that it should. I’ve looked at your video but it doesn’t cover the problem that I’m having as I do get 220v out.
are you sure your reaching 60hz? at 58hz it will start dropping voltage.
is it strapped for 480v and not 240/208v
have you checked the output with a DMM above the main breaker?
if you have a "fast response" alternator
take the back of the dog hose off and you should see a black over thats about 7"x7" take that off, zip tie it up and you should see a 3" PCB, that's called a photo broad. turn off the main output beaker.
start the generator, point an incandescent flashlight at the spinning photo broad.(don't hold the light on it.) voltage should go to ceiling, about 600-700 volts. if not, the SCR and photo board is bad.

How old is the unit is it a fast response II or a FRX alternator?
If it's a fast response II look up tp-5353 lots of good info
Did you buy the new one from a dealer or online? Verify part numbers mach(box to part).
Did you do the flashlight test with an incident light? Did you verify the wiring going to the scr was correct?
How did you repair the old one?
My Kohler generator turns off after 2 minutes and sends the auxiliary failure alarm, what would be the reason?
My money is on the low coolant sensor. Top of coolant (and I mean fill it until it’s touching the cap) if that doesn’t work, try bypassing the sensor it might have failed

ok so in the US we dont have a RF0ZD we have RE0ZD.
assuming it's a RE0ZD
the photo broad should be GM34505
and the SCR is A-354299
always replace them in together, one can kill the other one.

How donI contact you? I replaced the photo sensor, LeD light and heatsink as on this video. Auxiliary light still comes on..
Excited the coils directly with 12v and generator puts out power temporarily.
