She was completely unprepared for this encounter and had zero irons in the fire, which might explain why she seems different. There’s basically no manipulation here

Let me explain: In the commentary, Hussie said that troll ancestry is a bond of aspiration, more than it is a bond of genetics. Ancestors are historical figures of similar traits trolls look up to. While both Vriska and Elwurd are Mindfang's genetic decendants (all female ceruleans are), neither seems to carry her legacy that much. Elwurd doesn't seem to know or care, while Vriska forces herself to be more like Mindfang to fit some alternian standards, rather than having it come naturally like it came for the likes of Kanaya and Terezi. Elwurd is Vriska's true ancestor. She is the person she actually wishes she was. Subconciously, she tries to imitate Elwurd, not Mindfang. If Vriska ever found out about her, she'd very quickly consider her her ancestor. So yeah. Elwurd is simply gay alien Dadbert. Thoughts, anyone?

Haven't read the new material, but in the original she didn't grow to be of a better nature; what happened was that she found a purpose, and was driven to it, but it seemed to me that if she was less prone to wanton acts of cruelty, it's because she was more focused in her quest to slay Lord English, and didn't have time for such distractions. It's different from her actually having a change of heart and morals, she didn't, she just used her screen time differently.
The guitar at the beginning sort of reminds me of that Megalovania song with the guitar. I’m really loving “Superego” and this fits her much better than the other theme song she has. Like she *is* tough, she *is* harsh, and she doesn’t mess around. Especially around Act 6 Act 6.
If I were to describe Vriska to someone who only knows her for Megalovania, I'd say this: _"She's like if you took Undyne & Muffet and combined them together."_
