Working on it! Some footage didn't work out this weekend. Hope to cobble together something worthwhile soon.

The positive probe is from a set of Fluke Y8140A. I did a review on these previously. They are extendible. The negative side is ordinary Fluke standard issue (TL71 or 75, I forget) The new probes that came with the meter are stashed.

All depends on exactly what you are doing but it's hard to beat an 87-5. You can buy a good nearly new one on eBay for maybe a bit over 200.00, save maybe 150.00 over a new one. The 87-5 is plenty rugged but if you need even tougher there's the 28 series II. Same features but waterproof and shock resistant. But the beeper is much softer. If you can get by with 4000 count deals can be had on 85 series III's on the 'Bay for around 95-100.00, but there's the sleep mode current drain 800uA vs. 35uA.

I'm in the market for a brand new Fluke. The ones I have are 18+ years old. I'm looking at a new 87 V but I'm wondering which model to get. Any suggestions?

The 87V is probably better for most people. Nearly as rugged as the 27, better features, True RMS.
