Marillion Live-Radio Broadcasts-1986

- This is actually two syndicated radio broadcasts from 1986. Westwood One broadcast a major chunk of a show from Hammersmith, but it ended right after "Heart of Lothian," which is to say after Side 1 of "Misplaced Childhood." Curiously, King Biscuit aired a partial Marillion show which picked up at "Blind Curve" and finished out the album. So, yes, "Waterhole" and "Lords of the Backstage" are missing, (As is "Lavender" plus "Blue Angel" from "Bitter Suite") but it's one heck of recording all around.
King Biscuit intros their segment as being from London, but Fish name checks Cardiff from the stage. Not sure which it is, although it sure sounds the same as the Westwood One Hammersmith show.

this......never.....gets......old.... utterly fantastic.
I recorded the Hammersmith part on the radio when it was broadcast. I remember the introduction by (I think) a Radio 1 DJ. It was my favourite "bootleg" of any band I liked at the time. The tape was stolen along with other tapes and I'm so glad to hear it again over 20 years later!
This sounds pretty fresh to my ears. I first listened to them in 87 at my 21. Loved this post man. It's a jewel!!!!
The world has much to learn bout them. Marillion and fish,; long life for all of you, my loves!!!
Best band ever .still gives me goose bumps to here them live
Best version of Emerald Lies I ever heard.

Yes the first one is from Hammy Odeon 1984, remember it well it was the last of 3 they did there(yes I did go to all)....I remember it and the preview of some of Misplaced...did not know the finished product would be so good tho...thanks for posting

Le meilleur de Marillion
Un des meilleurs bootlegs!!! One of the best bootlegs
Very good quality
1st part of this is from 1984...first time they played first side of misplaced childhood....its one of the discs from the 'early stages' boxset
It certainly is from that show and the Hammersmith Odeon Friday 14/12/1984. Lavender hadn't even been written at that stage. It was widely broadcast at the time having been recorded by the BBC (I believe) I went the following night and unfortunately they didn't come back on and play He Knows You Know. I remember being green with envy back at school on Monday as some of my friends had gone on the Friday night. Anyway, still one of my favourite shows ever and Emerald Lies was played both nights.
Melhor época da banda.
Fish no vocal fazia a diferença.
Depois virou banda de baile.
Great band whit fish like vocal .....
super wonderful..
Grandes Baladas ,ùnicos no seu Género Mùsical ! O sair de uma longa Dépressão (...) Obrigado
Essa banda é show!!!!
If you're going to clap... clap in time to the beat of the song.
Great quality upload. Nice one
Thank you! Cheers!
This is definately a unique early try-out version of Misplaced Childhood. The lyrics on certain parts are also different. Also Fish sings at the beginning of Garden Party "Hello London" instead of "Hello Dad", so the recording must definately have taken place in London. Many thanks for this upload. It's really unique.
+Rene Huisintveld Thanks! My time in radio gave me access to some pretty cool stuff. Happy to share!
He also sung Hello (place city here) at various gigs like Milton Keynes at the Garden Party in June 1986 which was a stunning show, he seems to have changed the lyric with each venue.
Cinderella search .........is my favorite ....
Emerald lies thou!...bad ass version!...
I love cinderella search this version....
As far as I am aware it's from the Hammersmith Odeon (now Apollo).
The second half of the Misplaced Childhood album is definitely taken from a show in Cardiff 1986.
Jawohl fish ist der geilste solo
🎸⚡💥🔥🤘👊👏👍👍
39:30 wow! What's happening ?!
I think, and I hope I got this right, the early version of side 1 is hammersmith 84 cos I had a bootleg of if years ago. It's got the early draught lyrics. And I remember that bootleg the side b material was identical to the lp version. It seems cos this video is a bit hit and miss (apologies to the channel! And thanks for posting it at all ) it seems the side b material could be any version from any year 84,86,88, clearly from Cardiff though Fish namedrops Glasgow in it too.
@Abdal-Hit and miss? This is literally exactly what was broadcast on Westwood One (Assassing through Curtain Call) and on The king Biscuit Flower Hour (Blind Curve thru White Feather.) I know because I recorded the material directly from the vinyl copies in the radio stations I worked in.
Bad ass
I prefer the lyrics to this early version of kayleigh to the later, they somehow feel a bit gritty then the final, also like the fact that lavender is not included, i feel it flows better.
i was at one of these shows at hammersmith, not sure if this one, as i have the recording of it on tape from the friday rock show.
The versión of Misplaced Childood is the same as the Childhood Rehearsal bootleg CD. This bootleg version is a 1984 record.
Despite the American introducing it stating it was, "Live from London," the King Biscuit section is definitely Cardiff. Not only does Fish reference 'a welcome in the hillside', he also changes the lyric in White Feather to 'Cardiff'. Twice.
Now, I know Fish did a lot of drugs in those days but I doubt he'd mistake London for Cardiff three times.
Would have been recorded on either 12th or 13th January 1986 at St David's Hall.
👍 Ja 🍺🍺🍺♥️
35:20 ...... Ronnie James Dio!!! jajajjajaj
I'm from Indonesian ...2019...who is listening....?
