Does your Chrysler start, run for 3 seconds and die. It has no alarm but sure acts like it?

- 1997 Sebring acting like the alarm is triggered. The scanner showed that the anti-theft was shutting off the fuel pump. The car has no factory alarm and a hot line told me, I would need to replace 2 computers. Two days later, a lot of thinking and research. I finally figured it out. If you’re having these issues, with this video, mine was a simple fix, maybe yours will be also.

Thank you so much for this tip, I'm gonna do it tomorrow morning, tonight I left the hospital after been there 6 day, and when I went to pick up my meds from the pharmacy my dodge caravan suddenly die, the I try to started again then nothing happen, no crank no sound of nothing, then I wait few minutes then start back again 3 seconds later die again and no crank no sound like your battery dry out, but it have lights on the dashboard, then wait few minutes and start again, so I'm gonna check this tip out and see if it fix the problem, thank you. My deal happened when I park the van in an incline after that that's when die the first time then it ran for a mile and shuts off again then I couldn't started back again, so I have to tow it to my house.
This is a great tip I'm working on the exact same issue this was very helpful
Glad it helped
Thanks for your advice. Helped a friend get there 96 Intrepid started. They werent using the key faub as it appeared to be broke and the car didnt have an audible alarm. The car would start and then stall, after searching for the key faub, walla, it started once the car was unlocked.
Thanks for the tip. That’s awesome for making the video !!!
You’re welcome
Awesome tip! Thank you!
I have a 2008 300 hemi Chrysler when I use the automatic start it stays running for 15 seconds and shuts off What problems could I possibly have that's causing that
2013 200 has been dieing after a start more consistently now. Used to be every once in awhile. Also sometimes gets stuck in a loop where the starter stays on and the car doesn't start. What I found is that the car will start and stay on when I exit the car and remote start it. It stays on when I put the key in.
Cool, got one acting just as described, thanx
Good luck
I got a question if that’s okay. 2012 Chrysler 300s V6 the cars speedometer lights up and says ‘ push to start ‘ when the car is locked and the key is plenty far away to not trigger it. It’s got a charged battery, new key battery and no obvious bad anything. The car just keeps keying on about every 5-10 seconds by itself non stop. But the car runs and drives fine, it just will empty the battery if you don’t remove the battery terminal to prevent it from keying on non stop.
Sorry, I don’t have any experience with that.
damn, in 10 years they haven't fixed the problem?? but at least they improved it, and now you get 2 seconds instead of 1/2 second on pre odb models.
Thank you good sir
You’re welcome
Would this be possible on the 3.6 pentastar 2017 and later V6? My wife's van kills itself when starting up randomly and runs great otherwise. No one can figure to the point of a class action lawsuit of owners invoking lemon law on thousands of them.
I’m not certain on that one. I had an Aviator that gave me fits. It did exactly that and it turned out to be a bad coil.
It throws fuel rail low fault now and then. It does not lock in, just intermittent. So coil probably doesn't throw that fault. People are throwing fuel pumps, fuel sensors, plugs, filters, shaft RPM sensors, fuel / air pressure sensors, PCM updates, new PCMs, etc. No real known solution yet. Crazy.

Similar issue with a 2014 200. One key battery is low and may not open the door; when that key is used, stalling may occur. When the other key is used, it's fine. Could this be a "Security feature" to prevent theft?
Its very possible
@@greasyhandsauto-shaunbutte9726 Tried a "local" locksmith, they wanted $211 for the privilege. Check with the dealer and it was $100. Likely going that way.
@@darkman237 211 is ridiculous
I have a Chrysler 200 that’s won’t crack because of the anti theft system do you think this might be the issue ???
It was for me.
Hello how do I disconnect the alarm that keeps draining battery on Chrysler Concord XLI 2003
@@lovejesus186 you might be able to pull a fuse or unplug it but, these newer cars are pretty sophisticated. I don’t know if you can. It may not start when you’re done. unless it’s an aftermarket one.
Question did it die all eight times ? When you were trying to set a code ?
Yes
My little red light was flashing in my truck turns out flipping the door switch lock back and fourth fixes it(2008 dodge ram 1500 leramie)
What about if it just dies on you while driving and don’t start but crank ? Could that be a fuel pump ?
@@fishjunkie249 yes
Volume is kind of low
I know, sorry. I left it because it’s only at the beginning
I'm having the same issue, but I think this started with the anti theft sytem being triggered.
My car was locking and unlocking on its own, so I removed the battery from the key, I open the car just with the key. So once in a while, the car starts runs for 2 seconds and then stalls.
Try opening the passenger door with the key. On some Chrysler products that turns the anti theft off. Short of that you will need to likely replace the BCM
@@greasyhandsauto-shaunbutte9726 mine stalls out in the morning takes a while to start up . once warm it’s good no codes . But my passenger side lock starts to go up and down on its own. When I try to unlock it with the key . Maybe the Anti theft ? BCM?
@@MrRila84 could be either.
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee that starts for 3 seconds then shuts off and it says no communication when I try to read the codes any idea on the issue?
Yes, check your fuses, try using the key to lock and unlock the passenger door. Unlocking the passenger door used to disarm the Jeep alarm. Oh, try using a different key, if you have one.
@@Sun_god_luffy32 it definitely sounds like something in the alarm system. Do you have access to a scanner?
@@greasyhandsauto-shaunbutte9726 my Jeep doesn’t have a alarm system
@@Sun_god_luffy32 I think it has a passive alarm. How many keys do you have? The car I was working on didn’t have an alarm either but, the computer was turning off the fuel pump.

I'm wondering if you, or anyone has had this issue in the past. My 2006 chrysler 300 is having a slightly similar issue, but not all the time. When restarting a warm vehicle, and mainly only after refueling the vehicle, it will start and run a few seconds, then shut off as if I turned the key off. It will run progressively shorter each time I attempt to start it. I will then often have to unhook the battery, touch the two cables together for a minute or two, and try to restart after reconnecting the battery. Sometimes, it will work, but most of the time, it will not.
Sometimes, when I do get it running, the red key alarm light will be flashing, and the car will be in limp mode and only have 3rd gear. When I finally do get the vehicle to stay running right, it drives perfectly fine, with no issues at all.
Finally, most of the time, if the car sits for 10+ hours, it starts and runs like it's never had an issue in its life.
The batteries in both keys have been replaced recently and are fully charged. It does have one CEL for an EGR issue, P0404. I changed out the EGR valve, but it did not help. I'm thinking it will come down to removing and cleaning out the intake.
It sounds like the EVAP vent solenoid is bad. That’s usually what causes a car to not run after filling up. Next time that happens, hold the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and see if you can get to stay running.
Did you ever get different keys then the originals? This can end up being a menace!!
I didn’t, I have run into that before.
Did this work for anybody else
right now my 99 300m doesn't run at all. she popped her PCM. so until i get the new computer its a 3 thousand pound paper weight.
Dang
I like your video but your camera person is scared of you. They started breathing heavy when you told them about the finger! It was hard to pay attention after the heavy breathing!
