- Can you tell that I was SO anxious to send the kids to school? I was very worried what the other kids were going to say to them regarding our family and the news. I was worried they would be made fun of or given a hard time. To my surprise their schools, their teachers, and the kids were so so good to them. I was very relieved. I was also so worried to be home and how I was going to navigate it. Things have been going so much better than I could have imagined besides the whole mouse situation.

When I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease, my dad told me to never be embarrassed or ashamed because everyone’s got something going on in their life that they don’t want people to know about or are embarrassed of and if they want to make fun of you for your issues then it just means they are deflecting from their issues. That has stuck with me the last 10+ years and I have never been ashamed of my illness and use it to teach people about invisible illnesses. So I cannot agree more with your advice, Bonnie!
Prayers for you!!! Genuinely. My husband had his colon removed in Nov because of Ulcerative Colitis. Both are rough. 🤍
That’s great advice I also suffer from crohns and try to block it out because it’s still not under control. My dad passed when I was a child so that’s some great advice to hear :)
Bonnie….you have so much positivity and determination naturally in you…what you have been dealt with and handled over the past twelve months would break many. Never ever doubt your inner voice and ability to rise above. Your children are going to be okay…they have amazing parents and you are both instilling in them the courage and self worth to make the right life choices. That view 😍😍 Mountains and hills will always be special to me. I grew up in the Netherlands which is not only mostly below sea level, but is super flat. From my childhood window you could see the wind turbines across the border in Germany even though that was at least 10 miles away, because that's how flat it was! Thanks for your advice, Bonnie. My inner child also needed it still. And you're unfortunately forced to get lots of practice in this area... Good luck with everything! You can do it!
As a kid our house was surrounded by Cornfields in Indiana. Mice LOVED our warm house. There was not much we can do about it. You live on a beautiful properity and it used to be a field. I would get outdoor and indoor cats.

That's what I have been doing my little family. We have been together for 17 and married 8 of those. We have two little boys - 5 and 2 1/2 years old and we tell them everyday amongst craziness in life and the drama we are dealing with our extended family - just breathe, do what's right for us (and not them) our little family and take one step and day at a time! 👊💛

Hey Bonnie and Joel. One thing that helps get rid of mice and keep Em away is pure. Mint oil spread it around your house inside outside.
They have a dog and mint oil is not good for pets. I know the sticky glue traps work well, but they have to be careful where they place them because of Lady.

Bonnie, you are literally the realist and most authentic person that I watch on the Internet and the person that I resonate with the most soul wise… I don’t even think that makes sense, but I feel like you are the closest representation to who I am as a person and I’m sorry that people are mean to you on the Internet and I have my own insecurities, but you are so beautiful inside and out and so is your family and I can only imagine the stress that you guys are feeling coming home to a mouse and buzzed houseand you guys will just have to take it one day at a time and just know you have people out here that love you guys and will be a support when needed while others may be tearing you down.

It really is sad that the rude people online were not talk respect and manners as kids. I see it all over in the world today and worse than ever. We were talk respect and not to make fun of others or bully others growing up. You do have to be strong and have a mind of your own and not let what others say bother you. People will always talk, let them. They'll have to answer for what they did one day. They should watch what they say about others, because it tends to come back at them one day. Have a great day back at school kids!! Stay strong and ignore the ugly comments. Keep true friends.... they will never treat you this way. Hopefully, nobody is judging mice in the house. If nobody is in a house for a while, things will try to take over.... that just happens.

Schools are wrapping it up in May for summer vacation! Summer here we come!!

I remember I couldnt even get my kid excused for a few funerals that happened back to back within the school year. However, I was surprised to know parents can opt to online school their kids in the middle of the school year then return them to school right before it ends for summer.

I can’t imagine what you are going through. Absolutely normal what you’re feeling. Your body is in super stress, high alert mode. The smallest things will feel like the biggest things right now. Your husband and children are very understanding and supportive of you. Now you have to give yourself the same compassion. Hang in. One day at a time, maybe one hour, or one room at a time, with lots of prayers. You will get through it, and you’ll be able to look at it through your rear view mirror, soon enough.
Hey Bonnie. Definitely make sure you have extra Lysine each day. It really helps with the coldsores. Means i don't have to take valciclovir nearly as much. Not to stop yourself from being bullied but so you feel good!

Bonnie, the time and care you take in speaking to your children will make waves when they are adults. Their inner dialogue will be echos of what you told them as children. You create a safe space for them to think independently. Sometimes life challenges you and makes things overwhelming when you least expect it. Just know that you and Joel are great parents and adults. Remember that once the house is clean, you both can make it feel like a cozy home again!

Bonnie I feel for you. I get cold sores also. I find if I keep putting on chapstick or Vaseline on them it helps them go away. I think it as long as you keep them moisture they don't crack or hurt as bad.
Your words have such meaning behind them. My son is now almost 30 and everyday I had to tell him not to listen to anyone that say anything mean to him for being in a wheelchair. Your right. Kids and adults will say some mean things. I just tell my son you be the best you can be and not worry what others say.

I get cold sores too and Valtrex works great! Take when you first feel cold sore coming on and it’s gone in a couple days! I hate mice and I feel for ya on that one. Hang in there!

I tend to get star-struck and shy if I see someone, even military personal. It’s so strange, I know, and then I regret feeling so afraid to say Hello or something nice to them. I hope that people don’t feel the same way I do and that could be the reason why some folks don’t approach you thinking they might interrupt you or invade your privacy. Now I feel more aware of how doing this might be sad for you, and I would never want to ignore anyone on purpose, but doing it out of apprehension of bothering you to not say anything at all.
I have grown to love your sweet & loving family so much. You and Joel are the sweetest and most authentic people, and remarkable parents, your children are truly wonderful and so sweet.
