Jackie and a shadow have moved up in the world. They have their main lodging and now are building their vacation home! Adorbs.
@kate4121 Indeed! 😍🥰❤
Jackie and Shadow have been using that dead tree to pretend to build nests as a method of bonding for years now. Yes Eagles do move nests sometimes but it is pretty unlikely that they would actually choose a tree like that. I get it though. When I started watching 5 years ago I was a little concerned too. Then I started hanging out and reading the FOBBV live cam chat and they educated me on soooo many eagle things, including this. Also, Jackie has been working on building out the back porch of the nest for years now. That's why the large awkward Lumber Jackie stick disappears at the bottom of the cam out of view. They both look seriously invested in the regular nest to me.
@roximama Yes, you are right! Thanks a lot for your comment!❤️🦅🦅
Jackie & Shadow are so busy building their new nest 😋 Nice video…love hearing the sounds of the bird whistles in the Big Bear Valley. Awesome video Baiba. Thank you for sharing.
@margaretcruz7003 Thanks a lot for your nice comment! I'm glad that you like this video. ❤️❤️🦅🦅
I'm not Baiba 😁
Boy these 2 know how to build a big sturdy nest
@susanneil3221 Indeed! ❤️🦅🦅😍
Thanks for this wonderful video update❣️❣️❣️ It has it all… our beloved eagles, sticks, two nest, roost tree, Steller’s Jays thinking they can fill that big nest & Fiona❣️❣️❣️❣️ Great video on a beautiful day😍😍😍
@theck672 Thank you very much for such a nice comment! ❤️❤️😍🥰🦅🦅🐿️
@@BirdlifeOdyssey you’re very welcome… thanks for all the videos❣️
Good morning my friends, you are looking beautiful and very busy as usual. I sent my love. Keep up the great work. ❤♥️🦅♥️
I think it's great they can have to nests! One for them for some alone time and other nest for them and the soon to be eaglets❤🦅
@cherilynlewis8871 Yes, you are right! ❤️🦅🦅😍
If they move can we have the camera moved? These two truly got me through the dreary winter. Miss seeing them everyday. 😢
@fireball5898 I hope so, but it is up to the camera owners Friends of Big Bear Valley. I'm sure they would do it. However, I think there will be no need for that as the most probable scenario is that Jackie and Shadow will continue breeding in their main nest.
Thanks a lot for your comment! ❤️🥰🦅🦅
I really appreciate the videos! Thank you
Me too!! 🦅❤️🦅❤️
@fireball5898 & @edwardizhonig204 Thank you very much for your nice comments! ❤️😍🥰🦅🦅🐿️
I've been practically hollered at in certain chats when I've brought up that Eagles will create an auxiliary nest off a failed season. In the wild when observed for several seasons prior to "cams"; if there's been multiple failure to hatch, that imprints (for lack of a better term) on the Eagle (or any wildlife for that matter). They aren't human, so they don't think environment or metabolic issues, their instinct drives them to what we would call "fertile" ground. Meaning a new location. They won't necessarily give up their territory, but they will move throughout their established territory. Also, if there's been heavy predation or interference in the rearing of their young, they may seek out a new nesting location to raise their offspring. This is a very natural process.
@Wendy_Blank- Hi friend! Interesting! I read from Sandy that Jackie and Shadow have been working on a nest there since 2022 I think. So who knows what will happen! Enjoy! ❤️🦅❤️🦅🥰
Thank you for the video I love watching them
@pattimickelson9861 Thanks a lot for your comment!❤️😍🦅🦅
This is a big plus. I feel SOMETHING is wrong in that nest itself. No reason they should keep having failed hatches. They are too good as parents. I am happy their instinct is telling them to go for a new home. I pray for them daily to be the parents they are destined to be. Many happy hatches, a beautiful new home, and good luck to two of the very best of the species.
The cold weather is killing them. I don't think being in the new tree that is even more exposed to the snow and rain is not gonna help. The eggs have to be kept at 105 degrees at all times while incubating and there's no way that happened when it was 20 degrees and Jackie had 2 inches of snow covering her on multiple occasions. There's also a nest on Catalina island, only 100 miles from Big Bear, that had all the eggs hatch. They're at sea level and the weather is mild, while Jackie and Shadow are high up in the mountains in what is essentially a skiing town.
@candyr7299 Yes, they deserve to be parents and let's hope the next breeding season will be lucky for them. They use this new nest for bonding purposes and they are not likely to spend the next breeding season there.
Thanks a lot for your comment! ❤️🦅🦅😍
Stellar digging a hole ha ha!
Should I stay or should I go.LOL!
@sharonhollock3040 Exactly! 🤣😍🥰
Gosh! That's a tough one to guess... probably late autumn/early winter will give us more of a clue! Had things gone otherwise, this would be the waning of the nesting season, and eagles bring nesting material to the end. Is the alternative nest a bonding exercise? Only time will tell :) Thanks for showing other wildlife too!
@Luceforall Yes, the alternative nest is most probably a bonding exercise. Thanks a lot for your great comment! 😍🥰

I wonder if a stick or two will be brought from original nest to vaca home! Lol😊
@CissyBrazil 😊❤️🦅🦅🥢
Oh, Shadow, bring some fluff. These sticks look so uncomfortable 😫
@rosebrenner8146 I'm sure he will. 😍🥰
They will not need fluff since they will not be laying eggs until maybe January
@@kevinduveneck1504 we all know that, loosen up
@@kevinduveneck1504They still bring fluff from time to time. It is not only for laying eggs. It is also a part of their bonding over the 'nestoration' ritual.
I hope J & S are not going to move to a new nest. They may prefer privacy rather than a camera in their face tho. It is not exactly nature friendly..
@kimingram7649 I think they will stay in their main nest for the breeding season. Thanks a lot for your comment! ❤️❤️
