  • Here's how I clean out my naturalistic enclosure for my mice! I will do a big deep clean like this once a month, but every week they are spot cleaned which includes wiping down wheels, and cleaning up areas they particularly like to toilet in!

      Too much work. With my cat I pretty much just had to go pat her whenever she demanded pattings, wash her ceramic soup bowls she eats out of once a week (30 seconds) and wash her trays whenever she feels like.

    Omg the mouse shimmying up the pole. Died of cuteness. Beautiful cage set up. The thing about setups like this, that ppl don't realize is, it is really enjoyable to clean and rearrange. And so worth the effort to watch your babies thrive in an environment you have provided

    I'm contemplating this type of a cage next, my current single male mouse has a traditional wire cage with tube tunnels. But I love the look of the glass tank/terrarium and they are more roomy usually too. But I dreaded the cleaning! I didn't know it could be this easy. I'm just used to removing the top part of the current wire cage and washing both parts directly under tap. But once you showed us how easily a terrarium can be cleaned, I think I'm going for it! Thank you!

    Our cat brought us 3 baby mice. 🤦‍♀️ we tried to locate the nest but we can’t find it. So now I’m currently taking care of mice that appear to be about 2-3 weeks old. One is much smaller than the other two and is the only one really interested in kitten formula. They have all started nibbling on oats and it looks like they can drink from the bowl. We bought food and set it in the cage but no one has touched it yet. The smallest one drinks the least if at all from the bowl. She’s also the friendliest and wants to be held as soon as she sees the hand come down. I think the other two might be male. Anyway, now that we have them, we are hooked and plan to keep mice as soon as these ones are grown enough to release. I’m a bit nervous about keeping wild mice, except the smallest of the three is so friendly it will be hard to let her go. I just want to say thank you for your videos. I had no idea how awesome mice could be.

      Darcy, DONT USE ECO EARTH!!! Leopard geckos can get respiratory infections from the dust! Put them on paper towel or tile. Very easy to clean.
      You mentioned a mat, those can collect bacteria and trap claw tips like nobody else and are hard to clean.

    How often do you recommend cleaning out my mouse cage? I just got him it’s just one male mouse he has deep bedding and 450 square inches of floor space. I clean my hamsters out once a month but wasn’t sure if it’s the same for mice as they smell a lot more

    • @Emiology

    Hi, this is a question that I’ve been researching but I have found many different answers. How many mice can you put into a 20 gallon tank, and what’s the best size?🐭

    • @kimmetje8091
      @kimmetje8091 Před 4 lety +1

      In my opinion, 3 is the minimum and the maximum amount of mice for a 20 gallon tank. It’s quite a small enclosure, so I really don’t suggest putting any more mice in there. But this is just my opinion. See how you like it and how your mice feel in it😊

      @Emiology  Před 4 lety +1

      No it doesn’t 🙂 if I saw any issues I’d add a third wheel but they don’t tend to use them much. They prefer running and climbing around the cage and if I packed it full of wheels I wouldn’t be able to add much else in

      Male mice are aggressive to eachother, I think you're thinking of rats? Rats you can't keep in a glass container like this because the ammonia build up can kill them. Mice you can.

I wanted to ask what kind of bedding do you use for your cute little ratties! Also I love this whole naturalistic theme. I really wanted to do that for my rats but it's so hard to find things that work xD So I ended up giving up on that idea.

    Once I get rid of my guinea pigs, I'm thinking about getting 2 or 4 mice. Should I do a naturalistic or a more colorful cage? Could I use a clear reptile cage? Emiology - I can't take care of them anymore. My dad hates them and treats them horribly. They have to stay in the garage and we have no room in my house, and I want to give them much happier lives and homes. I am keeping 2, both father and son. Thank you for responding, although!

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  Před 4 lety

      @@sqyie If theres certain reasons such as smell etc that makes your dad treat them badly, i suggest holding off on getting mice because it will be a similar problem and its not fair on the mice. Its completely up to you what type of cage you do though, you can use a reptile tank, the more crowded the better when it comes to things in the cage it makes them feel secure, and you want a good thick layer of bedding a few inches deep :)
