    Bama and Nebraska need to play again.

      lol. How about playing Georgia during the regular season. Bama got to skip Georgia back when they had some guy named Walker. Funny how that worked out for Bama.

    This game was the season opener and was televised primetime Saturday night on ABC. Victory was sweet because Nebraska was our only loss in 1977.

    I grew up in the 1970s. I think that 1978 Alabama team was the best team Coach Bryant ever had.

    The Bear and his famous mumble... not that I care. This is still awesome. I am lucky enough to have an autographed picture of Coach Bryant, which I treasure. If my wife said "it's me or the picture" well, I'd miss her...

    I I remember correctly, Rutledge threw 5 interceptions the year before vs Nebraska in Lincoln, early season game, and did not throw another interception the rest of the year.

      My first one also to see in person. Those were great years to be an Alabama student. Kind of like my oldest son's 4 years at Alabama between 2010 and 2013...or right now in 2021.

    At any rate it was great as a youngster to witness the "red forest defense" completely dominate the Huskers.

    I was at that game .. The 99 yard drive started right in front of me ... That was aa greater drive as I ever seen .

    • @tolivr
      @tolivr Před 2 lety

      I was there and I think I was in the student section. I thought the drive started 99 yards away from me and ended in my end zone. All I really remember is it being 99 yards and Nebraska, with RBs I M Hipp and Jarvis Redwine, never did anything after that drive. Alabama won 20-3 scoring all 20 as unanswered points.
