  • This video was taken 20 years ago featuring the early 1970s D-Types and a good look at some underground stations. Some S-Bahn shots too. As usual I have added interest with appropriate German film theme music and still images. At the end is a special bonus.

    These trains are not completely gone. Some are now running in North Korea. 4 are now used on the U55, but with major renovations.

      Those Trains ARE in Berlin, because there are not enough Trains....

    Surprised you didn't go in the late 80s or early 90s before the soviet union fell.

      I went in 1989 for a few hours (to the east side). Unforgettable, but didn't do video in those days. There was an 'ice cream' cart in Alexsanderplatz, and they tried to pass off lousy tasting brown ice as choc. ice cream. Also learned that the word for jewelry is schmuck! At least I had a good long trip Havana in 2013. North Korea is off the bucket list since everything I would want to see is well documented at 1080p. I paid for a ticket to Kiev, but got it refunded when the pandemic cancelled everything.
