A few clarifications: here in Montreal, we call: “chips”, “French Fries”.
If you don’t have cash on hand at St-Viateur Bagel Bakery, they now have an ATM (just be prepared to pay $fee - better to bring cash). Not far from the bakery is St-Viateur Bagel Café on Mont-Royal Ave, where you can buy bagels with toppings instead of DIY at the Bakery.

Love Montreal smoked beef but it isn’t pastrami! I adore Montreal and visit every few months! Fabulous food, sights, museums, Ritz Carlton, bagels, restaurants, shopping, you name it!

Montreal smoked meat is NOT PASTRAMI! It is spiced, cured and smoked beef brisket, unique to Montreal and a legacy of several East European traditions.

Montreal Smoked Meat is aged/cured over 2 weeks. When you order, ask for medium fat and mustard. Lean is too dry!

Many people who were born here or who have moved here do not speak French and have no intention of learning it. Montreal is de facto a bilingual city. The use of English or French will depend on what neighbourhoods you go to or which people you interact with.
We have 2 French-speaking universities and 2 English-speaking ones. We have TV stations and newspapers in either language. In fact, the local news in the papers or on TV/Radio will be different if it is presented in English or French. They call it "The Two Solitudes". The English and French-speaking communities know little about each other.

That’s a that happens when you accommodate yourself with a military occupation. Sometimes resistance is passive, sometimes collaboration is voluntary.
Rarely does the colonizing force give a crap about those who were there before unless threatened by revolution or social upheaval.
      The biggest guns always win.

Anglophones or those who decide to settle in Quebec, the only province whose official language is French, who refuse to learn French or use it, demonstrate pure contempt and obtuseness, even racism towards the French-speaking majority, under the pretext that Canada is a bilingual country. In reality, only French speakers are bilingual, in this damned and hypocritical country that is Canada. Would they do the same if they settled elsewhere in the world? Vive le Québec libre, indépendant et français !⚜

Toronto is better than Montreal….it is more cleaner, and aesthetic.
