I work for a dealership in Zambezi Pretoria.
My boss buys plenty cars from we buy cars all high mileage all has problems most was cut and join. Most if not all these we buy cars have issues we just cut the mileage do a very very good valet when you see the car seats roof lining you'll say it's fresh. From there we sell and buy more. I personally won't buy from we buy cars. We know 4 agents working as buyers for we buy cars we get enough stock from them directly because we buy cars offers the people little then we just commission the guys R500. 00 per car and off we go. Remember we buy cars is part of sa taxi finance and sa taxi has a bad name in the industry its called transaction capital
Hectic!😬🙂
Thanks for this..... reall good food for thought
@@MuziSambo There was a group of guys who I think were an organization or something(Try looking them up). What those guys do is check the real mileage of used cars and they started offering this service because they have found out that there is a way to change reflected car mileage by altering what's reported on the odometer. Be extremely careful with used cars.
hmmmmmm interesting
Lol as a Pretorian!!! I agree, my dad has warned me about Zambezi!!!!
“Don’t skip the ads guys we need money for repairs” 😂
😂😂🤣💔 I swear
I bought a 330d E90 new in 2007 and have done 386500km and still running strong. My average fuel consumption was 6 L/ 100km, from about 300k it increased slightly to 6.9 L / 100km till current. It’s an M57 tu2 engine and still stock no mods or tuning. Other than regular service the following was changed
Vibration damper
Voltage regulator on alternator
New battery
Shocks at 200k km
Control arms
Reset steering angle on my active steering following a doggy wheel alignment by a reputable tire place.
This car has given me 15 yrs of great motoring and driving enjoyment
Hi Dumi ,I've been making research about E90,those last forever...they are very reliable.
Was this new?
@@mazibukomail yes, bought new, I am the only owner and driver. Serviced at dealership till end of maintenance plan at 100k then started own servicing every 15k. Key here is using fully synthetic oil, expensive but saves lot of headaches along the way. Brake pads, brake shoes (for rear handbrake) fuel and cabin and air filters bought at Goldwagen. I did front wheel bearings at 300k replaced like for like SKF. This car has been a true workhorse, used as a daily and long distance also.
@@stannxumalo8034 yes they are but you need to be a little bit mechanically inclined. For example never use a dead battery or replace one with lower amp rating. If your car’s system voltage is all over the show due to flat or damaged battery it will shut itself down or fry your electronic modules, otherwise these cars are solid if they haven been tampered with. The Diesel engines are bullet proof and super frugal, the 3L is a peach if you can find a good one.
Your fuel consumption of 6 - 6,9 L/100 km is amazing and unbelievable to be honest when your consider that the car has 190 kW and around 500 NM of torque. For the last 4 months I have been driving a 2019 VW polo GTI DSG 2.0 TSI and I struggled to get less than 10 L/100 km. But maybe it is because I live in the township with a lot of speed humps and junctions, Wena what type of roads do you spend most of you time and what consumption do you get in the city or township driving?
The next review should be: entry level new cars VS old flagship cars
I'm with you there bro, make it daar bra Muzi
Stupid thinks are interesting 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My experience thus far: I bought an F30 320d MSport last year in May. So far I have spent R6k on the 80k-100k gearbox oil change. I did this at ZF - they make the gearbox for BMW for those that do not know - they are based in Edenvale Gauteng, interestingly the technician told me that they see high mileage F30's with 200 000 km plus going strong. I paid around 3k for a full service kit which was just parts which I got from BMW Midrand - got a BMW Fanatics Forum Discount hence price was very close to Goldwagen prices, I did the service myself but it is not expensive at a mechanic, estimate say around R2k if you not a DIY person. Front brakes cost me R3.2k for parts, pads, sensor and discs included, purchased from IMCOMEX in Pretoria, easy task so did it myself after watching a few CZcams videos but got quotes for around R1k from various mechanics. Expected on going costs are annual oil service, overestimate at say around R2k in parts per year. I upgraded the BMW screen to carplay which I orded from Aliexpress, it even came with a aftermarket reverse camera, this camera replaces the existing boot lid handle, camera is built into handle. It looks factory and no one can even tell it is aftermarket, cost me 5k including shipping and taxes. Purchase price was R230k for a 2014 320d Msport with 120 000 km on the clock, private sale so I took a mechanic with me to view and test drive the car, a bargain for a vehicle which was more then double when launched. My girlfriend drives a 2019 Suziki Swift GLX which cost us around R200k brand new, you cannot even compare the value for money. The f30 is such a dream to drive. I budget yearly for unexpected costs, I am currently putting around R2k per month into an emergency fund. I can do this as the car is not financed. So far I have put 16 000km on this car. Drove it to DBN, Nelspruit and St Lucia. The car is reliable, safe and has plenty of power, best of all consumption is around 4.7 l/100km on the highway and 6.5l/100km mixed driving. There has been some unexpected small issues but nothing worthwhile mentioning. I would recommend an F30 diesel.
where in edenvale boss?
Bought my 320D F30 2012 new 0km. Still rock solid to date. Coming to 340000KM on the clock. 1 full tank from Jozi to Cape Town easy. Service the car every 6 months. Trust when they say “Take care of the car, it will take care of you”.
Dude’s humour is on point 😂 keep it up g
“New car prices are basically like organised crime” - I couldn’t stop laughing 😂 but great video dude✨
I hit the sub right after hearing that 😭😭 flammed them one time
@@soluschristus96 these cars have no business asking for Bentley prices 🤧
Brother you should create a company and have agreements with used and brand new car dealerships, to provide a service to car buyers. Negotiate deals and get commission from every car sale. You are good at what you do, get paid for something you love.
Bought a 2008 BMW 523i E60 in 2016 @ 118000km. It is now on 341000km and still going. I service the gearbox and diff every 100000km (ATF change) in addition to the regular engine service (every 12500km, my regime). BMWs are strong, just as long as you also service them. No ride for mahala.
If it's a F30 petrol pre-facelift, then make sure the timing chain guide rails were replaced. Diesel is considered to be the best option without much issues.
i was just about to write the same comment. thats exactly what ive done on both my pre-owed bmws. did a timing chain ang guides job on both of them immediately after purchase i didnt wait to find out if the previous owners did it or not,, i just went ahead and did it
How much do those guide rails cost?
Yeah full timing setup from BMW is 75k had to do that on my n20....that's vanos included.
@@jasonmitten1044 75k??? thats rediculous, they overcharged you. a timing chain job, cost me 12k max with parts and labour. the chain, guides and tensioner
@@MazwiZwane remember that's vanos intake and exhaust, oil pump pump because it's part of the service when doing timing then it's oil pump chain aswell plus all the guides and a new valve cover that comes with built in pcv but only because they don't do gasket kits for the valve cover so it should be replaced if doing the job properly. Vanos gears are about 9k ex vat each. If you are going to do the job do it right. If I had decided to do the work myself which I'm capable of would have set me back less but BMW don't offer warranty on the parts then.
Why do I get the feeling that you’ll end up buying a car with a questionable amount of mileage then end up having a wonderful experience with it to a point where people are convinced to get one as well.
😂😂😆I'm taking a calculated risk here, people shouldn't get funny ideas!
This is the winning comment🔥😂
Funny enough.. We're already getting convinced These are good cars because of him
I was already convinced but this has given me the confirmation i needed🤙
😂😂😂😂
Take care of your BMW and it will take care of you. Problem with 2nd hand beemers is that people tend to skip the expensive services & oil changes. These cars are so nice to drive. Looking forward to your journey.
All my life I just drive bmw and I'm happy.
Until the plastic cooling system gives up the ghost.
Agree 100% Chris.
I agree with you take care it will take care of you
Unless you go for Polo Vivo or Corolla
The 318 has a 3 cylinder engine, rather get a Gen 1 Yaris, some of the common issues are; increased oil consumption, vanos issues and overheating. With 3 cylinders, the engine is also not harmoniously balanced, therefore the car is generally being driven at higher rpm, you would need put your foot and a brick down to get it going.
The 320 is notorious for timing chain rattles, if you get it sorted early as a preventative maintenance, you might be good for the next +80 000kms, other issues to lookout for is the cooling system and the oil filter housing leaks.
And if the tyres are not from the same brand, the former owner was a cheapskate who might have been cutting corners on maintaining the car.
I've had an E90 320d since 2015 and it's been good to me. I've driven over 365k now and all this car needs is to be serviced, otherwise, no issues nje! And the fuel consumption is amazing!
wow this channel is getting better with each video this will be very interesting to see how it plays out 😁 i remember when at some point i wanted the 1 series as my first car so but it didnt happen i want to ssee what problems i avoided. keep delivering great and interesting content
"Some people love stress so what can you say" 🤣🤣🤣 Love your content bru
I own a 320I (F30)for 11 years now with about 280 000km on the clock. I've been servicing it myself right after the maintenance plan and I've no major issues to complain about.
Teach us Sensei
Are you servicing at bmw or private dealer?
Last year I bought an 320i f30 2016 and it runs well but my problem is exhaust pipe has some black dust even though there is no visible black smoke coming out. Have you experienced that?
This is what BMW is about if maintained properly and not half arsed mechanics.
Nice thing about BMWs are that parts aren't so difficult to come by,so servicing my e90 is easy peasy if you buy all the tools
I drive a 118i shadow edition, 2019 Model all I can say is the car is solid. it had around 20k on the clock when I got it, I'm now at approximately 60k, driving experience, space and comfort way better than my previous car. Used to drive a ViVo GT, not in the same league but worth a mention 😉.
The search continues.....i'd say for that budget, and considering high mileage tolerance; Option 2...yes, 2):, 320d ,whether it's the B47 or N47 engine, you'll get both reasonable fuel economy and fair performance. Option 1: 330d N57 straight-6; here you'll never go wrong, crazy amount of torque, fuel consumption not too bad for the performance, and quite durable even with high mileage.
I have a 320d F30 Sportline (and it's a daily) currently on 335k kms, (performance mods: xhp transmission flash, custom software remap and downpipe). Bought it back in 2017 and mileage was 140K kms at that time. I've had a fair share of experience on maintenance, nothing that breaks a pocket . Even with the minor performance mods done , it still doesn't match the 330d experience.
Great series very interested in this topic. I recently bought a f45 220d never owned a BMW before and took my time choosing one. So far very happy with the car minor issues which the dealer sorted out. Car has fantastic fuel consumption and comfortable drive on the open road.
As I share with my entire WHATSAPP - Thanks Muz👌🏾
Also, S/O to you for looking out for us before potentially making a dumb decision.
It’s the consistency for me 😊 Thank you Muzi.
Have been searching for the same car for 3 months now , this search will now be interesting to follow
got myself a silver 2017 F30 320i for R400k about 2 years ago (looks exactly like the 320 d from BMW Mbombela). Had a mileage of 30500km when i got it. No problems so far and we are sitting at about 67000km.
Also bear in mind that every 2 years new run flat tyres at a cost of around R20K, brake discs and pads at a cost of around R10K and normal service out of motorplan at a cost of around R6K. 320D is very friendly on fuel and the drive and performance very nyc.
Tyres every 2 years? No man, my run flats lasted 9 years
Lol.. nyc of u, I just put My second sets 2 weeks ago and da car is just over 5years old… ContiSports
@@glenmoepi9635 buy Pirelli
@@STRAIGHTUPREALIST I presume you have not insurance cause the expiry date of tires from manufacture date is 6 years.
If you have insurance with those old tires and you get into an accident then your claim will be rejected.
New subscriber from Ireland. Solid contend and genuinely funny. The e46 6 cylinder petrol engines were the last true beemers in my opinion.
I so agree with you, not to mention that the E46 M3 is still the best looking of the bunch.
Finally a video about used German machines 🙏
That F10 M5 was my neighbor's car and it was extremely well looked after!
Hai rest mfethu
For the joy of the channel, the 335 is perfect. High mileage, "steeler" price and great content will come from there
Agreed
3 series does it all, Sporty looks,Drivers Car, big boot, family car!
Only 2018 F30 models have idrive 6, SIM card in the vehicle to support mobile app and emergency contact in an accident. Wireless Apple car play and stitching on the dashboard, metal inserts etc
@@justindaniel5959 thanks daniel great info
"There's no point buying a dull BMW" I felt that🙌🏾🙌🏾🔥
I own a 2005 BMW e90 320d.
I got it when it was 200 000km now I'm about to reach 400 000km and I've never had any issues with it.
Open road I average 4.8L/100 and in town it's around 6.4L/100.
The only things I replaced was vibration damper at 310 000km cause it had alot of play and then 325 000km I replaced clutch and flywheel and those were my only expensive repairs.
Then it's just minor service every 10 000km-15 000km usually oil service and then I do major service once a year.
Diesel BMWs are very reliable and strong and this car still pulls like its new and the turbo is still very strong and the vehicle is noticeably quick and responsive with alot of torque to enjoy.
@@minenhlemkhize356 Fortunately for me the engine has been solid
My bru, your channel is the best thing I've ever found. It makes my day.
Common problem on the F30 is the steering rack, which can be fixed very easy. You don’t have to replace the whole steering rack but Judy buy the steering rack bosh kit and replace the old one.
Please help here. Any workshop where i can find steering rack bush for F30? Since last year i've struggling to find it. Recommended areas PTA &JHB
Seeing this channel for the first time and I like the honesty...its exciting
that lci 320i is pretty fine if the maintenance is up to scratch, same story going with the 318i on the B series engines which can be fun to chuck around due to rwd and a light small engine, timing chain issues and steering rack are only affected on early pre lci models like 2012-2014
It would be great to have a video checking out the repossessed cars and everything that has to do with that market
Your humour is hilarious 😂 I own a e90 M Sport 325i manual. Modified the tone for it to sound like a Gusheshe. Im happy with it and have no regrets
Yoh bra, you are saving a lot of people with your CZcams,channell..keep them coming bra, I make sure I don't miss when you drop a new video.
Really well done and thx for calling a spade a spade! Looking forward to Part 2..3..4..5 etc
Funny and concise 💪 🍻 🍻 💪
Thank you so much for the channel I'm inspired by your passion, I'm into cars bigtime, hoping to learn more
The 318i makes sense as you said , to use it as an intro experiment to Beamers. I'd do the same
I'm here 2, this channel is fire 🔥, waiting to see that BMW purchase. I'm with you all the way 💯.
First time watching and enjoyed the commentary, man speaks truth.
Not sure if you work for a dealership, but if you were a car-sales man I would definitley buy from you....Loved how you presented the video and your insight. You slight humor in the beginning of the video as well.
Would Definitely Be A Costly Fun Experiment, But From What I've Heard Is The 320D (Any Diesel F30 BMW Is So Called BulletProof . Keep Us Updated MJ👏👍
I have a 2012 320d F30 320d. Mileage is 300 000kms. Has been to all provinces. Going very solid still.
My 2016 320i MSport had endless coolant problems costing about 60-80k per year. 320d is a way better option. Stay away from the petrol version. Other than the constant coolant issues this is a beautiful car that by far the most comfortable car to own and drive. I currently have a VW Polo Life DSG but want my beemer back.
Thank you for this content, Muzi. I'm really learning a lot.
Bought 2010 E90 325 msport LCi in 2018, been extremely reliable for four full years, nothing has broken as yet.
Listening to you my guy ,you explained what is demand and supply and what impact it has on price going up and down.
Hi Muzi thank you for sharing your window shopping with us, I suggest you should try out the 318i and upgrade to 320d.
The commentary on this video is on point ! This really cracked me up
Very cool video👊🏾……some of us are from the darkest side😁…..I have bought 2 german machines from the salvage dealers, mercedes benz to be specific todate, fixed them body work and drove them and they have been nice to me……the first one had 117 000km and drove it till 189 000km and I unfortunately had an accident and it was written off and my insurance paid then got the 2nd one i bought with 81 000km…..Personally milage below 120 000km doesn’t scare me as long as you have service history and the car was well maintained.
This video just autoplayed on my YT and found myself watching/listening to the whole thing because of this guys humour! 😂
I am a Beemer owner and fan, with a E90 320D with a factory dropped suspension. Thoroughly enjoyed this piece from Musi, having laughed the whole way through. Agreed, you need to be careful scouting for a used car. And agreed, when scouting for a Beemer, need to even be more careful 😂
Turbo problems
Oil leaks
Have a budget for replacement of brakes
Make sure you fight to always park under shade. Long sun exposure leads to the plastics in the bonnet cracking and breaking. There's alot of plastic used in there. Make sure your engin covers underneath are not broken otherwise replace them. Keep it clean. It's easier to detect problems. When you keep the engine bay clean.
However the strongest 3 series is always 320d. But if diesel pump brakes it's expensive
common issues with the F30 are also drivetrain issues in addition to the turbo tapping out. 320d is mostly highly recommended
I loved this video. I'm not even looking for a car but I've subscribed! Premium content!
I bought my 2014 f30 335i with 52000km, in 2018 Oct for R380k. Car is now sitting on 180000km and still going strong. No problems so far, driven daily
Thank you for an informative video. As a soon to be buyer I really needed to hear all of this.
320i if you want more performances.. 318i if you’re looking for economy and a reasonable daily driver.. Both cars are good, BMW always delivers when it comes to the driving experience.
What’s funny is, BMW is probably one of the most reliable cars lol. I’ve had a 2014 f30 320d for since new. Have never opened the hood before. Have never seen an engine light. Reached 200km earlier this year. That’s better than any other car I’ve ever experienced. I think the issue is buying performance cars. They’ll definitely be problematic irrespective of brand. Buy a good everyday car. The 320d is tops.
bought my Renult clio 900T 2015 model from webuycars south in soweto. it had 90KM . She is still running today with no issues. Very cheap to run . Spent R200 on petrol from JHB to deep rural areas of rusternburg.
I owned a 320i F30 2012 model, yoh! Nightmare of car… drivetrain warning lights frm 30 000km. Spent the whole year in and out of repairs. BMW changed fuel systems, turbo, n many parts to no success and the car was less than 50K kms. Well the dealership borrowed me 520D for a year, it was very comfortable, heavy on fuel and lazy compared to the 320i. The 320i deal was scrapped and gave me 2016 320D. Now the 320D over 170K km, over 6years, out of motorplan, still a darling, never broken down. Just standard service. Brother in law also never enjoyed his 320i F30, ended up suing the dealership coz of constant drivetrain errors. Swapped it for Kia Sportage. Advice: Avoid petrol but Diesel dey are better versions.
BMW n20 petrol engines have been replaced by B48 from 2016 onwards. Much more reliable
BMW e90s are solid. I own a BMW e90 320d. And it's supprised me when people say they aren't reliable. The most money I've spent on once was a the footwell module and the coding for it. As long as you good on maintenance. They will be good on the road
I actually rented a BMW 318i F30 for a week and I must day before I had ever driven that car I never liked them the thought of an 18i haunted me!
But Bel me when I say I was shocked!
The 318i is actually such a fun car to drive even though the one I drove was a base model it really was fun to power slide and I got over 1000km on a tank of fuel on my long distance trip!
Renting that car completely changed my mind in the F30 318i and I am looking at buying one myself!
Just make sure it had the LED Headlights like the one in your video!
Thay are one of the best Headlights I have ever experienced, so bright and they shine really far and wide!
Loooool, Muzi I’m actually driving a 2014 F30 same as the one you had in that video right now with the legendary blue colour Msport. I’ve been driving it for 3 years now and I got with 70k and currently has a 204k mileage never had a issue with it except tyres since it’s 19” runflats. The best advice would be to buy a 18” rims since they are not as sensitive to potholes as 19” enjoy 😉
E90 320D, mine is 17 years old. You look after it and it looks after you. I am over 200k km on this car and going strong. The biggest expense I ever had was getting the internal evaporate unit on the AC repaired, which was around R12k, 7 years ago. Other than that normal service and wear and tear replacement parts. They are built like tanks!! And diesel fuel economy is unmatched to any other vehicle in this class and age.
Dope content my guy. We learn a lot 🙏 please look for Audi S3s and BM 220ds and 120ds from 2013. Thanks
As someone who's also hunting for a used car,I must say that SUVs look really attractive
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who's monitoring car prices...
I’m enjoying your very honest reviews!
I learnt a lot about cars from your content. I realized that if Someone would listen to everything you say they will never buy any car. when you have time please give us a review of Mazda 3, not the one that looks like it was designed Friday after lunch.
Dealerships make it expensive for 2nd because they have nothing to lose, they have enough money in the back pocket to ride it out and hope they make more before selling it for the right price(which is usually way less)
"New car prices this days are just organized crime"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
I drive the f30 320i preface with an n20 engine I wish every single day I went for a 320d… 20i has timing chain issues drivetrain is a famous message on those models
My new favorite channel, cheers
Make sure there are no headlight cracks, got set back 50k just to fix the electronic damage that light caused. Note I still haven’t bought a new headlight, that’s a quote of 50k too for the Led headlight set( control unit + led + labour)
Whoever buys that GTi or S3 must come and tell us how much they spent after buying those cars 😂😂
I have an LCi F30 320i M-sport and proud to inform you that I bought it after watching your channel for a while. Got it last year October with 66000 on the clock. I can attest to the "warning lights here and there" they get annoying but at the same time - a big upgrade from my 2013 Polo Vivo that did not give any warnings when tyres need to be replaced and which service it specifically needs... You won't go wrong with the Bimmer but YES, you need to have money for the warning lights
So the warning light cost u how much exactly
@@siyabongabuthelezi7689 the tyres cost me R3 600 for both. Found them on marketplace, but they cost R3.2k each brand new. The other warning light was for service and I highly recommend you get a motor plan or service plan just like Muzi mentioned
I Love this mans commentary !
Love your sense of humor 😂
You really love MBM...
Thank you for the great content
Dope videos bro, now I know what to watch and check for before buying a car🎉🎉
I never understand people who buy C180 and 318i, those specs are just a taste of owing the respective brands😂
Bought a Mini Copper going for R120k 2 years ago, 130 000km on the clock. I'm still moving even now, fixed few things though but I'm still moving. It's on 155 000km as we speak
You've only done 25,000km in 2 years, thats really low. Cleary its a from Home to Work and back type car. I think buying a 2nd hand high-end car is highly dependant on what you plan to do with the car. Long distance or point A to B type use.
I bought a 2016 f20 120i Msport..What a car, only problem was with the gearbox, 8 speed auto..Apparently you do not get a second hand or new bellhousing seperate as mine had a crack. The gearbox comes as a sealed unit, and that would be R92 000...And nope i dnt have the Beemer anymore..Pro's: performance and the fact that it is rear wheel driven, Awesome hot hatch, would prefer the 135i or 140i😉 Cons: Maintenance cost, no maintenance plan, stay away......Keep up the good work bud👊
320i looks clean with that sporty look imo
I have an F20 bought It at we buy cars north gate,,,,at first was scared but noticed that engine had been done and good job too,,,,it was 130 000km going for 145k ,,,I took it,,,,because of I knew everything had been replaced timing chain kit to vanos gears,,,I was a good gamble,,,one year later I'm sitting with nice car with 160k mileage now and spent 10k so far on full service,,,,,it Is cheap to maintain if chain oil every 5k,,,It uses oil,,,,,BMW specifies every 10k by than your oil is not protecting but damaging engine.
Yes go for that 318! ❤
one nice thing about 320d is fuel efficiency is like polo 1.0 but powerful
just make sure the beemer comes with turn indicators. I have heard that they are optional.
Sweet spot I’d say is 2017 - 2019 f30, any m sport even a 318
What I can say is bmw is a strong car , comparing it with the 530d from 2008 my parents had it for more the 10 years still strong but never need to much service
next stop should be second hand Polo vs second hand Audi. thanks for the content and will keep in touch.
100K🥳 Congragulations
A diesel F30 is your best choice. An F10 but only if it's a later year model
Dude! Awsome video keep it up!!
