    Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

      @talrasha1985 Před 16 dny

      @@divineflu34567 i think he really was in love with Amy. When he wanted to write an opera about Jo, he couldn't remember anything good about her, so he came up with a new character that was suspiciously similar to Amy.
      1) Then he tried an opera, for nothing seemed impossible in the beginning, but here again unforeseen difficulties beset him. He wanted Jo for his heroine, and called upon his memory to supply him with tender recollections and romantic visions of his love. But memory turned traitor, and as if possessed by the perverse spirit of the girl, would only recall Jo's oddities, faults, and freaks, would only show her in the most unsentimental aspects-beating mats with her head tied up in a bandanna, barricading herself with the sofa pillow, or throwing cold water over his passion a la Gummidge-and an irresistible laugh spoiled the pensive picture he was attempting to paint. Jo wouldn’t be put into the opera at any price, and he had to give her up with a “Bless that girl, what a torment she is!” and a clutch at his hair, as became a distracted composer.
      When he looked about him for another and a less intractable damsel to immortalize in melody, memory produced one with the most obliging readiness. This phantom wore many faces,𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙜𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙧, 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙡𝙤𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙’𝙨 𝙚𝙮𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙤𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙨, 𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙨, 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙡𝙪𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙨. He did not give the complacent wraith any name, but he took her for his heroine and grew quite fond of her, as well he might, for he gifted her with every gift and grace under the sun, and escorted her, unscathed, through trials which would have annihilated any mortal woman.
      2)Tumbling about in one part of the desk among bills, passports, and business documents of various kinds were several of Jo’s letters, and in another compartment were three notes from Amy, 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙥 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙡𝙪𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚.
      3)He found nothing to perplex or disappoint, much to admire and approve, for overlooking a few little affectations of speech and manner, she was as sprightly and graceful as ever, with the addition of that indescribable something in dress and bearing which we call elegance. Always mature for her age, she had gained a certain aplomb in both carriage and conversation, which made her seem more of a woman of the world than she was, but her old petulance now and then showed itself, her strong will still held its own, and her native frankness was unspoiled by foreign polish.
      Laurie did not read all this while he watched her feed the peacocks, but he saw enough to satisfy and interest him, and carried away a pretty little picture of a bright-faced girl standing in the sunshine, which brought out the soft hue of her dress, the fresh color of her cheeks, the golden gloss of her hair, and made her a prominent figure in the pleasant scene.

I mean how come they are hating on Amy for choosing Laurie .. are you kidding me .. where’s Laurie and amy meet in Europe and there’s amy was older and more mature and it’s so evident that the love Laurie felt for joe was more leaning towards friendship and the love he has for amy is the passionate and mature one .. I see Laurie and amy just fitting together perfectly man and love both the sisters💕

    Something I really appreciate but it honestly just the bare minimum and we need to see more of it, is that Lauri waits until Amy brings up her broken engagement to talk about it. He knows she’s grieving, he’s there to support her in her grief while she travels, and even though he outright says he heard about the broken engagement, he doesn’t bring it up first. He’s not there to serve his own interests. He’s there because he loves Amy, and loves the March family, and he’s there to support them.

    I think Amy and Laurie were meant for eachother. At the beginning I shipped Jo and Laurie but as you saw, Jo turned him down. Laurie had waited his entire life to be with her, he loved her truly but their relationship was just meant to be platonic in the end. Meanwhile on the other hand with Amy, she was always told to marry rich, I don't think that was truly what she wanted though. She had loved Laurie from the start but was a good sister, she saw how much Laurie cared about Jo and just backed off. She said it "I have been second to Jo my entire life" which was quite frankly true. In the end, where Jo sends the letter and talks to her mom about how she loves him and misses him, I think just a lot was going on in her life especially with Beth's pass. In all honesty I think she was just lonely and needed someone to rely on. She thought of Laurie since she knew he loved her before. She never loved him more than a platonic relationship, and was only in need of a distraction for a little while. The way Jo moved on so quickly is just showing that it was pure true love for Laurie. Like I said, she was just lonely without Beth, without Amy and Meg by her side, she grew sad and looked for Laurie. If you ship Jo and Laurie, you don't really understand the meaning of this movie at all.

      I think it's the opposite. In the 1994 version, you get the impression that Laurie marries Amy mainly because he wants to be part of the March family. Whereas in this version, we really see the evolution of Laurie and Amy's relationship. She makes him better, she doesn't hesitate to set him straight demanding more of him. Whereas Jo was just accepting him as he was. They wouldn't have made each other happy. They were much better friends.

To say this wouldn't open up old wounds is a lie. He can say those things to Jo, because in his mind it was never going to happen. Jo told him as much. I mean what else was he supposed to say or do? "I no longer love you, but what I feel for your sister is less than what I felt for you, and you were wrong about us all those years ago? " To a woman who rejected him. Telling that to someone who is interested in you is a different thing. And yes I know jo only loves him platonically, and wrote that letter because she was lonely. But that part is irrelevant because the point is to retrigger old emotions, and have our characters actually comfront them head on.

      Laurie moved on from Jo forcefully in the Beginning, till he didnt Start to get Close to Amy. So he decided to move on. He picked a new chance over his childish and immature feelings for Jo.
