Audio is a huge component of creating high-quality content. In this video I explore some of the microphones I've used over the last year, and one new wireless microphone system that I can't wait to tell you about!

Which one sounded best to you? What wireless microphones have you tried that you liked?
I would say, for me the overhead mic is the best.
And i think it's because for me it gives me a feeling that the whole image is speaking (If you can understand me)
And with all the other options you can feel that the sound is from your mouth and i feel more contained?
English is not my native language but this is how i would describe it 😆
@@reyesproductionDK The overhead captures more of the "room sound" which helps it feel like you're there inside the room! :)
The Deity mic had much more noise in it. Why?
Just only 50% through the video - and already fell in love with the Deity THEOS - appears to me truly professional!
Great explanation! Audio is so hard to articulate with words sometimes, nice job
Love the jump cuts when you're unboxing! 😂
Wow impressive. Thanks for taking the time. Appreciate you
Tanks for the tips I was looking for microphone
Great video! Thank you! I was thinking about "upgrading" but not being able to transmit and record it a huge downgrade. I never mic someone in another room or on the other side of a concrete wall, but I absolutely have used the backup recording.
I just ordered a Deity Theos kit. This is what I have been looking for for a while now. By the way, the Rode NTG3B is a great mic but like all shotgun mics, they are really designed for outdoor recording. All shotgun mics, when shooting in environments where there is wall reflection, produce cone filtering (which I can hear in this video). You would be better off using a pencil condenser mic like a Neuman KM184 or any pencil condenser of your choice. Some of these come with different capsules that you can change; cardioid, super-cardioid and omni.
Great Video! On my studio monitors the NTG sounds the best (I have it as well) but overall it seems like there is a tad to mush bass. But that could just be me, it still sounds good. 🙂
Hi! love your content! thanks! one question, so when you make a video with the Iphone for example connected to the wireless Rode, is not using the 32bit? is only when you make internal recording right?
question, wouldnt the actual LAV mic still clip/distort so that will be baked into the 32bit on board recording?
i guess we would need to wait till someone invents a actual lav mic with a 32bit spl as well
dual diaphragm mics, one designed to capture all the high end frequencies and the other to capture all the low end frequencies. This way your headroom may not be 32bit but it would still be orders of magnitude beyond what it is now and practically unclippable.
As someone who does live sound, and produces digital content, I believe this should be the standard. the following system is definitely on my wish list above stuff I have access to for Live use.
Hey just a heads up. The antennas are meant to be cut to match the transmission frequency in your country. The kit should have some with a measurement card to tell you what length to cut them.
Those whip antennas are wayyyyy longer than they need to be.
You cut them to length for your desired frequency! I didn't cut them in the video!
Can you confirm if you can transmit and record at the same time on the Theos? I read that you were not able to both record and transmit at the same time with units sold in the US.
Units sold and/or operated in the USA can not transmit and record simultaneously.
Wonder when the PR2 from deity is coming. Hmm😊
I'm working in the Event Indutry where Sennheiser is the Standard. Why don't you use one of them instead of the Deity system.
Events and Live Music usually have Sennheiser and Shure but in the film/tv industry they use similar and different world. While the Sennheiser is the bare minimum industry standard, they've gotten complacent. Their new digital wireless just isn't meant for sound mixers that work from the bag (if its cart based work they're generally fine but at that point they've moved on to a different wireless system.
Theos is just aiming to steal Senneheiser's market, which is a good thing! It creates quality products with competitive prices. UHF, Dual channel Receivers, and 32 bit float, and the units knowing which legal frequencies to use in almost any country is incredibly amazing features for the price point. Now it just released and time will tell, but things like these just make the audio world for more people accessible and easier. I myself have Lectrosonics systems but my colleagues use also use Shure, Zaxcom, Audio Ltd, or Shure wireless, but I'd be crazy if I didn't say that prosumer wireless giving pro level features is what will give us pros and consumers better products with attractive price points.
This is a new system and reviews across the board have shown how this system in most cases is an upgrade from the other brands now 😊
everyone is talking about the 32 bit like its the state of the art,
i am sorry but in my 8 years of interviewing i never cliped anyone
who interview someone when he is 200m away?
who interview someone when he is behind a buliding?
I used to play vinyl records so who needed cd or wav files right, I never needed them. But that’s tech right, it keeps evolving and even if you don’t need it someone else will find it helpful
Rode Wireless Pro sounded amazing, might be more practical to just get a better lav mic for it.
I just want one that's a box, that'll record on my person
That’s the cutest kitty. That’s all, that’s the comment.
Correction, if you’re in USA you can not transmit and record at the same time
When you learn a lot ( i don't want to say everything ) about camera, settings, videomaking and you think you doin' great.
Realise, HOW MUCH you have to learn about audio too 😀
Audio is a WHOLE world, and I'm still learning so much :)
Why did the camera go to therapy?
It had too many issues with its "focus," like everything was "inverted"!
please heart this comment 😎
I'm a big fan
OK for a topline impression, but way lacking in terms of a serious tech assessment of relative merits vs cost.
I have now made my decision to buy a Deity Theos but that's based on much clearer reviews from the likes of Curtis Judd. I'm pretty sure you know you can do much better and shouldn't be (apparently) surprised on-camera by what's included, because it signals you don't really know what you are talking about IMO.
Heck, I might just as well ask my plumber? OK that's ridiculous, but offered to point up fact that opinions from those who don't know much are pretty 'lightweight' and might well be just plai wrong if not possibly biased. Sorry to be harsh.... but if you reflect then you know its probably true.
Idk who this is for . But you DONT need 32 bit float .
If you record high dynamic range sounds it is very very useful for solo shooters. Car audio, loud events, wedding speeches, documentary work where there’s no sound person and work that’s a once in a lifetime can’t capture again. You see why it’s good now right 👍
