    I am 76 yy and have ridden 2 wheeled motorcycles for over 50 years. Right now I ride a Spyder RT. The only long interstate ride I have taken on it was from OH to WV which is a 4-5 hr. ride. I am wanting to sell it and get a Ryker, but as of now, there are no new ones coming into the dealerships for sale. I realize that the Ryker won't be as comfortable as my Spyder and it won't have all the storage, bells and whistles, but I think since we only ride on the back roads most of the time, that the Ryker would do better for me. I also realize that due to the arthritis in my hands and back that I probably won't be riding for many more years, so I don't know if it would be worth going to a Ryker. I hesitate buying a used Ryker because you never know how the previous owner has taken care of it. So I am torn as what I need to do.

    I have this exact model in a different color. After some experience, I added a Baja Ron sway bar and a Pedal Box. The stability increased considerably and the available throttle can be increased enough to scare you! The trick to riding these is getting dialed into the techniques needed take the twists, turns, and curves. One that’s accomplished you’ll never want to climb off. You’ll hunt switchbacks like you’re feeding an addiction, which you will be.

    Here in Quebec, if you have a passenger vehicle license (class 5) you only need to take a 7-hour course with a motorcycle school (3 hour zoom, 2 hour closed course and a 2 hour road course) and a class 6E designation is added to your class 5. The course is only $458 at the Tecnic Driving School. This allows you to ride any 3 wheeler including 2 wheelers that have been modified into 3 wheelers. Also, a class 5 license allows you to drive a Polaris Slingshot as well as a T-Rex.

    CanAm is the only motorcycle company building a real trike designed around steering and handling unlike back wheel trikes that simply slap wheels on the back and have one deal with poor steering and awkward handling. The concept is superior and safety plus handing is Steller. Unfortunately the VSS is a hinderance and it would be beneficial if they dumped all the unneeded electronic controls

    I want one but can't afford a new one and the used ones are pretty pricey in Australia. I'm told the old 998 engine had problems blowing heat onto the rider at low speed or when stopped. This was rectified with the 1330 by the bigger engine, a different placement of the radiators and reversing the polarity of the fans when the bike was stationary to blow the heat forward away from the rider. By the way I hate that colour.

I wouldn’t want to put my wife in an uncomfortably situation.

    • @DriveRide
      @DriveRide  Před 3 lety +1

      They are quite comfortable. Because you have the three wheels on the ground and they are pretty heavy, you don’t really feel the wind blowing you around much on the highway. With the big windscreen, it does cut a lot of wind down. Ultimately you would have to test it to see if it’s for you, but I find they are quite solid and stable while driving.
