  • Complete tour of the Princess Platinum Yucatan resort including room, pools, spa, restaurants, show lounge, beach and more. Great resort and highly recommend the swim out room category with a pool right off your balcony.

    Thanks for this. I watched before we went for our honeymoon. First time in Mexico. First resort. We loved it. Room service could have had more options, but overall everything was wonderful. In your experience, is there a resort you preferred more than this? If we resort again we only want this quality or better. Thanks a lot.

      I have stayed at over a dozen resorts in Mexico and I have a few videos of those on my you tube channel if you click on it you can see my videos of some of those. I really loved the swim out rooms at the platinum yucatan . I would recommend Princess resorts and RIU resorts as the best ones I have stayed at. I loved the RIU Las Americanas in Cancun and I just stayed at the RIU Pacifico in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and loved it. The mountains there were beautiful and the views amazing. Much better than Cancun and I will be going back there again soon.

    What benefits do you get from getting the Deluxe Platinum room over the Junior Suite? (not the extras throughout the room)
    Are there sections of the resort only platinum members can access?
    Private pools?
    Private restaurants?
    I can't seem to find any information on that besides the upgrades you get in your room.
    Thanks!

    Thank you very much - this was really well done. I'm planning to stay in a Junior Swim Out and I'm looking for maximum privacy and quiet - no matter how far away from everything I am. From what I've read, Building #1 would be ideal, but I noticed when you were on the balcony of your suite, there seemed to be background noise/music - was this noise from the main pool? I've read others describing Building #4 as quiet as well, but do you know how it compares to Building #1 as far as privacy, less noise and less foot-traffic?

    • @burkstravelvideos7017
      @burkstravelvideos7017  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, I was in building 4 and the music was coming from the pool area. The quite building would be #1 and the back side of building 2. Pull up a map of the resort and get a room facing the jungle on the back side of the main pool. You will have to walk a little further to get to the lobby and main areas, but it will be much quieter. I did go back there and it is nice and they have waiters bringing drinks to those guests. The swim out rooms are great!! Be sure to make a note to the hotel requesting those buildings when you book.

    Fantastic video. Thank you for showing it. My wife and I are thinking of going here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Can I ask is it noisy at night? Drunk people loud coutis? if you get my reference LOL. How are the drinks?

    • @burkstravelvideos7017
      @burkstravelvideos7017  Před 5 lety

      It is very quite at night. The pool closes at 6pm and they do not want you swimming in the pool outside your room after 8pm I think. Most people are at dinner or at the shows so not much going on outside the rooms after dark. If you want it really quite book the rooms in the buildings behind the main pool facing the jungle. It will be a walk to the main lobby, but will be quite for sure. Drinks were great. When you stay at a 4 star or higher resort you can count on the drinks being good and name brand liquor. Tip the waiter and ask for the premium liquor.

    • @burkstravelvideos7017
      @burkstravelvideos7017  Před 5 lety

      There are three additional main pools that are very large. Two with swim up bars and another one more family friendly without the bar. You should be able to google a map of the resort showing all the pool locations.

    • @burkstravelvideos7017
      @burkstravelvideos7017  Před 5 lety

      At the airport when you arrive or there are money exchange shops all over downtown playa del carmen on 5th ave shopping district. If you are using US dollars there is really no need to exchange your money, once you pay the exchange fees you would not save any money. I always use US dollars.

      The shows and music at the Platinum shut down around 11pm. The disco at the sister resort Grand Riviera Princess in open until 2am and there is also a small casino with slots. The sister resort is attached and there is a shuttle from the lobbies between the two resorts. Shows and nightlife are much better at the Grand Riviera Princess, it is a larger resort. I have stayed at both. There is a video of that resort on my you tube channel.

      I went it July and it was also bad and the staff was out there with pitchforks piling it up. The beach had been eroded. I walked next door to the sister resort and it was not not as bad there and used that beach. I have been in the fall and winter and it was not an issue so I think it is seasonal. I agree the beach there is not that great. I had a swim out pool room and enjoyed that instead.

    • @burkstravelvideos7017
      @burkstravelvideos7017  Před 5 lety

      Yes, the wristbands are required at every all inclusive resort. Without them you can not access any bars or restaurants and will be asked to leave the property. This is to keep non guests off the property. Your wristband will also allow you to visit the sister properties attached to the resort.

      The beach at this resort is small, there is a much nicer beach at the sister resort next door which is adjacent and only a short walk, 100 yards down the beach. Weather highs in the 80's. Not as much seaweed this time of year.

    • @burkstravelvideos7017
      @burkstravelvideos7017  Před 5 lety

      I traveled solo myself and have done so at several resorts in Playa del carmen, Most travelers are couples or groups. Not really a singles club. If you are looking for more of a singles party place I would recommend the resorts in Cancun where are the clubs are located. At this resort the best places would be the main pool daily parties. There is also a disco at the sister resort next door that you have access to as well, there is a shuttle service. Then go to Coco Bongo downtown playa del carmen. Book shuttle at the hotel.

      July. It is less crowded in the summer. Most of the action is at the pool parties in the afternoon and night when entertainment is going on. Other times everyone is at the beach. Peak tines are January to April.

    • @burkstravelvideos7017
      @burkstravelvideos7017  Před 5 lety +1

      October is the end of hurricane season so watch the weather forecast. It runs Aug to Oct but usually earlier is worse in the season. Prices are lower that time of year but that is why. If you have booked and did not get travel insurance I would not worry to much about it the risk is very low. Google hurricane season and look at past history. Weather should be nice and water is warm year round. When staying at the platinum yucatan you have access to the grand Riviera resort next door and it has the best beach, it is much nicer and wider, plus it has several large pools. You get two resorts in one so be sure to check out all their restaurants and entertainment. I loved the swim out rooms at the platinum and how everything was easy to get to. I have stayed at the Grand Riviera also and there is a video on my channel of my visit to that resort so check it out to see what you have access to. Thanks

      Hurricane season will be over. Be sure to go next door to the princess grand Riviera resort for the shows and also many more restaurants and bars and better beach. With the two resorts combined you will always find something great to do. Enjoy. Also spa over there is better and larger. I have a video of that resort on my you tube channel.
