Thanks for coming out with this video! Im goin to start dread locking my hair one day and this helps me with my beginner tips and tricks. Most def saving this one in my playlist
Oh my goodness. The best video yet for beginners. I couldn't figure it out! Thanks a ton!!
"How to chrochet locs vol.26"
Edit: forgot to mention this is what we call a "Joke"
Haha yes he has too much of videos on crochet hooking 😂😅👌
Some people are new to dreadlocks and want to click on newer videos
maybe better quality/production cus I been here since ‘17 and a lot changed production wise
I think this guy really explains in detail on how to use the needle crochet 👍👍
I don’t get it
Thank you for making this video. This extremely helpful! ❤
Omg…Thank you for explaining the “Expansion & Contraction phase”! I have 2a/2b hair texture and I’ve been loc’d for 10 months and absolutely NO ONE could explain why my hair kept looping and bunching. I actually got worried and combed a few of them out however I did find a loctician who knew how to two strand my hair tight enough to manage the bunching. It has definitely been a journey thus far but I’m super happy I did it and will never going back to straight hair.
bunching is normal ! Please stop think locs have to be perfect …
Thanks for breaking down this process. I learned so much
Thank you for that starting my loc journey
Exceptional tutorial! TY so much!😍❤️
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I watched other tutorials and I couldn't see what they were doing under their pinched fingers. You explained it well.
You're a great teacher! Thanks for the video. Now I can go try it.
Good video, can you show this video when you have to redo your scalp? I would love to see your technique to refresh your parting system
Needed to see this. Thank you bro’!!!
Dude thank you so much I thought I was doing something wrong when doing the locks cause I was doing different methods on my bfs hair but this made it easier its like crocheting something
Thanks for the explanation!!
Dude idk what it is but the locs really elevated your overall look LOL you look sooo good with them!!
I agree
Thabk you so much this will help maintain my instant starter locs alot i have always wanted to know how to do this
Finally a real tutorial ❤
I went to joan fabric found a crochet vid and i liked the grab a medium section and lock them on each side with a slight wide almost where i could roll it straight and its nice when longes to shortest rn is like 5in-
This is the 1st insight I've had to the process, you have a seriously cool channel man, thanks for the education, its nice to see the real journey for someone.
I'm just wondering, when you 1dt starter your locks, did you go to a place to get started or did you just take your time at home?
I don’t have any hair or intend to grow it, but I thoroughly enjoy these videos lol
It's fun to compare pur progress as we started at the same time. My locs are more mature as I have a much tighter curl pattern but your growth is CRAZY.

I'm so glad I saw this. I was about to give up😅
Wow. Locking up diff hair types really take more work. Great video though I learned a lot and also feel better about my frizzy ends
Thank you ❤
Hey I had my dreads since 2018 and there are a couple questions I want to ask.
The first one is that I was wondering if I can bring back my hairline, meaning I have the top of my head fully dread up to my hair Line, and I want to know if I need to cut those locs or could I combine the locs some how?
Thes seond is that it seems like some of my loc that started thick are thinning, And I have to combind them. wht should I do to prevent my other loss from the same fate?
And I started my loc journey in the end of july
What locking gel or wax do you suggest for straight ish hair. I say ish cause my hair is wavy and thick, also on the dryer side. Thank you
THANK you your a fantastic Teacher and helpful ❤☯️🇺🇲👽🧬
Do you always rotate in the same direction or do you change direcrions
any tips for the scalp feeling kinda stiff? (hat head)
I’ve been massaging with peppermint oil, and it’s okay
but is there a better remedy?
Would this still work if I started w comb coils and kept them for like 1 or 2 months, then used a crochet
Ok wow thank you for explaining it like that because i never really understood. Have some hooks coming in a couple days! Wish me luck!
Whelp, we here on CZcams love follow ups. 😂 How's it going. You should be hitting a year soonish right??
Great explanation, makes a lot sense now, thanks
Are you rotating in the same
Direction or going in opposite directions ? (Like back and forth or all to the right or left )?
Thank you
His hair🥰😍
does the dread loc need to be think when you do this
Can you use locking gel on crochet dreads?
Does the expansion stop or always continue?
Dose this only happen to me when I do mine instead of it shrinking it gains length instead of losing length and it still locs up
ThNk you so much for showing me how to Loc my dread in slow motion….
But I need to know how to use the Loc tool that I will not have all these stab wounds 🤕 man it hurts
I would like to live nearby so you can fix my drackelooks ..😁😁blessings brother
Hey @Gunther I see you have a lot of locs meaning you have small sections in the base. I'm also thinking of separating around 10 of my dreads which have bigger sections, into smaller sections. Now I wanna ask if the small sections will compromise in long term (like more than 4-5 years). Will there be loc thinning, have to combine locs, or anything like that? Please let me know, thanks. 😊
What’s ur hair type, if it’s type 4 u should be able to seperate them with no long term issues as long as you take care of them, if it’s type 3 though you may experience some issues especially if you try make the locs smaller than your curl pattern
Nvm, u said u have 2b to 2c so it’s probably best that u don’t try do anything to ur locs especially if they’ve been loced for a while, u shouldn’t worry about thinning or seperation as those things really only effect 3c and above
@@piemack9389 thanks for the info brother. 🤜🤛
Will this also fix the bunching?
Ofc he drops this after I cut all my hair
How often can I safely tame my frizz with a crochet hook?
Am I the only one who doesn't like skinny dreads
Nah you not sometimes they just got too many locs
I like medium to be honest they be too small and I hate micro
His dreads is too skinny he may as well have sisterlocs yeh lol his first set if you go back to his old videos was better!!! And thas a god damn fact!. This is what happens when you strive for perfection...and start your loc journey over too many times
@@Anon1370 yes definitely dn sister locs they are very skinny
Nope❗I don't like them either as a personal preference. Most of mine are as thick as, if not a lil smaller than, my pointer finger.. Although I do like the way sister/micro locks look but those and traditional skinny locks are just too much work and way too many locks for me. His locks look over manipulated.
I'm using the towel my hair is locing up I have been doing it for a month
i started my locs with 2 strand twists about 2 months ago and i think i have a 4a hairtype, idk if i want to wait or just crochet them. Any tips?
Im in the same bout rn
Can u show us how u hydrate your hair like your weekly or daily routine
He dosent moisturize at all he just lets it go from my knowledge
Shoutout🔥🔥
I’m going through this stage right now😭
Hi good morning I wanna know how to fix my frizzy dreadlocks
do you recommend a .75 for 4C hair types as well?
0.5 for coarse hair and 0.75 for more finer textures
@@tishaunahouse6740 thanks!
Awesome! broo'😮|👍🏾+👍🏾
My bf has 3c dreads and they are thick but some are thin
How do I make crochet locks less frizzy?
Palm roll
Wax
That's crazy I just picking my hair and it locked up on me.. simple as that
Thts how I grew my dreads from a sponge 🧽
I’m doing semi free form I have mini dreads growing from my new growth, my locs are like chin length does anyone know what’s going on 🤣 help please ?? I’m like a year and a few months locked in
Your hair grows away from your loc. u would need to reincorporate the hair back into the loc by either braiding the new growth around the nearest loc or crochet it. Same happens with mine
what if you have a 3a hair type
I can’t figure this out
Hey @everyone greetings from India 💛 As for now I'm confused and I've got a question. So my hair type is around 2b-2c and my locs are around 6 months old as of now. I started my locs when my hairs were around 5 inches long and used crochet hook to make them dreads. Now recently I've been facing one problem, that is, my new growth is going all frizz and even if i use crochet hook on the roots, all the frizz comes backwithin like couple hours. Now I know frizz is common thing but my hairs are always MORE frizzy than the normal frizz.....I think my new growth goes away from my locs. Any suggestions on what should I do?
If you don't like frizz, don't get locs
@@meer9098 no no. The thing is my roots are always messy 😢🤌
this aint discord
@@wanabrider that's part of it bro, I'm just transitioning out of that stage it takes a lot of time and patience
@@12bucklemyshoe34opennanoor was just asking for help 🙂
Would size 1 hook work also?
Yeah
Can you take this out after you do it ???
I really need help can you take this out after you have a set done and be back to your regular hair ?
@@choppedbycheese you have to comb it all out which takes days or even weeks
@@zachsborred7702 weeks is crazy you can do it all in under 24 hours if you get someone to help you
people like what they like
Does anyone else have curly hair that dreads by itself… or is it just me 💀 Cause I’m not really into getting dreads tbh and no matter how many times I detangle… in about a couple of days, my 3c strands start locking by themselves soon as I moisturize it and I might just give up on detangling at this point 😶
also nice vid as usual from the man himself 🤟
I'm a white boi with c2 hair type. Anything over 6 inches of hair locks the tips. I need to do this to prevent mating. I plan on donating hair so I grew it and was forced into dreadlocks.
i am only 11, but i want dreads. any tips you could have for me
I would say start twisting with a sponge and where a cap like a durag and be consistent with twisting for instance like twist for 5 minutes when you wake up and 5 minutes before you go to bed and you gotta have patience ( hope this helped)
Not gone lie, i want to lock my mixed hair, but if it looks like this, ima gone head and stick with braids 😭
real😂😂
Yeah his look like he twisted too small. And it looks like when you twist in different directions.
This is not what’s supposed to happen. Always twist clockwise. My mother has this hair texture and her locs look good.
Tbh his are just really thin I just seen someone with good instant locs & usually I hate them they look like grinch fingers😂 just need the right person to do it
It's called type 3 hair, not mixed hair.... And any race or ethnicity could have type 3 hair...
First 🔥
What do u do for 3c semi free forms
you just keep it seperate and wash your hair thats it
How do you grow your locs so fast ?
Just let it do its thing....don't stress about it too much and it wont even feel like it......but basically the hairs will seem longer when you stop noticing it every now and then
Cause he mixed
He takes really good care of his scalp so healthier scalp is healthier and faster growth, he has a looser curl pattern so it looks longer
take good care of your scalp and be hydrated, even use things like peppermint oil if you'd like
My mom made me cut off my dreads and she told me that I can't ha e dreads and i got mad at her for doing that to my growth 😢
that's not expansion, that's butterfly,
I braided my hair to start instead of twisting, and then I matted it with this small tool. Then I combined some over the years.
U- Help Thanks
The comments are a bit much but I actually wanna know how to braid my man’s hair. Thank you and every negative girl. How about you try to learn his routine while he says okay babe and waits for you. 😊
0:25 take it easy on the crochet hook your dreads are pretty thin
Why bro his hair fine
@@malachisdreads140 welp not all people want thick dreads
Crochet the root hurts so much it makes me just wanna interlock but my loctitian said if I want locs for years and healthy I gotta crochet I have straight hair
i started out with interlock it hurt but then i thought wait a minute ill try crochet the roots instead it will hurt less news flash it hurts more to crochet so yeh might go back to the interloc lol the key is dont interloc too much
@@Anon1370 bro I told people crochet hurt more then a tattoo
@@trollmonster3707 lol my tattoo on my ankle hurt more lmao but its damn close i like the look of the crochet and it doesnt unravel like a twist the interloc is more compact but i found the loc thickens back up on me over time
@@Anon1370 how does interlocking hurt?
Why do people still say ‘dread’ locs? It's just Locs. Beautiful Locs nice Locs nothing dreadful about Locs
Just seem normal to say dread locks tho nothing wrong with locks but I rather say dreads instead ngl
I guess because people don’t care and that’s okay
Can You Start Crochet with twists in your hair? 👀
Yes, it might even be easier to crochet.
I’ve done it 3 times with 2 strand twist it works
