For some time now I have noticed my husband take creatine and thought this was just for men!! Finally, after doing research and finding your page, I have the best information for myself, a 51yr. old woman. Thank you so much :)
I’ve started taking the Creatine and I felt amazing, my brain was very sharp and I had more energy but it messed with my sleep. I started waking up at 2-3 at night and I couldn’t get to sleep after that so I stopped because sleeping is more important for me.
I began taking creatine 5 grams in May 2023 at 60 yrs of age, but didn't take it regularly. I started BHRT pellet in January 2024 and added creatine 5 g daily in May 2024. I definitely think it helps my brain and muscles and I had no gastric issues when I began taking it.
I really appreciate this thorough overview. I’m not at all surprised that the most widely studied supplement is one that built muscles. I.e. studied for men. we’re finally entering era where studies for women at very stages in life is going is essential and beginning to be a thing! Finally! Although there’s still a long way to go, I’m sure. This information needs to get out to every woman!

Broke my femur (bad break) 4 years ago age 67 and my leg just never came back in spite of much rehab. No more biking, hiking, even working in the yard is difficult. Don’t fall ladies, it really can drastically change your life. Dr. Susan if you read this and don’t mind my unrelated question, I’m on an estrogen patch and the pharmacy only gave me half the 100mg progesterone and no refill for a month. Can I be off progesterone for a month with no risk of cancer? I’m going to have doc up my estrogen dose as level came back 47 and a bone doc on CZcams Dr Doug show says at least 60 to protect bones. It was 550 on the biest - had doc change me to patch since you said slightly higher risk of stroke with oral if older. I’ll tell ya it’s amazing what we can learn from experts on CZcams and then take that to our doctors. Thank you for all your great content!
I can't make specific recommendations without being your doctor but short term unopposed estrogen is not a problem for uterine cancer - but in general should take it regularly

Creatine is passed through your kidneys as creatinine (different ) . The doctor may not understand that you are taking the supplements and so they are reading the creatinine suggesting that there's something wrong with your kidneys with that is not incorrect because it's simply reflecting how much creatine you are passing in your system. Creatinine will always be higher in patients who are taking creatine. It doesn't mean their kidney function is failing. It just means they're passing it through their kidneys. Many doctors don't understand this so you may need to explain it to them at least tell them that you're taking creatine and that is naturally going to elevate your creatinine. There's a lot of misunderstanding and like a education amongst physicians on this issue and it is absolutely not linked to kidney or liver failure that has been shown in countless studies.
