      Interestingly enough, I was actually inspired by Gunsmith Cats by drawing OCs and writing stories on DeviantArt.
      And unlike Miami Guns, I generally put more effort in the characters and the details in the weapons and vehicles rather than focus on jokes. As I'd rather have the humor come naturally and sparingly rather than turn it into straight-up comedy.

    • @johnoneil9188
      @johnoneil9188 Před 4 lety +6

      Yeah, pulling off a straight up comedy is not as easy as just sprinkling elements of it into a story. A lot of comedies just rely on throwing as much jokes at you hoping that some will land.
      It is cool to hear that you have been inspired by Gunsmith Cats to be creative yourself. You got any way to show your work off?

    Honestly, Miami Gums is a guilty pleasure of mine. I feel like it wasn't stressed enough that the entire show is ironic and a name like the "Organization" is lazy on purpose, it wears cliches with pride and takes you on a trip.
    Yao is completely unlikable but like a carwreck, you can't stop looking at the disaster in front of you. Lu is a likable partner to make them a more endearing pair. And I think it was funny how you said a reference does not a joke make then that Lighthouse bit in the end, not sure if that was intentional.
    But all in all Miami Guns is right up my alley to enjoy ironically(both the way it was intended and not at the same time, I suppose), I just love 2000's obscurity, something about how low key trippy these shows are is mesmerizing. Perfect to just turn your brain off to.
    Also, the dub studio did a good job. I think working on anime turned out to be a one time thing for everyone involved, but it feels like there was a lot of love put into their work, you can tell they had a ton of fun with it and the performances shone through because of it, there wasn't one single awkward line of delivery despite a lot of dialogue that was pretty out there.

    3:13 Risky Safety got a Western release? The anime that I have only ever seen mentioned on a single website back in 1999 actually got a Western release? And you're mentioning this in 2020!?!
    At least now I have confirmation that it actually is a real anime series that was actually produced and published.
    EDIT 16:43 Hare + Guu got a Western release!?! The other anime that I had only ever heard about on the same site that mentioned Risky Safety!?!
    Yeah, I can see why AN Entertainment didn't do very well.

    • @ZanraiKid
      @ZanraiKid Před 4 lety +1

      I knew Hare+Guu got a Western release but for the life of me, I couldn’t tell what the dub sounds like because if there was ever a series that CZcams decided to crack down on in the early 2010s, it was inexplicably Hare+Guu.
      As for Risky Safety, never heard of it.

      It is indeed real. I actually have the dvd collection for it. Long story short I shopped at ANN exclusively in the early 2000's and managed to win a prize in their end of year customer appreciation event. I had hoped to win Gundam Wing dvd collections instead I won Risky Safety. To date it is still the only contest I've ever won.
