Jason Voorhees takes the old masks into the modern times.
Jason Voorhees made the old style hockey mask iconic
Man the NHL in the 50 & 60s were like, "Oh an average of an 80 mph slap shot
This goalie will be fine without a mask
They didn't shoot pucks that fast back then lol
It was more of a dumb ignorant jock mentality of being weak if you wore a mask. But if they had any intelligence a mask makes you a better goalie since you might shy away from saving a few shots if you're not wearing a mask.
#masks4all, not #nomasksatall
They played with leather balls back then.
@@joemckim1183 no it’s because shots didn’t go as high because of the sticks shots were usually below the neck area but occasionally the shots would go higher
RIP Gary, you will be missed, but your work lives on ❤️
Ok
And if hockey mask were never made, I bet Jason Voorhees would be wearing a 30-year old gladiator cow mask.
ŁostBey hahahahahahahahahaaahahahahahahahha
I think that when Michael Bay rebooted the TMNT franchise, Casey Jones should've been wearing an early 90's mask the some eyeblack warpaint. Sort of like using eyeblack as contour makeup, but making the eyes look more sunken in, and the angles of the face sharp AF
Hed be wearing the pillow case he first used
No no he'd still be wearing that sack from Part 2
He would be wearing a sack
I get hockey is suppose to be for tough guys, but having a helmet and face protection on at all times for every player just makes sense in the long term.
It wasn't until the early 80s before the skaters in hockey started to wear helmets and years after that before any of them started to wear visors
Players werent typically going top shelf because their blades we're so flat, so they didn't have to take many high shots until things started changing.
Wow loll... 4:34 bottom shelf behind the man... I love how they misspelled Nabokov's name for his custom masks!

Gary Sr. (R.I.P.) & his son Gary are amazing ppl, & extremely good at what they do, Gary recently made my son a mask, & it is phenomenal❣️ 👍👍👍👍
the first plante mask is scarier than jason's
I played a ton of street hockey. I lived through it. From no mask to now. For us the biggest evolution in mask came from that yellowish bird mask to the Tony Esposito model. We had a full team that played other neighborhoods. We were very good but only had subs. We eventually played a team that had THREE FREAK'N lines. They killed us.
Warwick made my mask when i played pro I had a custom Stone Cold Steve Austin helmet. Great product and got many complements on it. Stu Gould from Good as Gould goalie school told us about Warwick. Loved that helmet!
To think if it weren't for Jacques Plante, Jason Voorhees probably wouldn't be as famous as he is today. Thanks, Jacques Plante!
I saw in this video the Ed belfor mask from the Chicago Blackhawks so cool. I'm a huge fan of him. Loved the Dallas Star days
It'd be cool if this was more historical than commercial.
I can tell you aren't very bright...
Provocateu but yet the richest country
Provocateur always*
Masked Legends:

When in his shop I was overwhelmed with emotion & nostalgia, absolutely amazing❣️
now when you think about it, dude those first golies had some balls, I mean like... BIG BALLS
still do
Mr. Dab damn straight!
Helmet goalie always gets the best art paint work on it!
love the vipers mask on the wall in the beginning
Gary is the best in biz. I bought mine and it fits like a glove.
Len Mudgett LIKE A GLOVE!!!!
I think we all know why they switched to the cage style of masks
boyblogtv why?
Cause of Jason Voorhees
because it actually protected them
Why
Because it lessened the chance of serious injury or death. If they still used those vintage hockey masks then at least one death would have already happened.
I'm amazed at how long the 70s 'birdcage' design has been in use. I remember getting my first one from K-Mart. It came with some hardware to mount on a CCM helmet.
Ended up losing 3 front teeth when it got kocked off and took a hard shot right in the mouth before the whistle blew. Good times.
The Danby sketch had me clicking this video immediately. That image has some cool history behind it. Apparently Wayne
Gretzky ‘s brother posed for it.
Why isn't the Hasek style cage not more popular? Seems like it gives way better visibility than the normal modern cage
It's pretty interesting to see what all goes into making a goalie mask as well as the backstory of why Jaques Plante started wearing a facemask during the games
Getting hit in the face by a hockey puck, especially considering that they're made of vulcanized rubber, which is hard enough before it's frozen for several hours prior to any hockey game
They freeze the pucks because it reduces the friction between the puck so they glide easier on the ice
I once asked the late Al Rollins about playing between the pipes with no mask, he replied "the fewer stitches stitches i got in a year, the better it was!"
I followed hockey since 1966.Bobby Orr was the greatest hockey player in my opinion to play the game.
I think Vladislav Tretiak and his great goaltending against Team Canada in 1972 spurred the introduction of metal cages.
Jack Plante change the face of NHL for ever
PJB7 YT JAUQUES plante
Artūrs Jurkovskis he's died R.i.P best goalie ever

cooper cage is like a boss
Warwick Masks in Port Huron, Michigan is the best custom mask maker in business today. Period.
Rest In Peace Mr. Warwick!!!
If goalie masks never exist
Jason: time to wear a sack
From a scientific and physics point of view the masks should have a nasal bridge down the middle and the eye portions can be slightly wider if you put a plastic sheet across it, that'd also protect the eyes completely. Something like a shatterproof plastic, or that stuff racecars use for windows would work. I think they sell something like that called a 'hybrid' cage and visor, but they're all very substandard so far.
They would get scratched and marked too quickly, not to mention they would also fog up sometimes. Visors are ok for players but defo not for goalies.
anyone else come here just to see Jason Voorhees styled hockey masks

Hi
Hey Jason, what's your favorite team
Jason Voorhees
Oh yes I am, you?
Sup fuckers
No , Jason wore the best mask of all time."
He sure did.
Hellz yea
I got a hockey ad before the video 🤣🤙🏽
No mention that Jacques Plante designed the first really good and safe mask that is basically still worn now !
Masked Legends:
Patrick Roy
Grant Fuhr
Ken Dryden
Curtis Joseph
Clint Benedict
Dominik Hasek
You forgot Jason Voorhees
@@Kuso319 he thinks he's not hockey player, he's serial killer
I think the first player to wear a goalie mask was Clint Benedict in the early 1930's. But he only wore it due to injury and after he was healed stopped wearing it. Plante gets the credit but Benedict should also share in the accolades on this issue.
So this guy is basically the Lucious Fox of Goalie Masks
Jason Voorhees had me thinking about these masks 🤣
Anyone knows an internet website where I can order and buy something like this that ships internally
It's amazing at this point... in 2020... That the hockey goalie mask is most closely associated with Friday The 13th's Jason Voorhees, and not any actual hockey goalie. Hahaha.
Donde Puedo Conseguir Una Máscara De Hockey Original

"This week we decided to show you the basics of painting a goalie mask for beginners. For this project specifically, our customer requested a basic recreation of Cam Talbot's Ghostbusters-themed mask, with a few of his own touches added to the mix. Get an up-close look at how we spray primer, paint, add designs, masking, and much more to this factory white goalie mask."
How much do they generally cost?
With todays technology you could go back to the old goalie masks with no cages, would be cool to see the ken Dryden style or Murray bannerman type mask back in the nhl. They look way better im sure you could design them safe with kevlar etc...
That would be epic!
Ken Dryden's brother Dave came up with the 1st combo mask/cage look.
Yes him & Harrison worked together to design the masks we see today but Tony Esposito was the first to add a cage to his mask.
Curtis Joseph's CuJo mask is the best hockey mask of all time
I prefer the one that had the trumpets and sheet music when he played for the St. Louis Blues. That was a beautiful and classic mask.
Casey Jones would love this Hockey Mask.
2:45 omg jason hockey player
“Chance of not even feeling it” *Thinks of Weber slap shot*
forget hockey I just discovered Friday the 13th and Jasooooon, its sooo EPIC, he's best ev-errrrrrrrrr
Wow, this is crazy, you'd think being put in a position where solid fast moving objects are coming at your face, some form of protection would be common sense. Also to wear one during practice but not games is weird.
Jason?
I don’t know why but the first ones are scary
R.I.P. Mr.Warwick
Mind Numbing to think goalies used to face slap shots without any head or face gear.
wow! good mens!
Cool!
Looked up their prices, and they start at $1,050, which isn't actually that bad considering most high end masks can be pushing $1,000 already.
....goalie masks/gear isn't cheap. shit, my mask alone was close to 200... .and thats just a certified black bauer. i'm not even going to talk about my custom painted mask... 1k for a pro style mask isn't bad per say.
You know your sport is cool when they use your mask for a horror movie character and character from ninja turtles
So this is what Jason been doing in he's spare time
Jasonnnnnnnn😱😱😱
So this is what I would wear at that time? Good thing I have the modern mask
Did slipskot get their masks from the old NHL?
GamingWolf_16 idk maybe...
Slipknots original masks were called "bondage masks"
When I played net I always used the Dominic hasik mask
Hasek uses the Warwick combo, and it could be yours for the low, low price of $1000 US.
The first mask kinda looks like a Spartan helmet front.
Go Blue, Al is the second best Michigan goalie behind Turco
OMG CLONE JASON VORHEES! OMG

I took a puck to the face and chipped a tooth, since then, my helmet is my best friend.
So Jason Voorhees just wore an old hockey goalie mask.
Sonic
Jason voorhees always use the hockey mask
Who's Chris Osman?
Ppl who never played goalie have no idea how bad shots to the mask still hurt even today with all the new equipment. You get a Clapper from the slot you're ears gunna ring for the next day or 2 lol
