  • Here is my Garmin Fenix 6 Pro GPS watch review. I have owned this for a year and it has performed flawlessly throughout. It's fully customisable, has a huge list of functions, picks up GPS signal fast and is highly accurate. My exact watch is the Garmin Fenix 6S Pro watch. However, the functions of the different size GPS watches are virtually the same. Personally, I think the Garmin Fenix 6 multisport watch is the best value GPS watch out there.
    I use this multi sport watch everyday. It's a true smart watch so you get many functions similar to the Apple Watch. As a fitness tracker watch it's immense, especially when paired to the Garmin Connect app where you can record and study your stats. I use this Garmin watch for walking, hiking, running and cycling. I also use Strava to log all my workouts. The watch uploads to Garmin Connect and Strava automatically.

      I know what you mean, it’s still quite costly, but I see the Fenix series as the cheapest watch where the GPS actually works perfectly. From our experience all the cheaper GPS watches have poor GPS signal and therefore don’t represent value for money.

      I have a Garmin Vivoactive v3. Find it works really well. I don't swim but use it regularly for walking, hiking and cycling. Battery life about 8 hours using external bike sensors so not as good that way and doesn't have anywhere near the same range of metrics but the GPS is solid and it's less than half the price. I would still like a Fenix though 😆

      I don't know - you could pick up the F6 Pro for £390 during Black Friday (still around £440 on Garmin store the last I checked). Considering what it provides, there is no other watch that comes close, and those that are most comparable to it FR945, Coros Vertix 2, Polar X Grit Pro --> are all same price or more expensive and don't offer the same level of features, so for what it is - its a bargin!

      @@BackpackingUK I'm quite happy waiting for a few minutes for a little over £200. But there's also the longer updates, the solar in that price and even more battery. But from your review it all still looks great on the 6.
      But there are no real changes to the sports functionality or metric accuracy so on the other hand the 6 looks good and can relook maybe at future models.
      For a £220 saving would you be happy sticking with the 6? Thanks for the awesome review and advice on the GPS. I think if the GPS is good just takes a bit longer to start, that's fine for me 🙂

      @BackpackingUK  Před 2 lety +1

      The watch will still record the activity but it won't show you where you are on the map. From experience, the GPS signal doesn't drop out once it's initially located the satellites. Other GPS watches we've had drop out and then can't find signal again which is frustrating and / or dangerous.

    • @David-Craig-76
      @David-Craig-76 Před 2 lety

      GPS isnt like mobile signal.
      Its more likely to be there when you are out in the sticks, and less likely to be effective in rural areas.
      It requires line of sight with the sky as it communicates directly with satellites that are pretty much always there,

    I'm so glad the 7 will finally have touch screen. I have the 6 plus and it is a pain in the ass to use... and so non intuitive. Seriously whoever designed the functionality is not the sharpest tool in the shed. For non touch screen every function should be under just one button tab... so when you click on it it's all there then you could drill down draper into each... but it's spread all over. I really can't stand this watch... other than the GPS function... which is still a pain in the ass to use... but if you can get it to work right it will help you to not get lost in the wilderness. It's so much easier to use a navigator on a touch screen phone such as ONX when hunting back woods. You just click a couple things and good to go but on this no touch screen watch it's painful. Would I pay double for the 7. No because im not going to pay $600 for any watch... so guess I'll suffer with the 6 pro that I bought for $250... but I'd take the 7 over this any day for touch screen option...

    Does the Watch do phone free, so if your listening to music on your run do you need to take your phone with you?

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  Před 2 lety

      Yes, that’s the main reason why I purchased it. I go out running with just my watch and wireless Beats on. I leave my phone at home!

      @@BackpackingUK yeah same here, did kinder scout the other weekend and was really annoying having to keep get my phone out to check the map but with the watch it’s on the wrist already

      @@BackpackingUK why you didnt showed that on this video? What about the windy conditions. I know the garmin uses Bluetooth 4.0 so I am kinda afraid of that because the music can lag or stop or something. Can you share your experience on this? Thanks!

      I guessed that, they wouldn’t be selling the 6’s so cheap otherwise.

      @BackpackingUK  Před 2 lety

      Yes it is! I do state this in the video, but for the sake of this review, the 42mm, 47mm and 51mm versions are almost identical with their features.

    Yes all good .for a 1390$ AU but always disconnects from phone. .it's very annoying .everytime to reconnect it's a task and time consuming. When 300$ watch connected easier and stay connected always ..so don't buy it

    • @BackpackingUK

      Mine has never done that. I’d say it’s your phone, not the watch.
