She's terrifying, and that's exactly why I love her.
She really is super, and well done for bringing some of the rest of the band in this video! Such a beautiful lady too, though I really like the different music. Brilliant live they are!
considering she is so softly spoken, she has an amazing singing voice!
Talented. Gorgeous. Deadly.
Awesome musician.
Her voice's so amazing and what a presence she has... Best wishes from São Paulo, Brazil.
I've seen all Anna Calvi videos thousands times. She is a drug and I'm addicted.
Simply amazing.
SUCH AN AMAZING CHARACTER!!
That last noteeeeee.
How beautiful.
WOW!!!, I'm speechless... she's absolutely amazing!
So delicious to hear an english Rock singer in french, i love her eyes
Severely underrated

this song is so amazing and her voice is so powerfull!
there are some haters on you tube. shes great.. love her looking forward to see her live.
She's damn passionate! Gotta love Calvi
i used to sing this song with my mother, who is now 80, on car trips! and we would laugh and play it again and again, my dad always provided the whistle, pitch perfect. gracious, thank you for this amazing rendition i look forward to singing with my daughter and having my son do the whistle portion. anna calvi is amazing!
I love her voice, its so beautiful and moving.
REMINDED ME OF BELOVED SIOUXSIE I WAS READY TO WRITE ABOUT IT!
SHE SEEMS TO BE REALLY SOMETHING THIS ANNA GIRL! I HOPE SHE FINDS HER PATH TO SUCCESS WITHOUT LOSING HERSELF!
I can't stop listening to this!
Performance in Cracow was masterpiece!!! Jezebel in the end was so intence.. :) Thanks
@TheMarkduck You are just way more special than the rest of us, because you know a given fact that some may not. I'm so thankful to have pretentious people like you on this Earth to keep me in my place.
escaping from regular drums is AWESOME !
The Edith Piaf rendition is the definitive and best!
She's so unbelievably beautiful that i can't belive it
Wow She is absolutely amazing !
Real rock!!! Great artist, voice, arrengement and song!
@DWJTX
Sorry I made a mistake : Aznavour and Piaf were just the singers of a french cover of this song which was written by Wayne Shanklin and sung by Frankie Laine....
Beautiful Lady with a Beautiful Voice
This music belongs in a Tarantino film!
its too good for a Tarantino film.
@@coldacre She's in the Lynchean division ;)
Yep, She's got it alright
davvero ... Anna ... unica ... in questa interpretazione poi .. oltre ... :) grz
anna sei fantastica, così sensuale. la migliore per sempre
Great!
WOW. I HOPE SHE GOES FAR IN 2011!
Powerful voice..Excellent cd..
When you go back to other singers after watching this, others seem to be pulling a plough when she flies like an albatross! hope she'll have a few songs in French sometime too, we don't have artists like her here.
PJ meets Siouxsie with a dash of Diamanda Galas... ! Her looks suits her mindblowing voice too. I bet she's great in live performances.
I don't care who she sounds like, she just totally rocks and am so glad to have discovered her after watching Later with Joolz last night!!!!
GORGEOUS FACE !!
Noticed a few people gettin sensitive about comparisons but personally I wouldn't worry. It definitely reminded me of PJ Harvey on "There Will Never be a Better Time" on Desert Sessions, but it's in no way derivative. Calvi has an amazing voice and she's a damn good guitarist to boot. It can certainly stand on it's own, any comparisons to frankly brilliant artists are merely a compliment.
This is from one of the biggest Frankie Laine fans who ever lived. No it can't compare to Frankie's but I do like it. Not many today have a voice to even try this song. I had never heard of Anna but now I'm a fan.
She's a GODDESS
Youre a powerhouse singer! I love you!!!
AWESOME
what a warm voice
Awesome!!!
She terrifies and excites me in equal measure
it's like a "B" side to a fifties single, I'm sure I've heard this song or it's riff somewhere before just can't think where.
La amo!, simplemente la amo.
first time i hear it but i dig this stuff tink i ghonne check her out on lowlands when see has a good time block
amazing!
Amazing
@oleumpancake Youve got no ear for it mate..........shes got a very powerful voice and great range....go see her live then make a comment....youll be blown away....believe me.
Yes, very nice! She's like a mix of two favorites of mine: Siouxsie Sioux & Lila Downs!
SUPERB !!!! Love it Anna :)
Steve (R5RS)
Hypnotic
Wow... I'm no English speaking person and at the beginning I first understood "It tastes so bad!"... just LOL!!!!
But, seriously now, great work!!!
il y a comme une ressemblance avec une soundtrack du film trainspotting, style under ground,j'aime assez , semble pouvoir vaincre certains démons avec cette musique là.
Unearth beautifull She is
Great translation and interpretation 👏👏👏👏🎸♥️💯
The Yma Sumac of the New Millennium ? Wayne Shanklin would be proud !
I love it.
Awesome voice, awesome face!
a touch of The Doors in this
Damn good muscianship, really good
I was looking for a song I thought was called Jesabell and got this one. Totally different but great. Reminds me of Nona Hagen
I love her lips :) The way they touch the microphone.
This chick rules....HOlY SH!T...im now a fan.
She looks like one of the classical, Dracula type of vampires. Very beautiful, but with frighteningly strong features,
good song very sweety !!! kiss from france
Hmmm...saw Anna open for Carina Round about a year or so ago at the Water Rats in London and was very intrigued, swearing I'd keep an eye and ear out for her. unfortunately, I seem to have completely missed her up until now. I've pre-ordered the album, but now find she's hotter than hot, and I won't get to see her in a venue the size of the Water Rats for a while!
@MariannaNimega If you really think this, you should see "Rider To Sea" which better demonstrates not only her competence as a guitarist, but also her original circular strumming technique which produces a harp-like sound. Jezebel is a cover and she hasn't really strayed too far from the original, but I personally don't think it's necessary for every song to showcase her guitar playing in order for it to be considered 'good'.
Never heard of the girl until iTunes put her on album of the week or something. I downloaded the album and it's kicked me in the throat with its greatness. It's like hearing Goldfrapps "Felt Mountain" again for the first time. Not that I think it sounds anything like "Felt Mountain", it's because I've never heard anything like this. It's like listening to a cowboy film, where as "Felt Mountain" was like listening to a Hammer horror film. Whatever. Just get this album. You'll love it.
Me gusta!
Just seen her on Jools Holland and I liked her.
Jezebel.
Jezebel.
If ever the devil was born,
Without a pair of horns
It was you,
Jezebel, it was you.
If ever an angel fell,
Jezebel,
It was you.
Jezebel, it was you.
If ever a pair of eyes,
Promised paradise.
Deceiving me, grieving me,
Leavin' me blue.
Jezebel, it was you.
If ever the devil's plan,
Was made to torment man,
It was you,
Jezebel, it was you.
'Twould be better I had I never known,
A lover such as you.
Forsaking dreams and all,
For the siren call of your arms.
Like a demon, love possessed me,
You obsessed me constantly.
What evil star is mine,
That my fate's design,
Should be Jezebel?
If ever a pair of eyes,
Promised paradise.
Deceiving me, grieving me,
Leavin' me blue.
Jezebel, it was you.
If ever the devil's plan,
Was made to torment man,
It was you,
Night an' day, every way.
Oh, Jezebel, Jezebel, Jezebel.

Reminds me of Nick Cave in his Elvis period
If you like this check out the Aussie band "The Jezabels"... "Disco Biscuit Love" or "She's so hard" are good ones to start with when searching :)
@Filledudragon76 This song is from the 30's or 40's. I performed it in a group about 14 years ago. There are recorded versions going back o 1951, waaaaayy before Horton Heat.
Oh God !!!!!
niesamowite...mmmm!
i think she is badass
Totally a PJ and Patti Smith crossover!!
(Almost) Too good to be true!!!
i think im in love, she looks like a blend of Elvis & Angelina Jolie
wow ! love the vocals , why do people always try and pigeon hole new music ?considering the tens of thousands of years of musical history and the limitations of instruments and the human voice , of coarse artists will draw similarities . i think shes great and i love her murderess eyes .
@TheMarkduck- Thank you for that interesting fact. I'm glad to know more about this song, and as I love Edith Piaf - I like it so much more. It's a shame some people are so very insecure, and easily threatened. Trade knowledge and evolve.
what a fucking song!!!!!!!!
damn!
@JBNewman85
Sorry you are right ! Aznavour and Edith Piaf were the singers of the french cover...
music with no frills ... not bad
@TheMarkduck
It's was made famous by Frankie Laine and covered well by Edith Piaf
its on live at The Cavern 1963.
@IAmPlaysWithSquirrel yes
@chrisspitzman =as there seem to be very few women who sing in this vocal range it is great to hear another.
...and as Anna is covering the incredible Edith Piaf who sang in this range long long ago (listen to the clip Edith Piaf - Jezebel..or the infamous one of the greatest torchsongs of all time=La Vie en Rose) so she may be influenced by Siouxsee who probably was influenced by Edith too. Thank goodness for Edith & Siouxsee and..esp since those 2 arent active anymore..Anna. Brava ladies!
Mi ricorda i primi Jefferson Airplane...
gretsch new classic drum set? niice
She kinda looks like Katilette. The music is incredibly unique, I think.
I'd play it in my crack house wow!
@TheMarkduck - made famous by Frankie Laine, covered well by Edith Piaf
@carlitocarlite My personal favorite version is Reverend Horton Heat's cover. But this one is pretty amazing as well.
This sounds like a soundtrack for a new Quentin Tarantino movie, very cool!
