- I picked up the 75 amp mini inverter stick welder from Princess Auto. My plan is to use it with the generator for more portable welding. It works best with small diameter DC rods. It runs on a standard 20 amp 120 volt AC service. It has a cooling fan and offers thermal shutdown protection from overheating. It offers a 40% duty cycle at 75 amps. At $99 CAD it was just to good of a deal to pass up on. Probably a good deal for someone looking to give stick welding a try on the cheap!
Thanks for watching! Please like, comment and subscribe - Zábava
Thanks Bruce i bought one too today from Princess Auto for $99.99 looking forward to using this soon.
I've used it on a bunch of stuff since I made this video. It'll work off a 4500 watt generator too
Good demonstration video Bruce on this little stick welder
Thanks Antonio. It welds surprisingly well
Thanks for the review on this. Wasn't sure how good it was, but definitely going to pick one up now.
You're welcome. It's a pretty cool little welder. I was hesitant to buy one myself but figured if I didn't like it, I could just return it.
Thank you so much I am total new to the welding world. Just pick one up today for the sale price and once again thank you for doing a review!!!
Thanks Martin. It's a decent little welder, just remember to stick with small diameter rods. Heck of a deal for the price!
Wow super portable. I’m no expert on this field but it’s nice to watch and learn something. Awesome!!!!!
Thanks Vincent. Exactly why I bought it. I have several other welders but none this small and portable.
Have a great weekend
@@BruceLyeg cheers Bruce you too take it easy.
Almost the same as the MasterCraft Extreme 80 75amp Welder......Same Factory.., diff paint & stickers.......haa Do u think this would welder thicker then the 80amp MasterCraft Mig/Flux core welder.? I'd rather Stick Welding..........
I have the same welder but three years older - used it fairly regularly through that time and has never let me down on various projects and different thicknesses of metal. You are correct in saying one must find the correct amperage/ rods. For the price and my needs it was perfect. Great job on the video as well. Cheers
Thanks! Glad to hear it works well for you. I do have to get some proper rods, all the ones I have are larger and meant for an old AC buzzbox
I have the CT version. I am a novice welder as in, I have about 1 hour total under my belt. I found the smaller 1/16 6013 rods burn real fast at max amperage and burn hot, but you should have the machine set for 20-40 (really 40-50 on this machine).
I struggled with a 3/32 6013, but I now have good success by running DCEN instead of DCEP and letting the arc heat up the pool before I begin to move. Machine needs to be on maximum. From there I can do a slower weld, and I can feel the rod going into the work, which gives great control.
I just ordered some 5/64 6013, which I think would be great for this machine.
I blew a 15 amp fuse (yes I currently still have fuses and no "currently" is not a pun...or is it...) that was shared with a few other things in the house. I had a dedicated 240V line to the shed for an old compressor and I changed it to 120V 20A, which the machine loves. The line is 30ft of 10/2 for any concerned electricians out there.
I am going to fabricate a kindle kracker and a new level of shelves inside my offset smoker for my first projects.
It's a great little machine, perfect for projects around the house. I haven't had a chance to play with mine much, but I mostly bought it to run off my generator for portable emergency repairs. I think it was a pun.😄
Thank you so much, just picked up one today and a bit confusing about the positive and negative seems like opposite from other stick welding machine…
Hi Bruce, Nice tool have. Thanks for sharing. Nick
Hey Nick. Thanks for stopping by
i always say panic is for the unprepaired. i can see this setup getting you out of a bind. good stuff my friend
True that
That looks like a great little welder, and the price is certainly right! 🙂👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Ian, I agree
Thats one nice machine Bruce!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing, not bad for the money. I’m not a welder, but thus would come in handy for small jobs. Full View and Like 👍
Thanks Allen. In my opinion, this would be a great "starter welder" and perfect for small jobs as you mentioned.
Have a great weekend
How's she goin'? I'm no welder that's for sure. But having said that, this looks like it would be a great machine for someone who just needs to stick some metal together. It's nice that you can use it to weld from a 20 amp circuit. That could make this a worth while tool to have. Thanks for sharing and take care!!!
Hey Mike. I thought of you when I was doing this video, it'd be a great welder for someone like you that as you said "just needs to stick some metal together". I even tried it out on a 100' extension cord (usually a no no for welders) and it worked fine.
Thanks for the info Bruce
You're welcome!
Hey my buddy im no welder but i have a almost same unit and it have welded 1/4 inch no problem just go slow. So yes thumbs up as always , thanks bruce
Do you have the Mastercraft version? They look almost identical
@@BruceLyeg yeah i got the mastercraft , its all the same unit i think. Harbour freight looks the same also. Done alot of welding with it no problems. Let us know how you like it after awhile
That would definitely be good, for some of my small projects...The Tinman, from Wizard of Oz, approves it,... yup !!! 👍 👍,...PS,...the best Fortune Cookie, that I ever got was, (What's that in your eye? Why, it's a Sparkle!)...I still carry it in my wallet, to this day...Your welding sparks reminded me, hehe...Take care, Bruce...
Thanks Marc. You should pick one up, they're certainly cheap enough even for occasional use. I have never gotten a fortune from a fortune cookie that I thought was worth keeping lol
I would love to see this used on some sheet metal at lower ampages
Me too. I'll try it and let you know
Looks like it would get ya home. Could see where it would come in handy
That reminds me, what ever happened to that Jeep you had? This welder would be perfect for Jeep outtings
@@BruceLyeg I gave the Jeep to my son. At the moment it is outside of my garage while he is purchasing a house.
@@joeroyalgarage7995 I see
That seems to be a nice stick welder, Bruce. I know nothing about welding and would you believe this, I actually bought a small TIG welder from my fellow bible studies brother. He does quite a bit of welding in coures. Me....nada. I'll eventually get around to it. Full-watch and loved hering metal get fused. Have a fine weekend, Bruce. 👍🏽🙂
Thanks Don. Boy, you're jumping into the deep end starting off with TIG welding! It's not that bad, just requires lots of practice. Once you learn to TIG weld, the rest is easy though. You have a great weekend too!
Weld sounds way better with the second rod you tested way more constant
I like it I have a big stick welder going to ask you what tires do you run in the winter up there.
On my VW I run Bridgestone Blizzaks and my wife's Honda runs Nokian Hakkapeliitta studded tires.
A big difference when you used the second rod. Was the second rod a 6013 1/16"?
Awesome Bruce《☆》Like Meatloaf said 7 out of 10 ain't bad 7/10=2/3 fuzzy math🤓My barn has 60amp service wired for 220v as well but the previous owner took the 220 plug with him apparently. Nice demo btw👍🔥My question or comment is(Can you do a comparison to one of your bigger units under 60amp preferably ?)🖖😁🍗🦎◇¿.🌴◇:*:◇🌴Greetings from⛾Florida🤳my good friend😎🎱☮🔊🖖👍
Thanks BDOG. Fuzzy math works for me! Just take the plug out of your laundry room for the dryer! lol Good idea on the comparison between this and a larger welder, I'll do that.
Have a spectariffic weekend
nice thanks
Thanks for watching
Cool 😎😎😎
Thanks!
At 4:00 you reverse polarity. Isn't ground negative and stinger positive? (Normally)
You can do either if the rod permits it.
75 amps?
That machine seems weak for thicker rod seems to work better with the tiny rod you used the second time
Definitely
Do you think you could 6010 rods with this welders
Small enough diameter might work
I have the master craft version of this....
And like you said it makes a bead.... not a pretty one
Exactly. It's not great, it's not terrible. It sticks metal together
I wonder how big of a generator you'd need to power this?
I ran it in my cheap Champion 4500 without any issue at all
@BruceLyeg thanks for the info. Might have to get one of those then. That'll make the welder really handy.
Will a 2000 watt inverter generator 🏃 that 70 amp stick welder?
I'm not sure, but I don't think so
No 2,5 to 3,2 kw generator for diss amp.
You got any 7018 rod bruce
I do
You need a 3/32
50% of your movements are out of camera frame. Basically its a good little welder for small jobs?
No need to be negative Hue. You could have looked on the positive side and said "50% of your movements are in camera frame". Hahahaha anyway, yes. It's a good little welder for small jobs and an excellent buy for the price.
Have a great week
I am a welder
Sounds weak as your welding on 75
Come'on Bruce tell us the truth. Does you wife have any idea how much you spend on tools?
Dennis, do you think I would lie to my wife? OK, maybe I don't lie, but maybe I don't exactly tell her everything
Good machine, shitty welder!
Awesome, you must be a master welder. Perhaps you could post a video of you welding with the same machine and show me how it's done. I realize I'm far from the best welder, but I'm always opening to learning and improving my skills. I look forward to seeing your video
Almost the same as the MasterCraft Extreme 80 75amp Welder......Same Factory.., diff paint & stickers.......haa Do u think this would welder thicker then the 80amp MasterCraft Mig/Flux core welder.? I'd rather Stick Welding..........
It’s almost identical to the Mastercraft one. If I was welding thicker stuff I’d definitely use this over the MIG/ flux welder
@@BruceLyeg Ok Cool... Thx... There all the way up to $239 right now, on Sale they Say... 3 yr warranty tho... Cant Beat that...
Thank you ! I really won't buy it now. This is not a welding machine!
Thanks for letting me know!
