In fact, vasto Lordes are considered the “kings” of hollows because they are the pinnacle of evolution. A place where only the most determined and strongest hollows can achieve, that’s why they are so feared by the gotei 13.
Grimmjow decided that he would take his followers with him to the highest level when they could not achieve it by themselves. That’s why he has a complex with being a king and the strongest, so that he won’t betray the expectations of the hollows who offered themselves to him.
That’s why it sucks he’s only an adhuchas, to be fair the strongest adhuchas but still it sucks he never really became a vasto lordes
Azure Hokage all arrancars above menos are humanoid. The only 4 vasto lordes arrancar are ulquiorra, stark, barrangan, and hallibel. Most menos are even humanoid. Grimmjow was that panther when aizen used the hokyoku to make him into an arrancar. Saying him being humanoid makes him a vasto lordes is like saying all the fracione are vasto lordes. Also technically szyalaporro and illfort were vasto lordes but after becoming an arrancar they split which changed their rietsu to be like that of a adhuchas, so I don’t count them as vasto lordes but they technically are

Actually, Grimmjow might be a Vasto Lorde, given Kubo stated in the Unmasked databook that most of the Espadas were Vasto Lorde. And although we saw Grimmjow in a flashback as an Adjucha, he could very well have evolved in a Vasto Lorde in the meantime, before his meeting with Aizen.
This is even more supported by the fact that in the Masked databook (written by Kubo too), it is stated that Adjuchas close to evolving into Vasto Lorde are unusually small (so like Grimmjow in his flashback).
So I assume all the Espada who gave a fight to the Captains were Vasto Lorde, so from Starkk to Grimmjow (given Ichigo has a Captain level reiatsu).
However, if we have to talk about the strongest Adjuchas, Yammy, Neliel and Ikomikidomoe earned this place.
Yammy, no need to explain.
Neliel because she hold her own against Nnoitra, while she was weakened because of her broken Mask which was releasing her reiatsu (that's why she turned again into a child). But in her flashback, we saw she was stronger than Nnoitra. And now, she seems to rule over the Hueco Mundo with Harribel and the way she talks to Grimmjow seems to imply she's stronger than him (and she doesn't turn into a child anymore thanks to Urahara who gave her a device preventing the change).
And the last one, Ikomikidomoe, comes from the novels. It's an Adjucha and he was so much powerful that Barragan feared him and Ichibe Hyosube had to stop him.
So in conclusion, either Kubo shot himself by stating that most of the Espadas (so at least 6 of them) were Vasto Lorde (what would be weird imo given the Unmasked Databook was the most recent one). In this case, we can say Kubo made a mistake and that Grimmjow is indeed an Adjucha.
Either there is some abnormal Adjuchas who can be more powerful than Vasto Lorde like Ikomikidomoe (and maybe Neliel).
17:46 i think you missed it but that was her brother in the early episodes when he was trying to kill inoue. Basically for her, ichigo looks like him and thats why shes terrified

Naruto had better animation overall, animation is not just looking good but the fluidity and fast movements, meanwhile Bleach has the most cleanest and consistent art style.

The face that kept switching from Ichigo to that other hollow was Inoue's brother. I'm pretty sure she was scared because she was worried Ichigo was gonna turn out like her brother did/ was like her brother already.

This fight is easily my number 1 favorite in all of Bleach. It was fast pace, brutal, kept you on the edge of your seat with your eyes glued to the screen. A fight is always great when its against equals. It was the fight we all wanted to see for awhile. And Bleach delivered. Definitely in my top 10 favorite anime fights

I know this is prolly too late to say this, but what I personally get from inoue cheered up to ichigo is simply gives him the more reason to fight and not dying. inoue is basically *the* reason he wants to protect. seeing inoue's eyes terrified of him (17:44) is the reason his eyes wavered, hence he started letting himself got beaten up all over. big thanks to nel, she knocked some sense into inoue 😌 and in 37:00 when ichigo holds inoue's hand, it is his hand that she healed up. so i was thinking that it was a very beautiful moment of them as if ichigo wanting to hold her hand knowing that it is her hand that healed him.

I think the thing about Grimmjow is that it is a bit more complex than just a Complex :p
All Hollows are missing a part of their Soul, essentially a Core to their being... and they are desperatley trying to fill it back up again by any means necessary. It is a craving that goes deeper than meer desire, it is obsession... or even something beyond it i would say. For most Hollows this turns into the desire to eat Human Souls, as they seem to posses exactly the things they crave. Others who want to rise over their base insticts try to devour their fellow Hollow, in an attempt to just gain strenght that they wont have to rely on this obsession to regain that missing piece.... But if their will is strong enough, it will always come back, so they have to find ways to cope with it. In Grimmjow's case, i would say that a feeling of acknowledgment of being powerful is definetley what he is obsessing over.... However he interprets it more as being "King".
I think the reason Grimmjow sorta gave up near the end, is because he felt that Ichigo actually gave him the respect that he craved. (But he is also being a HUGE Tsundere about it :p)
If you got like this, imagine in the fight of Ichigo vs Ulquiorra.

Orihime wasn't necessarily afraid of Ichigo, just what he'd become, because she's seen it before. the other hollow face she was seeing was her brother who got got by a hollow and her brother almost killed her, until he was murdered by a soul reaper. nice reaction. =)

It is rude to say that actually. Orihimes feelings were clearly reflected on how Ichigo fought. He lost his will to fight the moment when Orihime got scared of his mask.

there is a reason they did not fight, Grimmjow is ranked 6 while Ulquiorra is 4th, there is a huge difference like comparing an Adult to a Child.
Actually not true, the ranks change and have changed. Most agree that Grimmjow is stronger then the 5th, mostly because of the fact he didn't mention or care about him versus the 4th. Like he wasn't worthy.

Ichigo’s “second wind” after Orihime’s encouragement did kinda happen like magic, but I’ve read that creating good manga, especially in the shōnen genre, involves the ability to create “moment’s”, and that moment between Orihime, Ichigo and Grimmjow was just priceless! :)
Lol the second wind xD , well ichigo have many moments like this . They were equal i mean ichigo power was equal to grimmjows cuz whitey has more power and it may sound weird that he can't use it even though its still his power cuz whitey is part of him but... he can't and that's the magical not orehime speach . Its still a phantasy anime so we can't understand everything . I think it wasn't magical boost his confidence make his power more stable and grimmjow kinda gave up or was just shocked and didn't react to Ichigo final attack . For example when he fought with zaraki kenpachi , he feared his reiatsu and that fear was on the way . He didn't believe he can cut him but he had the power to do it . Dragonball have magical boosts like goku losing his ki and acheaving form with more energy than ever before , from nothing xD .

I always believe it's just like whatUlquiorra said in his first appearance, ichigo's power fluctuates, and at times it seemed stronger than his own.
I think I just realized something about the scene at 34:48. He took the sword because he realized where Ichigo was aiming and said "damn you" because he knew it wasn't a fatal injury and felt that receiving mercy was the same as being looked down upon.
Grimmjow stood still and took ichigos attack because imagine getting ur strongest attack destroyed by mele attack and its the end of the fight and ur hurt ofc he will take it

I seriously think if it isnt of that surprise attack the tables would have turned the opposite. Grimmjow is not really serious about killing ichigo, we can see he is just having fun fighting ichigo. If grimmjow wanted there were numerous chances for him to kill ichigo. But grimmjow let his guard down that is what turned the whole situation upside down.

I think this fight was my first introduction to bleach and afterwards I knew I had to see it all, that kick started a proper interest in anime from then on. 8/9 years have flown by and it's still one of my all time favourite animes

I think they did but it's quick... They point out at one point ichigos spiritual pressure fluctuates . It goes up and down cuz of certain factors . So he goes back and forth being weaker and stronger than a apponent . Like at its peak at one point he was let's say as strong as ulquiorra but when it goes down he gets smacked around by yammy
Fun fact they dedicated an entire volume of the manga to this fight. So if you just wanted to get only this fight in manga form you would only need to buy 1 volume

I think he grabbed Grimmjow like that because the best way to avoid injury is to defeat your opponent as quickly as possible. And Orihime told him not to get injured anymore.
Bleach was mah first anime i watched in its entirety. Minus all the shows that were on Toonami, mainly Lupin the 3rd and Cowboy Bebop. Takes me back to my early high school days.

I skip fillers, but that Grimmjow fight is one of the reasons why I want to see a Bleach 3rd Arc anime some day.
Something she should realize is that Ichigo has really big potential and his only limit since the start was experience. With every battle even during every battle he keeps getting stronger, think Kenpachi and Byakuya, even ignoring the Zangetsu and the Hollow meddling in, he started off much weaker than he exited those fights, it's teh same with each Arrancar fight he is in.
