Every appearance of Vincent Adultman in the first season of Bojack Horseman. society6.com/product/vincent-... I do not own the rights to this material.
I thought that he was gonna be a one off character but the fact that they kept going with the bit makes it more hilarious she straight up had a whole relationship with this dude XD
We know he’d have everything together. Doing business stuff at the stock market, feeling grass between his toes with a girl. Wish I was could be that mature.
I'm going to guess that he really is a deformed adult with a kid's voice and face. He only talks vaguely about business because whatever he really does for a living is illegal.
Fun fact. Cats cannot focus on objects about a foot in front of them. Scale up a cat to Princess Caroline’s size and - well I’m too tired for math but I would guess that her close range vision isn’t too great even at a few feet. So this - interestingly enough - makes perfect sense
So fun fact: in the episode where Kevin and Vincent are in Princess Carolyn's apartment Kevin has 2 Freckles on each cheek and Vincent has 4. Theres never any animation errors in this show. Vincent is really an adult
It's always hilarious to me when Bojack mutters "Okay, here we go" (4:26) thinking Vincent is about to confess he's three kids under a trench coat and then gets denied.
I believe in the theory that Vincent is actually an adult and this is just how he looks from bojacks perspective, mostly because I find it hard to believe that he'd be able to go on that vacation without somebody figuring something out lol
Although Vincent is clearly three children on top of each other under a trench coat, I think it also works as a source for multiple metaphors. I see Vincent as a representation of men (or people) who may be adults in every sense, but they’re still emotionally immature, but their love interests will ignore it because they are taken in by their apparent wealth, career or social status.
i think it was a commentary on how people tend to not pay much mind to the people who are clearly experiencing a crisis, even when they point out things that, upon hindsight, were quite obvious. they're so caught up in their own lives that so many details get missed and just go by them... welcome to the machine~
Vincent Adultman isn't just three kids stacked on top of each other in a trenchcoat. Vincent Adultman is also a lot of metaphors stacked on top of each other in a trenchcoat.
Children’s perspectives are usually pure. The character of Vincent is the author who highlights the characteristics of the character and the original appearance of things through the most ordinary appearance of things.
Tbh, I thought there was gonna be an inner joke where it's revealed that Vincent is someone with mental issues and that inside the coat was a deformed man of society.
And you never ever see him disrobe, leaving just the slightest question of whether or not he might just be a double amputee with scoliosis and an affinity for trench coats.
I always interpreted Vincent as a symbol of how far people are willing to go to lie to themselves even in the face of the obvious because they want a form of happiness but look for it in the wrong places. It's so obvious Vincent is a kid it's literally pointed out to her by Bojack, she knows this he has a broom for a hand and he looks like a child. They made it so obvious to where you KNOW he's just kids in a trench coat, Princess Carolyn flirted with him to make Bojack jealous knowing that he was a kid in a trench coat but the longer she was with him the more she lied to herself to the point of deluding herself and believing her own reality that he was everything she needed she forgot the obvious problem that was right in front of her and she believed her own lies she told herself to the point she believed he had a kid when she saw vincent without the coat. But it also led to the end because seeing him for who he actually was a symbol of you can't keep lying to yourself even tho she tried to at the end but at some point you literally can't and have to see things for what they are even if you don't want to admit it.
"Life is a series of closing doors" I love how the show just throws depressing existential truth bombs during a conversation between a horse and three kids stacked under a trench coat.
Does anyone else ever wonder what the behind the scenes conversations were like that convinced the other two kids under the trenchcoat to keep going along with Vincent's charade?
I would’ve loved it if in the last episode there was one shot where Vincent and Kevin were in Princess Carolyn’s wedding revealing that they really were different people all along
The character of Vincent shows that you shouldn't try to do what you think is "adultish", you should just do what makes sense, i.e. what feels good for you and other people in both the long and short term
they say 3 kids but based on vincent's height he is only 2 kids in a coat, not 3. Further proven by where his body "misshapes" showing where one person ends and the other begins.
the point is him and his to buddies wanna try to get drunk and party like grown ups, id say kinda but he doesn't even know what monogamy is, i think its more that hes too innocent and is trying to go with his idea of an adult persona
+ImForester I'm going to be all philosophy and shit. so what if Vincent represent that kids think that being an adult means you got your shit together. while the major theme of bojack is no one has any shit together.Even through Vincent seems to be the most mature person presented on the show all of his shit is fake. even his job is superficial he does business that shit is hella generic. real adults jobs and lives are complex and shit.

Patrick's Crazy Place What are you talking about? Vincent is just an oddly shaped man with a high voice. I doubt he appreciates people like you insinuating that he's actually 3 kids stacked on top of each other under a trench coat. Which he clearly isn't!
Paola Gutierrez in the episode where princess Carolyn meets Vincent and his son, who we are made to believe is just the top "kid" they have different freckle patterns.
They allude to the kid being Vincent because when the kid enters the apartment he knows exactly where the bathroom is without Princess Carolyn telling him.
I feel like Vincent needs to connect with his inner child more. If he continues to only focus on his business transactions at the business factory, his relationship with princess Caroline could be even more strained. I'm honestly worried about them. Hopefully season 2 addresses this.
