I was born in Ukraine, and lived there prior to collapse of USSR. We had absolutely no dislike between Russians and Ukrainians. Never!!! Most people spoke Russian, but in the country side Ukrainian was predominantly used. And most importantly, everyone knew that our capital was not in Kiev, but in Moscow. I would never believe, not in the wildest dream, that 45 years later Russia and Ukraine will fight in a bloody war. It really hurts me to know that I have a family in Russia and in Ukraine that ones were very closed and now they hate each others. Very sad, indeed. I am Canadian and the dialects are different from the West coast to the East coast and when you get to Newfoundland, the accent is so thick you can't understand what they are saying. He also made a good point when he said that America has problems of its own at home that should be dealt with. I served briefly under COL MacGregor when he was Squadron Commander of 1st Sqd 4th Cav. He had a reputation for high standards. Western Europe has had 78 years since the end of WWII to prepare to defend themselves against Russia. But this war isn’t about defending Western Europe. It’s about enriching our politicians and their donors.

Spent 21 years in the Army Infantry and Special Forces. 3 of those years were with the 1st Infantry Division (Forward) in Germany, ready to plug and defend the Fulda Gap in the case of a Soviet Union invasion into Europe. The Russian Army is not the Soviet Union Army of pre-1989; it's better. And the U.S. Army of today is not the Army I joined in 1982 and retired from in 2003; it's worse. Far worse. Drop the PRT requirement so now people can be overweight in the MILITARY. Our equipment is so outdated that ships now that require a yard period are being delayed. Just after high school, a friend of mine wanted to join the military, but couldn't pass the entry test. We looked alike, so I took his ID and took the test for him. I deliberately missed 20% of the questions (aiming for 80%). The irony was not only was he told he passed, but was told that he had one of the highest scores and that he could change to any profession he wanted (He was wise enough to stick to basic infantry though). Now if deliberately missing 20% of what I considered to be a fairly simple test got a high score. Then imagine how bad people that score much lower are doing on the test. And now they want to dumb that test down ever further. That is just crazy.

I was born in Ukraine, and lived there prior to collapse of USSR. We had absolutely no dislike between Russians and Ukrainians. Never!!! Most people spoke Russian, but in the country side Ukrainian was predominantly used. And most importantly, everyone knew that our capital was not in Kiev, but in Moscow. I would never believe, not in the wildest dream, that 45 years later Russia and Ukraine will fight in a bloody war. It really hurts me to know that I have a family in Russia and in Ukraine that ones were very closed and now they hate each others. Very sad, indeed. I am Canadian and the dialects are different from the West coast to the East coast and when you get to Newfoundland, the accent is so thick you can't understand what they are saying. He also made a good point when he said that America has problems of its own at home that should be dealt with. You should look at Putin's plans. Putin told us in his essay he wrote on Ukraine in 2021 titled ”On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians“. You can easily find it online; in fact it's required reading for Russian officers. In his essay he says Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia have been one country for more than 5,000 years since Kievan-Rus times and they are only separate now because the founders of the USSR made the "mistake" of chopping them up into separate states under the union in 1922 which became sovereign after the union was disbanded in 1991. He says when that happened Russia was "robbed."
And he also says that Ukrainians are really Russians that speak 2 languages, and that them starting to deny their roots and Russian language and Russian orthodox church and become "ethnically pure" Ukrainians who want to join the EU is "comparable to the use of weapons of mass destruction" on Russia because it will wipe out millions of Russians from the Earth.

I served briefly under COL MacGregor when he was Squadron Commander of 1st Sqd 4th Cav. He had a reputation for high standards.

Colonel Douglas is 100% correct about discipline being declined. As a previous sailor that got out, the Navy has been losing countless people and not gaining, and for the loss they've had too drop the ASVAB score. Drop the PRT requirement so now people can be overweight in the MILITARY. Our equipment is so outdated that ships now that require a yard period are being delayed. Its a complete mess, that the Navy i once knew is no longer there.

Just after high school, a friend of mine wanted to join the military, but couldn't pass the entry test. We looked alike, so I took his ID and took the test for him. I deliberately missed 20% of the questions (aiming for 80%). The irony was not only was he told he passed, but was told that he had one of the highest scores and that he could change to any profession he wanted (He was wise enough to stick to basic infantry though).
Now if deliberately missing 20% of what I considered to be a fairly simple test got a high score. Then imagine how bad people that score much lower are doing on the test. And now they want to dumb that test down ever further. That is just crazy.

I am currently living in Florida and I walk my dogs through the neighborhood in the early mornings. A couple of years ago, I ran into a neighbor who was and is a transplant from the Ukraine who speaks English even worse than I do Russian which is the language of the Ukraine as well as Russia. I was amazed from the start when he told me that he would prefer living under the Russians rather than the current government of the Ukraine. He informed me; and, in no uncertain terms, that the current President of the Ukraine was a crook and a thief making millions if not billions as he was needlessly killing his entire country. But the thing that really got me was the part that was confrimed by this Colonel that while the Ukraine was ahead at the very beginning the Russian Army has caught up and there was no way that this form of the Ukranian Army was going to win this war. That is everyone in the Ukraine now knows that the war is about over and that Russia is going to win; and, aside from the total destruction of his country he thought that the Russians would be better running the country than the this Ukranian President with whom he had, and currently has, zero respect. Make no mistake that had the Former President Trump been elected then this war would have never been fought! It is just unfortunately that this currently has a President who works three hours a day three days a week; and, when he does work he doesn't have a clue about anything that he is doing! And make no mistake irrespective of how you think that the stock market will be doing (and make no mistake I'm in the market every day as an option trader) this country is about to start going though pure hell. For almost 2 years he's talked about the "crushing" Spring Russian offensive, 7 to 1 kill ratio, Bakhmut being a meat grinder for the Ukrainians and not the Russians (until Prigozhin said otherwise), Ukraine running out of troops and NATO troops are next. I don't know that that figure is correct but I used to prepare taxes. An immigrant came in, could not speak English, had worked a menial job for 3 months and made a few thousand dollars with a green card. He had kids, so he qualified for EIC. He received a refund of 5 grand, EIC and paid zero taxes. He saw the amount he was getting back and he said the only English words he knew..."God bless America" ...... We work all our lives here, to fund others, while DC lives it up!
