how to Pour Concrete over OLD CONCRETE? (capping NOT overlaying)

- On this construction jobsite today, we poured 4 yards of concrete from the cement truck, our concrete had 1% accelerator in it and we had to wheel barrow it because I did not rent a concrete pump. The batch plant was an hour away so this mud was setting up really fast and the concrete batch plant was an hour way so that cement in the concrete truck was already going fast, plus pouring concrete in high winds is not ideal, but the concrete porch and concrete steps came out great. we put a broom finish on it (make sure you have all of your concrete tools and masonry tools at the job because you can't have issues or go back to the shop to get stuff)

Man you always got someone trying to make stupid comments and if you can't say something encouraging keep your mouth shut not everyone's got it like that you have to start somewhere like you said a couple wear barrels and tools that's how you get started and if you're fortunate to have a hundred grand to get started my hat's off to you. This comment right now is to the people out there like me who watches videos watches guys like these just getting started you can't say something nice you guys keep your mouth shut you know if you're that good why you watching these guys for it's a waste of time for you it's up to the guys out there and ladies whatever it is making you stupid comments your company that's supposedly got it all why are you wasting your time watching videos keep up the good work brother
I saw your other comment and I'm glad u r learning a little off the videos and like them, unfortunately some1 like me is going to have haters. It's nothing new to me. It is on youtube though. I don't really care if some1 states their mind but it does kinda get annoying. Especially if some1 else has already said it on the comment section. The guy I mentioned in the video was a huge inspiration to me and I thought he was doing something to sabotage my channel, but tbh u never really know, I also have found out that it's alot easier to make a stupid disrespectful comment if you have never seen that person make a video, I get that alot from New viewers, but I also know that having haters is a good thing too for youtube. Anyways have a great weekend bro, i appreciate the positive comments
great job though anytime you have to pull d steaks and break lines its really smart to get on it asap
why would you write this? are you paranoid?
Love the GoPro POV - great detail shots! Real nice looking job!!
Much appreciated. The videos this year will all be pov
17:00 beautiful pour brother ❤
You have what most need, a crew that works well with each other. Nice job.
Bobby you make make it look easy! One of my favorite concrete channels!
Much appreciated dave
I appreciate all the support from every1. I tried something new on this video, let me know if you like some of the longer clips from my pov (the start of the pour) I also wana announce FLUFF DOGG AS THE WINNER OF $20 cash app for being the qst comment, next video will have another $20 winner (for the 1st comment)

I was wondering about u bro for real. Glad to see u back. Don't bother w those short clips. I do that to grow. But anyways it's been rainy all week but I got a couple videos on deck. That permatique and a record breaking distance to Georgia buggy
U back at it full thortle ? PA right?
Good stuff y'all ... I like your style 👍
thank you. have a great weekend
Right on Bobby clean entryway good job! Never used that high early concrete didn't have it where I was or am now looks like a sticky mix. Another quality job by the Grubb mud crew!
It was sticky, so all u had was calcium? It's like half of what calcium does, kinda like when a company uses Grey water in the mix (recycling water) thanks Juan take care buddy. Still waiting on your next vid, when u drop it I will give u a shout out (maybe it will help) no guarantees lol I do have a some loyal viewers 😅
@@GRUBB-MUDD yah we had calcium and non chloride and would use recycled water every now and then and if we wanted it to kick faster. If it was super cold outside and our concrete didn't have any rebar we would us 2% calcium and 1% non chloride along with hot water .
@@thatjuanshow4485 yup that non chloride is the same thing, the old timers called it high early. Same thing pretty much. Have u ever used 2% non chloride & 2% calcium? My old boss did 1x on a basement and we had to drag it 15 feet in the middle of winter and we almost lost it. Water did nothing to it
@@thatjuanshow4485 My new vid is sick
Nice video Bobby, even though it was 17 minutes long, it still kept me Interested, turned out very nice
Nice job bro

great video son! this concrete went off fast
Man I like the way you put plastic on the walls you got to be very very meticulous when you come to residential area like you mentioned yes sir I love you videos bro and learn a lot from you
All you're videos are great. But this one stands out bubba! I'll be stoked to watch this channel blow up. The drone shots are amazing by the way.

Loved the unicorns 🦄 & butterfly 🦋 comment. So true not everyone can start out with all the fancy equipment.
Well it's deeper than that, I have tried to be cool w this guy, I even looked up to him. But tbh he is on some bs, but imam a forgiving person and tbh I would like to be cool w AL, the creators, but when they do shadynstuff to prevent me and others from growing, and I have given him multiple warnings and he still doing it. SO I HAD TO JAB BACK. look the last thing I want to do is make an exposed video about all this,,but I have so much on dude it's ridiculous 😫, have a wonderful day Ken thanks 4 watching
@@GRUBB-MUDD no problem man. I enjoy your videos because you are just like i was when i was doing concrete. I had to retire because of health issues plus im 60 years old but i sure do miss it and i like the way you do things because i was the same way.
@@kenparr9666 thanks Ken, I know u r a real person because I checked my stats. U watched it all the way to the end and I appreciate that. Where do u live?
@@GRUBB-MUDD Louisville Ky
@@kenparr9666 ok sorry about the Kentucky tapcon joke lol
I feel for the guy that had the wheelbarrow put the stop on him in the beginning. Whoever said lift the wheelbarrow hasn't poured much concrete. The tips you mention as working are spot on, did concrete for 16 years, walls, flatwork, stamped, bridges, airports, etc. We used to get a 1/2 wheelbarrow at the end in case there are low edges, or some fool steps it it, this too will happen. Keep up the good work my man! How's Zeus working out? My old boss started out with hand tools and a wheelbarrow, he just sold the company to his son for a cool 10 million. Yeah if you want a short day "High Early" will get you out quick, "Thunder-Mud" baby!!
Thanks for the comment, zeus is working out great, he just drove the buggy yesterday. He is a good worker, we also just got this kid named Ivan, he is Hispanic
Great job! Camera and cement
if im making just a little 2x3 about 1ft high small ramp do i need to drill into the concrete i want it to stick to? im a retired ironworker but im planning to make a small ramp for skateboards etc and i dont want it to move. i added the ironworker part so you know im familiar with rebar and 9 wire and shit lol
Nice job, sometimes the smaller ones are the most difficult
thanks Jason, u r right about that. the final product looked good w no water used so I'm happy! thanks 4 the support
Nice finish Bobby, curious if you would have put any kind of expansion joint in against the house? Do you always pour right up on the siding like in this case?
I went over that w the customer as I always do have him the pros and cons. He didn't want it. It was vinal aiding so it's not actually locked in. U should watch my new est video it is pretty cool. He I appreciate your comment and support have a great day
@@GRUBB-MUDD appreciate the response brother! Have a great year
@@ryanorseno9437 hey no problem, I respond to about 90% ,u as well
Y’all make it look so easy. I’d screw it up, for sure. 😮
Hi. Unrelated question for you about vertical cold joints. If I pour concrete retaining wall one section at a time leaving rebar sticking out to tie into the next section and keying new wall into the old one, is it likely to leak and stopping me from installing stone veneer on top of the cold joint successfully? Is there a method to do this successfully? I appreciate any advice.
Can't you caulk the joints?
100% your comment on west coast.
#dope
I will prob take something out, thank u though
Facebook?! cool perspective and video
You killed Bobby great content
High early makes it set from the bottom up...I would say good call
thank you, old dad called that 1, what does calcium do exactly. i used it the other day and it seemed like it didnt go as fast w no sun just wind
You said it right brother, don't overextend yourself as a business owner buying equipment which is nice but not required. Then you're chasing work and not putting quality first. When the time comes the equipment will come and you won't have to go into debt for it
Thank u. That was good
that is some huge rock in the that mix.
3/4 minus, basically a jagged stone not a round stone gravel mix (thanks 4 the support)
We will try that high low. We had a pour today that dry on top but very soft on bottom. And it was a stamp. Luckily it was just a sidewalk !
It's called high early or high performance. Just stay on top of it and be careful about the sun
@@GRUBB-MUDD
Thanks Bobby
What kind of min. Load charge do you get on a truck? Ours is 5 yards.
4 yards usually. Unless it's SRM and there's is 6 YARDS MIN
Tha KS 4 watching buddy
lil tip a shovel is better than a come along especially for tight spaces we joke about guys with come alongs that its a tool for landscapers
comealongs are better than shovels you can actually drag some mudd. but whatever floats your boat, i still appreciate you watchin even though we have different views on tools lol
for tight space you are right, 1 time i forgot my comelong and had to use a shovel. it is a whole different muscle workout. my buddy has a little shot handle comelong. r u from the west coast?
Watching again cuz I got a side job ima be capping like 6 steps and a patio for an elderly couple the risers are like 7 inches and one of them is about 10 inches so ima cap it to bring everything to a better height and they have a patio that’s pretty ugly ima cap it and groove it where it’s tracked underneath but they didn’t want to completely tear it out so ima cap it 2 1/2 inches I can’t do 4 it would make everything higher I gatta kinda cap according to the heights I got but ima make it nice for them for sure they will be happy
I usually tell people that , yeah u r saving money but it may Crack because of that. Sounds like the steps will be fine, for the patio u should be good if u cut them where the cracks are. Maybe use some wire and or 3/8rebar and or fiber. U know what u r doing, but I Def appreciate the view again! U rock, btw sounds like easy money. 😆 jk
Yo grubb Mudd, I never seen that guy on the west coast ever use a mag, bullfloat, never seen him pull a stake.. I don't think he can finish or setup. All he does is pump then the workers do all the work they are the skilled ones..
ok, I agree. now he might not be a finisher but he can def run a company though., he also can demo and pump. but your right u won't even see him bull float. which is crazy
Where was it poured on top of other concrete?
I didn't see it.
the whole top section and side was, when i was narrating the video and w the go pro on my head part
Yeah those damn Unicorns are few and far between.
🙏🏻🍀💯
Nice video. What drone do u have I want one
I got the dji mini 2, its about $400, but the mini 3 is about to come out soon. it def is cool to have if u have time
@@GRUBB-MUDD I know it’s hard to try to record and work at the same time. I try to grind through the job quickly. Hard balance
No expansion on siding ? I guess it’s not concrete, I still do tho
YOULL GET YOUR BUGGY SOON!!!
yes sir. 4 now we just rent, wait till u see the next job, talk about biggies we used 2 9 them and wheeled it about a mile
let me ask u do u like these type of videos or the ones w music bettet?
I'm number one yeah
thats whats up fluff, thank u so much. im going camping but im hona cash app u $20 when I get back. all u gota do is reply to this comment and verify that I paid u! I got u. thanks 4 the support
I don't have a cash app or PayPal account right now lol but ty tho and still need to get a greendot card or something like that idk what kind of card to get I want one that I can use at an ATM machine also but I don't know what kind to get
Looks great, but not sure why they wanted that upper sidewalk, that seemed pointless and made the job harder than it needed to be.
About how much $ were you able to charge for this job sir?
i dont rem that was back in the spring. i can tell u that the goong rate for a job like that in the industry would be around 3 to 4 thousand. but that was in the spring some i guessing ours wasnt that much
Thanks a lot for your time. Next video you should cut some longer joints by hand. Good videos, I enjoy watching them, I hope you keep making them.
@Gregory Rolando ill do that in my next video for sure. just make sure u watch my next because i have not shot it yet
You poured concrete against the siding. You have set the homeowner up for future problems.
A lot of guys don’t cut the 45 and I don’t understand why, I learned years ago to cut that and I did it every since
The 45 is the way to go 4 sure
You used a wheel barrel on this job? God!
No we used 2 wheelbarrows, better than $1200 on a pump

Pour over busted up concrete all the time.
Yeah crypto will really your business
"As a contractor you probably know of a place to dump for free." Hey come on... Don't encourage others to dump for free. Pay the dump fees or recycle the material back into your projects. Crushed concrete can be used for a combination of things, dirt too. I tire of seeing huge dump piles along the roadsides and in empty fields.
All of our concrete we dumped that year was to fill in a pond for a pregnant single mom. Ahe didnt want hwr kid to drown in it. And i do use recy concrete for fill on 90% of my ptojects
@@GRUBB-MUDDGreat idea. I need some old concrete to fill in right in my road and build some berms.
Any suggestions for how to start asking around?

Stay away from crypto right now. Always buy metals though.
Great work buddy👍 Probably a good idea to invest in crypto..
Especially right now, it's a bear market. I'm going to put like 5k on some etherium and bit coin, but I'm learning about pump and dumps. Gota get those the day the come out. Not sure about those yet(they are not long term plays) but the bitcoin is Def a long term play. Do u crypto?
@@GRUBB-MUDD my friends have played in crypto before & made good profit, but I am still considering just like u. Still researching about it..
@@UmerKhan-gw7ud one thing I learned is this buy the 2 big coins in a bear market like now (bit coin and etherium) and but the pump and dumps during a bull market not now(but u u gota get them the day they drop b4 every1 starts taking profit, u gota watch your charts , as soon as they start taking prifit, do the same and u can come up big) #memecoins, im on tictok basically just to learn and watch. some of them will let u know, and u can make out like a bandit. just don't ever think those meme coins r something u wana hold on to. u may already know all that
Do your suppliers charge you an underload fee for light loads?
yes but we usually just order 4 to avoid it, even if it is only 2.5
@@GRUBB-MUDD yeah as do I, watch plant prices next year. Heard they are going to spike the prices again.
