  • Ai Weiwei is one of the world’s most influential living artists and activists, known for addressing human rights and freedom of expression issues through his work. His memoir: 1000 Years of Joy and Sorrows, shares his family story of growing up in China.
Sculptor and installation artist Anish Kapoor has created large-scale artworks across the globe that challenge us to engage subjectively with them, including Cloud Gate in Chicago and the ArcelorMittal Orbit in London.
The two global icons compare notes on freedom of expression, how art can challenge power, and what subversive art looks like today.

Two quotes from this discussion. Ai Weiwei 'if you think to much you can not really act'. Amish Kapoor speaking on being an artist, 'our greatest fear has to be self censorship'.

AI Waiwai is amazing. I feel like this conversation between the privalaged and the "not privileged."
Must be nice to not have to worry about anything. To be able to make work about absolutely nothing, with no real purpose.

Kapoor is an influential artist who likely will be remembered. Weiwei has no aesthetic view or medium. He’s not an artist. He’s an activist that feeds on Western perceptions of political relevance.

Why no news here on Nagaland killings today??
What about no news on "Hindu groups target Gurgaon’s Muslim prayer sites" - the latest news!
    Same at Wion.
Till yesterday, Indians were begging here to give news about burning of Sri Lankan factory manager!

Ai is Not even an artist. Destruction of old cultures does not mean changing to the new. People can disagree with their government and culture but it cannot be called art. Cannot understand because I am not stupid enough.

Of course Ai Weiwei is a well known artist. But he also moves on the border to agitation. I personally think art is not worth being demagogic. We artists don't need to reach people with our work. Art reaches everyone person if that person learns to stand still, learns to see, learns to listen. And I personally think art is essential but art don't need to be political. If you are hungry, eat, if you have enough to eat, give it to hungry ones. So simple it is, no need to make out of it a political gesture.

the most radical thing that can be done today might be this idiot idea that came to me 8 years ago. to create a company that you registrate it as a art object *( like a wohol backwards, instead taking a company u create one and create it as a art produc), you aply a logo ( witch is a symbol , a hermaneutic way of comunication) that anyone can draw, making everyone and artist for the moment they do the symbol, but in the same time is a social performance that conect everyone trought a action, that object could be a bottle of water, water being the medium that interacts and accepts memory at a molecular level, witch means you can imprint emotional frecvency into its structure that by drinking them would intereact with and communicate with the water within you, this would be the second act of performance and union because people would drink water that would have the same emotion within, third thing the water bottle should have a Qr code that when you buy it you acces Share from the registred company m resulting that everyone who would drink the Water would be the buyer and owner of the product, but in the same time a viewer but the performer. So the company that is an art produce that creates art , transforms the buyer in the art and owner of the company. this can be done with blockchain tech. Have Fun
