Well done JJ.
It's a fantastic concept and way too underused as a setting.
I really hope Aydan keeps this project going.
I do think zekes just biting through tough armor like chainmail, plate and gambeson is stretching _(my)_ suspension of disbelief though.
Being a trained, well-equipped knight or a man-at-arms pretty much turns the person into zombie kryptonite.
Maybe the player could start off as a poorly equipped peasant and get new armor, skills and weapons as they face tougher and tougher B.O.W.s or something, so they'd kinda grow into the hero's status. 🤔
Just go n play onimusha la. Onimusha is the mideval version of RE
This is a dope concept for a resident evil game
The very idea/concept of a medieval RE game is insanely cool.
We already have a Samurai RE and Edgy Action RE. Now adding Medieval RE to the list.
this is more or less what give origin to onimusha but it was medieval japan instead of medieval europe
I think a prequel to RE4 in which we control someone helping Salazar's ancestors fight Los Iluminados would be a good idea
I swear we got a trailer for a game with that same concept but it was with modern graphics.
@@Argonisgema I think it was called Blight or something.
This feels like one of those old school, dark fantasy PS1 games.
Like King's Field maybe, or were you thinking of some other games?
@@RuSosan deathtrap dungeon and nightmare creatures 1/2
I mean it is built on a PS1 game lol
Aydan is a gift that keeps on giving.
He really is. 💯
@@ROEnetworkyou should check that RE4 demake mod "Nightmare's Hell" for classic RE2, super hard tho. Kendozone has gameplay of it.
Really wish they would finish During the Storm. 😢
@@BOMBON187 I think that was Resievilnemesis30 not Aydan, it was canceled because the rest of his team lost contact with him.
@@TheZoobZoobs Oh my mistake since it looked so great I thought it was him. I wish Aydan would take it over, he's the fuckin GOAT!
I've been imagining a medieval version of Resident Evil for a while and it looks like I wasn't the only one. This just shows how great a concept and game it can be.
dude you need to play onimusha
@@fahadmutairi8704Onimusha Warlords 🤌
Very true. It's the same for me!
Blight it’s taking it to that level
There are games like that which are Onimusha series and Soul of the Samurai/Ronin Blade
This is awesome, i already can see how this can fit in the RE canon.
This is an unnamed city in the medieval europe with Plague roaming around. Desperate healers and shamans obtained a few boxes of special flowers from Africa - exactly the same flowers we seen in RE5 of which they extracted the progenitor virus from. They have been trying to use the extracts from these flowers as a cure from plague. And protagonist is one of the knights that pretty much fighting an aftermath, where it's all grew out of control.
STOP READING MY DESIGN DOCUMENTS!!!! 😅
@@aydanwatkins8124 Just wanted to say, you're an awesome fellow. Thank you for these special treasures.
Totally possible if Capcom is actually moving away from numbered titles.
I am shocked someone didn't try this back in the 90s while the iron was still hot. An RE clone set in Medieval times. It's almost too obvious.
@ElvenRaptor that idea became Onimusha. Lol
This is definitely one of the best mods and the most creative.
Now that I think about it, it would be a great concept for RE 10.
Maybe not as RE 10.
But something like Onimusha did.
Why not just making a new IP instead?
@@RichterBelmont2235good idea, but I think capcom got this idea somewhere Deep Down in their minds you know
I THINK It would be Game of year CONCEPT tbh its first of its kind, backed by an amazing strong company like capcom and a brand new twist and fresh plot like never ever before medieval resident evil! the people would or can say it was from a sorcerer , etc or be totally like freak out you are right!
@@Mazgid They already did it with Onimusha. 😂
i can see this working so well
especially with the projectles becoming spells
like the flamer thrower is a flame spell,
a grenade launcher can be a fireball (or iceball, or acid ball)
a crossbow stays a crowsbow
a shotgun can be a blunderbust
a 9mm can be a flintlock pistol
this is such a cool concept.......especially with medevial versions of the monsters
You know when you consider Salazar's ancestors beat back the plagas with just medieval swords, and tech? That sounds like a badass recipe for a game, and it looks like this just might deliver!
I have wanted a game like this for a long time, maybe with weaker plagas to balance the melee weapons and the fact the they did'nt had the science to create monsters like the regenerator.
@@brunofresnedas7692 yeah original plagas were just like the village ganado, anything else was just due to luis and sadlers experiments
It looks cool. And I think RE game in medieval about Ramon Salazar's ancestors fighting Plagas would be great.
I think it’s awesome. I would have liked to see the sword be a lot more powerful and maybe even do things like remove arms and heads and torsos the same way the upgraded shotgun and stuff would do.
That and the shield should bash away those zombies.
Like in the game Eternal Darkness, it was also a amazing game for the game cube.
That could be different types of swords, and they could have different effects. Like a flamberge could inflict a stacking bleed effect. And a great sword could have a chance to one hit zombies.
The shield looks like is useless, just for the visual, too Bad it would be cool if can parry
Dismemberment was a mechanic in Eternal Darkness way back on the gamecube. It was kinda like a Medieval RE.
This needs to be a full release, so awesome
Umbrella released the Black plague. Would be a good concept, aa how one of the ways the G-virus was released, by vermin in RE2 .
This would look like playing RE4 in the castle stages.
I was telling a friend i'd like to see something of a Resident Evil medieval game, it'd be interesting if your weapons degrade and you have to pick up swords and stuff. I guess kind of like Dark Souls 2 but more on the survival/limited resources part.
Thanks for sharing!
This is pretty tight.
It is reminiscent of Onimusha, but in medieval styling; also, it makes me think of a game that would have release a little after RE2, using assets from RE2.
I'm sure this would appeal to most surval horror fans.
Surprised nobody had tried this before. Looks dope!
Honestly "Zombie apocalypse in medieval times/dark fantasy" is such an underused setting idea.
There's the *Black Masses,* *Blight Survival* _may be in development™️_ but beyond that I can't think of any from the top of my head.
*Hellraid* would've been somewhat like that but Techland _"wisely"_ decided to abandon it.
Edit: Ah yes, the *Thief* games and by extension *The Dark Mod* have undead too, and in those games they're a major threat.
It's really different in terms of genre though.
It's new, just released on Aydan's channel
@@SRC267
What's his YT channel name?
@@PerceptionVsReality333 just search for Aydan Watkins
Dark souls rings a bell?
I hope they update it to where you can actually use the shield for defense, and maybe add more weapons
Like you start out with a sword that does average damage but has a high crit chance to either chop them in half or cut their heads or legs off
Later on you could find a mace that’s pretty short range but can instant kill zombies if you aim for the head
Bow and arrow that takes a bit of time to ready but offers as range
Crossbow which is faster and stronger than the bow
Maybe polearms like a spear or pike for reach but is hard, if not impossible to wield in tight places
Yaknow there’s ideas here
Maybe add it to where you don’t start out with armor but you procedurally find pieces that increase your health
Yeah the lack of use of the shield seems to be the bigger issue for me, one of the reasons melee weapons aren't more reliable in the classic games is that they are too risky to use, a shield would actually help with that
The problem then becomes that the more I think about it the less dependable the current engine becomes.
I love this idea. A medieval fixed camera survival horror.👍
3:04 I thought the diary on the table was going to have an itchy tasty message. As if the person that wrote the diary was an ancestor of the keeper. 😄
Damn, time really is a circle
check Estatica, a 1994 game for Dos.
Fear and hunger?
Technically dark souls 1 did kinda have that feeling in tutorial stage, yeah but no fixed camera
You can try the classic Onimusha game. It played just like RE
I just thought of a new RE idea to make a chapter of the los illuminados before it was resurrected in RE4. And you play the Salazar family
I've been misspelling RE as "Resident Medievil" on purpose for years and I simply can't believe someone really made it for real.
Bruh why hasn’t a medieval zombie game been made yet? That would be dope asf
There's the *Black Masses* and *Blight: Survival.*
Of which the first is kinda abandoned but somewhat playable and the second is either dead or in quiet development limbo.
There was *Hellraid* too which was kinda related, but Techland abandoned it for their current IPs.
The mod playthroughs are some of your best content, imho. Would love to see a whole playthrough of this.
Yo, I wanna see a Halloween celebration of The Medieval Times show do something like this! This is _siiiiiiiiick!_
Ayden Watkins is THAT DUDE!!! so talented!!!
This needs to be turned into a full game! It's so good!
Anything medieval im here for resident evil medieval ill die for huge thumbs up to the creator
this is so cool, i want to see classic RE in every aesthetic/theme possible
I’ve had this idea for so long, so glad someone has actually done it
Amazing, I would LOVE to see this continued. What a great use of re1's engine. Cheers
i never thought i’d live to see RE modding get to this level, truly amazing work by Aydan😊
The spark shot transferred over as shock magic would be really cool ⚡️
It's such a great time to be alive. We are getting new sequels to our favorite classic games.
Re mods are sweet.
Mario 64 Mods are SWEET.
Kaze romhacks running on real hardware
Portal on N64
Games like this for PC
Goldeneye Remaster from 2007 for PC.
Like Jeez, It's the best time ever for retro gaming.
knight armour would actually make you pretty safe against standard zombies, even just chain mail would stop bites. The danger would be the lack of mobility and physical exertion of swinging swords and moving in full plate armour, Really great concept
This is absolutely fantastic- there is an unbelievable gap for historic cultures dealing with zombies and other shit like pandemics
That was really creative. You can tell they put a lot of thought into it.
This is such a cool concept, I would buy this
Yeah this is dope, very different than any other RE mod I've seen and I've seen sooo many 😂😂
This is such a cool concept, well done Aydan!
GREAT Concept, it looks like Resident Evil but given an Army of Darkness vibe.
Man, this is so cool! And apart from some more fantastical items I could totally imagine a Resident Evil game like this - we do have some medieval lore for it, after all!
residentevil fans are so talented and have amazing ideas when it come to creating their own residentevil games👏👏👍👍
This is the kind of mod I love to see. Great work!
The concept is very good, I would love to see more about this world. the types of weapons and enemies in this medieval world.
This looks awesome! I would love to play something like this.
This is so well done!
i can see the mod extending to playing and retelling parts of RE's ancient history such as count gregorio's expulsion of los illuminados, the ndipaya people fighting progenitor monsters and the battle of the stronghold from village
I love this idea of going to the medieval times, I think Capcom should consider like this as a spin-off but only if they have the right people to work on it
These classic re mod gameplays are my background noise when working excel sheets
Just days ago I was thinking of RE in a medieval age and this video pops up😄😂 Great concept!!
I like that the villain's crest is partially inspired by the Umbrella Logo.
Now this would be an awesome playthrough if the full comes out..looks good 🥂
Definately it ties in with well with the survival horror plus melee I do hope It continues and theres like heavy cross bows or actual bow and arrow type of weapons
A medieval fantasy survival horror game sounds like a awesome concept, ngl. Like a more horror centered dark souls. here's an idea: semi-open world game in the style of shadow of the colossus but with a way smaller map, you would mostly move around the map by riding on a horse, while outside of castles and strongholds you are vulnerable and have to be careful with a massive dragon as a stalker type enemy.
SO cool! Such a great idea! Hope RE does something like this officially!
Aydan needs to increase the damage of the sword. A sword would do signficant more damage than a knife. Other then that this build looks very promising. Hope he continues on with this project.
This would make a great idea for a resident evil game. Shooting crossbows instead and swords. A new evil organization, instead of underground lab it's catacombs and experiments.
A castle town goes to hell and as a guard you have to investigate the town, castle, catacombs, forest/swamp. An armorer to build and upgrade weapons with a tad bit of fantasy elements to the weapons to spice it up.
Oh heck yeah..this is bloody awesome. I loved the ending too
Thank you Aydan i love this concept, Medevil survival horror is such a niche genre that's never ever covered
I think a prequel to RE4 in which we control someone helping Salazar's ancestors fight Los Iluminados would be a good idea
That agent smith laugh at the end was awesome lol
Really cool idea for a game.
Seriously how cool would a resident evil back in medieval times be? Maybe even have a umbrella corp before it was even called umbrella. No guns either, just swords, daggers, bows and crossbows
C'est merveilleux!
The beginning felt inspired by the dungeons in resident evil ø, the blood pit eerily of Outbreak, and the end cinematic made me feel as though a horde mode would be right at home. Envision it, if you will- wave upon wave of the dead sliding down into the mud forcing you to slay them, some dropping a health item on occasion. Then, once you reach certain milestones, you obtain the crossbow, a more powerful two handed sword... the possibilities are endless!
Bravo, Ayden! Bravo!
It’s actually insane someone really made this if you play Resident Evil Village there’s a memo saying that
The Umbrella Corporation exist back in medieval time.
I don't know the official heraldry terms, but Sir Christopher Redfield's coat of arms would definitely include an arm punching a boulder.
Ngl thought this wasnt gonna be great, but i started getting really into it once i saw the spencer emblem on the wall.
Very short but amazing !
That last part looks like templar Sire Wesker!
would love to see a full game. I can only hope
I love the idea of using magic it so cool
"This is the 27th of last seed. The year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the 3rd era... and the final hours of my life."
That would be awesome..and can't wait to get the arrow launcher and the catapult
What???
Very very interesting.
A different perspective on survival horror.
Wow very cool. Nice work👏🏽👏🏽
In the beginning, it was ok, interesting enough. But when I saw the magic, now we're talking!
I hope the developer continues the mod.
Slow zombies aren’t terrifying until you’re in a claustrophobic space with a lot of them, & you’re only armed with a close-quarters melee weapon
Basically Western Onimusha. Games seems funny, but the idead that the guy is so armored that the zombies wouldn't be able to damage him anyway.
Damn we need more of that!
Oh I love this I hope there's a crossbow in this too
Yup, we need the full game!
Definitely a cool comcept. It would be interesting how it would end as a finished game.
Love the medieval setting they went with, a modern horror game in the same style would be cool to see.
I would love to play a game where you kill zombies in Medieval times. Hell, Capcom would have my full attention if they ditched the FPS gameplay (never was a fan of that in Resident Evil games) and rebooted the RE franchise to use an earlier era.
This can be a Las Plagas lore prequel, with the first Salazar castellan
Would be cool to play as a worthy Salazar.
Even more reason to despise Ramon in RE4.
_"I didn't save us all just so thou could destroyeth everything and ruin the family's honor forevermore, thou pathetic dastardly runt of a knave!"_
@@RuSosan Almost 500 hundred years and only 8 generations? There should be 16 or 17.
@@mohdadeeb1829
The hell you talking about? I didn't say anything about specific generations.
@@RuSosan Just saying. I mean think about it, Ramon is 8th count. 8 in 500 years.
Man I've wanted exactly this since the 1990's.
This is as if DC’s Elseworlds and Resident Evil had a baby.
Evil dead Army of Darkness, main hero - Ash)))
Now this is an improvement on the RE formula, people are right, we need a medieval resident evil.
I would love to see this made into a full game!!
very cool, def worth making
Such a great concept.
If it works with soul of samurai from Konami this works even more
8:17 YOU'RE A WIZARD HARRY 😮
I really like this concept zombies on medieval times XD
Awesome video good Job I in joy it I would like to seen more of the game it look cool and awesome ❤👌👍
Survival Horror set in the medieval times sounds like a really good idea with maybe an good combat system similar to Chivalry & Mordhau.
Fan français ici 👋, j’adore votre travail et la passion que vous avez pour RE, je tenais à le dire.
This looks awesome. What a great idea.
For a moment, I was worried until you found the fire book. If the sword is the primary weapon, they should mod it to do the same amount of damage as the handgun.
We need a part 2 of this...🥺🥺🥺
Geez, makes me wish Capcom would look at fanmade stuff for inspiration. I can totally see this becoming its own spin-off Resident Evil franchise, with more emphasis on melee and crossbows, throwing spears, and such replacing guns.
