    Thanks for the review, glad to see these holding up well over time. The port is for data transfer only, not for charging, but it will power the unit when plugged in. It runs off of a replaceable CR2032 lithium battery that can be accessed by removing the back plate.

      Yeah this thing is amazing. I forgot to mention in the video it has been banged around in a back pack and in and out of hot and cold cars and still looks brand new!

      Hi D B, I've ordered one of these calculators, and I'm waiting for a response to an email. Can you give the right person a prod? Cheers!

      @@BrianRonald I would if I could, I dont work for SM. Im just another calculator enthusiast who enjoys his DM42. Concerning getting in touch with the SM crew about a question, you may have better results seeing if you can reach anyone on the SM forums than over email. Ive heard other people repeat your sentiment about them not responding directly to emails more recently, but they're obviously still going because they just released a preview video of the upcoming DM32.

      @@BrianRonald I remember when I ordered mine it it took about 2 or 3 weeks to come in.

      @@commtechengineer612 Mine did arrive after a few weeks. I'd have asked on the forum but it took them even longer to activate my account. Communication probably isn't their biggest strength.

    Glad to see one of these specimens getting years of use in the wild!

    I got one of these recently; it’s a lovely machine, really well built and solid. Sometimes you just need a device that isn’t your phone or computer!

      Definitely! I'm trying to get my hands on one of their mini Credit Card size replicas, they have been sold out for a while though.

    So in 5 years you haven't needed to change the battery? This calculator isn't rechargeable at all, so that's very good going.

    • @commtechengineer612
      @commtechengineer612  Před 2 lety

      Yeah for some reason I thought it was rechargeable but no....and yes that is the original battery.

    Not so much a review as a simple introduction...but thanks anyway. I've had mine for about 2 years now and it's starting to become much beloved. Fantastic craftsmanship, awesome product. Currently I'm saving up for two (maybe three) other models from SwissMicros, too.

      Same here! I am really interested in the credit card size replicas but they have been sold out for a while.

    Now, you can also order it from Amazon.

    Exactly what part of this was a review?

  • @lajexander
    @lajexander Před 2 lety

    Wait... Where's the actual review? I'm thinking of getting this or maybe a WP34s. This gave me nothing in terms of buying advice.

      Sorry about that I made a quick and dirty video and the message (or lack of message) came across incorrectly. Still trying to find a niche..... But regardless it is an amazing calculator.
