Yep just look at now we got bruno rashford who scores alot of goals but our defence are not great we win matches when attackers are at their best but we concede way too many goals with maguire and lindelof at the back they just dont work together. they are too simular and they got 0 pace, i think what we should do is buy a couple of cbs that are different than these two, bailly is but sadly he cant go more than 3-4 games before he is out for 3-4 games

They were perfect. There were a lot of great defensive pairings at the time, in and outside the premier League. But none worked so perfectly with each other than these two. As a united fan, watching them playing in the back really gave us a sense of safety.
Also shout out to Edwin Van dar sar for being the most consistent footballer I've ever seen. Hardly ever saw him make a mistake or fumble, which is often harder than even flashy saves.

Rio was great on the ball, good vision and great leadership that lifted the dressing room with his fun antics. Vidic was a monster strikers hated going up against, winning almost every ball in the air, winning so many tackles, and was not afraid to put his body on the line to keep a clean sheet. Great partnership and one of if not the best defensive duo in premier league history.
