- Tonight:
- Dummy first time on a supermoto
- Special thanks to Motodepoo, Tallinn for the bike!
- All kinds of fun but also some wobble
- Getting real lazy writing descriptions.. not sure anyone actually ever reads it..
- Still, some things I didn't mention about the bike:
- It's fuel-injected, the tank holds 12 litres ie 3.17 U.S. gallons of fuel, it's liquid cooled

Enjoyed the video, great commentary. Thankyou for posting. Regards from Australia.
Cheers, mate!
Great review dude. Looks a nice bike, that speed wobble is a bit of a concern. It'd be too tall for me, I'm only 5'9. I like the style of it, yeh you see the huskie resemblance.
Coolio man, new toy for you maybe? ,lol.
Tcrs ✊
Thanks, man!
I wish I could have that bike for a little bit longer.. for a long weekend, lets say... Just to brake that thing in and see, if all my concerns were caused by something, that would go away once the bike is fully ready to be ridden..
But of all the bikes I've tried out, this one seems, like I could have the most fun on, so yeah, I am strongly considering it..
Good to see a review of one of these. I've had a few different big single cylinder bikes (supermoto & enduro) and wobble at speed is quite common, usually associated with having high profile front tyre. the bike looks a little tame on full throttle for me, I like more power than that. Maybe the 500 is more for me.
+doodlepugg I think I would agree on the tame thing.. But I can't imagine a single being very powerful?.. My experience is lacking at times..
ElectroMoto a single is very powerfull, especially when you accelerate on low speed. Yeah the high speed isnt high, but as example, a 690 smcr accelerates 0-100 in 4,4 seconds and can also pop a wheelie over 100kmh ^^
+Nkyy Yeah, I especially love how controlled the power delivery is.. or I mean how it is transferred through the wheels into the ground. It doesn't feel explosive, but surprisingly calm. But fast.. A weird combination.
So the first time I heard that there will be a proper light weight enduro bike from the Husqvarna engineers I was super stoked because the Husqvarna 701 that I really like is still a KTM 690 - I like KTM but not the cult movement behind it and KTMs do need a bit more care than some other bikes. Now that this bike is here and more than 2K cheaper than the "Husqvarna" 701 it is hard to resist the temptation of getting one... but I must... Well anywho it will go to my bucket list for sure!
If you do plan to get one, please get the enduro version :)
I'll be happy to leave the enduro version waiting for you ;)
After I nearly crashed the XT660r on its enduro wheels, I know I would be much happier with regular tires.. :D
And other than an odd venture off the tarmac I ride 98% of the time in the city still...
But you should definitely go and try one out! Just give Motodepoo a call and say you want to try it out and you agree on a time and then just take your license with you and you sign a paper (I totally did not read what was on the paper.. LOL) and you're good to go! ;)
The service intervals are 3000 mile oil changes and 6000 mile valve checks. Bit of a turn off for me. I'm looking at a 701 or 690 instead
I can totally understand that. Having now ridden the 690 myself I have to say.. besides way better looks, the smooth fuel delivery is something that would make the price difference worthwhile. And if the service intervals are more frequent as well.. even more so.
ElectroMoto 2/3 the price however and any 2006-2010 husky parts should work
also in my opinion the 650 has the better looks, probably not in the standard design but the form of it is what i like wayyyy more than 690 or the blue 690 also ive driven all 3 of them (no the 650 but the pretty much 1:1 husqvarna 630 sms) for quite alot of km and gotta say the husqy handling suits me way better (all driven on conti attack sm) i dont really like the super light front of the pumpkin but i guess its preference
The power output per cc is the same as previous big singles I've had, which done over 40k miles before needing rebuilds. I never got chance to go back in for my test ride as my other half ended up in hospital. CRF's and the like are a much higher state of tune.
+doodlepugg Oh man, hope your other half will be out soon! Stay strong. ✊
I get those same wobbles under hard acceleration on my te511. I'm thinking it can be fixed by adjusting the rear shock. In any case, a steering damper is never overkill.
I hear the steering damper is the most popular fix indeed
I love this Bike
I feel ya.. The more I think about this bike the more I wonder if it should be in my life...
I will do - they have both the 300 & 500. I'd imagine the 300 still feels more lively than the 600 as it's more geared toward competition use. But I'll find out!
300 and 500 are race bikes. So that means oil changes every 10 hours (i think) and a top end rebuild at 100 hours.
Is it true for 4-stroke machines as well?
Well thats exactly for 4strokes. They are dirt bikes arent they? Look up the maintenance on a crf 450 for example
The XT feel heavy due to tame power delivery - I had the same thing with a CCM 644 (you'll have to google it, it has a Suzuki XF freewind motor in a light enduro frame) but as soon as I opened up the airbox and re- jetted it was a whole different animal. Wheelies on tap. with regards to commuting; a crf is definitely no use for it. They need rebuilds every 40 hours. I'm not sure about the SWM 500 as there's very little info out there. I have a dealer near me which has a brand new one in stock, so I'll chat to them about it tomorrow.
+doodlepugg Awesome! I'd be very happy if you shared, what you heard from your dealer..
Does not sound as thumpy as the KTMs. Maybe a performance exhaust would be best.
Im getting myself a SM in the next few months and these seem like a good price new
It does feel slightly tamer than the KTM, but I'm sure a proper brake in, an exhaust swap and a good map could make it into a considerable machine..
the "Hours" you were wondering about are the enginehours, the time the engine has already run, so thats kinda sketchy by the owner to say its 0 km ;)
+Fluffy Bacon Oh man.. I always figured hours were a two stroke thing... But it was a brand new machine, everything was zero on the clocks 😉
i can only speak for the 630 but for all i know theyre pretty much 1:1 and husqy said in the booklet that the engineruntime isnt saved in the speedometer like the mileage is, so it cant be deleted that easily. Hourcounting is pretty much a competetive-bike-thing coming mostly from 2stroke cross bikes yea but for some reason husqvarna was like "oh yea why not throw it in there?" even tho the 630 is probably the bike you want to move on the track the least out of all husqvarnas excluding the 650 obviously(not the swm, the "husqvarna" 650) Betas for example also have an hour-only count on their fourstrokes
Popped in to the bike shop today to ask about the 500sm - the guy that knows his stuff about them is off today so I didn't really get a chance to chat about it. I'll pop back in tomorrow for a test ride and chat and will report back. They did fire it up for me, and I have to say I'm surprised it's street legal with how loud it is!
Very good, it'd be interesting to hear what kind of machine it is..
I just checked our local dealer and they only have the enduro version of the 500 in stock and they're unlikely to renew the stock before next spring... :( Then again, the riding season over here will end in two months anyway..
Having issues replying to the comment. Try a crf450, you'll crap yourself. They wheelie in every gear. It's the light weight and brutal power delivery that makes them so fast. I'd imagine the 500 swm is more race oriented as it weighs 120kg!
+doodlepugg Oh, didn't think of the weight.. :D That is a good point and something I don't like about the XT660r for instance, that it feels so damn heavy.. Now I'm really interested in the 500. But would it do well commuting? also 55mph/90kmh for a few hours? Or would it be a pure hooligan machine?
I know who the bike is, but.
SWM= Speedy Working Motorcycles. Cool name.
dumpster diver It stands for Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano the guy that started the company! The other name is just a joke what ppl say
speeedy wheelie machine, are u finnish?
+oG Pyromaniac Close 😄 I’m Estonian, we live right next to the Finns. I figure our languages (and hence the accents) are similar.
ElectroMoto close enough :D i see there is similar roadsigns so i tried to guess from them :D
+oG Pyromaniac You should see our southern neighbor, Latvia. Other than totally different language everything looks pretty much exactly the same 😆
It does not mean speedy works machine! It stands for Sironi Vergani Vimercate Milano the guy that started the company. Check you're facts...
I got my facts from the company's website. At the moment it reads: "To face this merging hegemony, two riders and friends with the same passion for off-road decided to build their own motorcycle, establishing SWM, that stays for Speedy Working Motors." (www[dot]swm-motorcycles[dot]it/en/company/history/
I guess it's one thing where the name came from, it's another thing how the company defines itself now..
Looks lika a 2013 Husqvarna TR650
It might be because the man and engineer behind the resurrection of SWM Ampelio Macchi used to be behind Cagiva, Husqvarna and Aprilia.. SM650R has essentially the same engine Husqvarnas used to have before KTM took it over. :)
I almost bought this bike I'm glad I saw that wobble wobble! So I won't be getting it anymore hehe
Nothing a little steering damper wouldn’t fix ;)
funny guy ;)
your accent is weird where are you from?
+JinKazama92
I am from Estonia.
You are welcome to ask now, what and where is that.. Most everyone does 😁
ElectroMoto
amazing :) this bike is soooo expensive here in philippines....
really? must be because it's a rare European import.. it's one of the cheaper bikes over here
Get some riding gear.
+Greepermann Working on it 👍
