Notes from back in the 70's...
ALWAYS put your narrowest tires on for scrutiny. Once you have the Auth Sticker on your roll-bar, put the tires that you REALLY want on.
Skid pans perform 2 major functions:
1) prevent rocks from finding their way into your sump.
But just as importantly,
2) Tie ALL POSSIBLE suspension mount points together so that they are (mostly) prevented from bending out of position on the big yumps and other "OH F#CK" moments.
3) Prevent sub-frames from acting like trapezoids and distorting on previously mentioned "OH F#CK" moments.
4) Every extra piece of metal (weight) should perform at least 2, possibly more, functions.
(that includes the "cabbage" - aka the navigator...)
But most of all, HAVE FUN
ha ha, thats brilliant, thank you
Don't forget to put a dab of heavy grease in those allen head screws - your crew (and you) will be thankful when they're not wasting time digging out small rocks and dried mud before they can fit a wrench to them.
PS: I'd put grooved sidewalls on the front - classic Mini terminal understeer means they'll be sideways to the direction of travel as often as the rears, but as they also have power to them, I think you're more likely to do damage on rocks and sticks that the rear would just ride over. But I'm no expert - it'll be interesting to see what everyone else thinks. Cheers, mate. 👍
thank you, yes i took your advice with the grease and i only really appreciated it when i had to undo an allen bolt i had missed - top tip thank you
Kev, Congratulations to both of you on your class win and the mini looks great. I must make time and get round to joining a local club. Cheers Dave

cheers, it was an amazing event, a bit harsh for a classic mini but fun all the same.
Sexy off-road tyres hehe
yea it looks great with knobbly - makes it look how a rally mini should :)
I’m going to borrow your Jack point stripe identification… love it
cheers - yea but I borrowed it from the BMC rally teams form the 1960s - it does look good though and super useful :)
Hi. First of all well done on your achievements with your mini. I m interested on those 12inch gravel tyres. Can you please tell me the model of that tyres? Thanks
thank you so much - unfortunately they have now gone to a new owner. sorry about that, but they were Maxsport Hakka Tyres - www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/maxsport-hakka-tyre-243710/
