- “Straight Up” will receive its LA premiere as the 'breakthrough centerpiece' at Outfest tonight, July 23 at 7 p.m. and tomorrow at 9:45 p.m. at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres. This segment aired on the KTLA 5 Morning News, Tuesday, July 23, 2019.
James Sweeney is mind-blowing in the movie. And the fact that he directed, co-wrote, produced and acted in the movie is proof of his Talent and confidence in himself.
Just finished the movie, really great.

I just finished watching it for a second time. It is an amazing movie and ever performance is superb. Funny and touching and different than anything I have ever seen. I am so happy this got made.
Loved the movie! But hate how the interviewers are treating james. Asking questions to randall instead of james, and every time they do come to james it's about his age, instead of asking about the movie! I love randall park, but this movie is james's creation, they should be focused more on him and his creative process. They make it seem like randall was the biggest part of the movie, when he was in it for like 5 minutes! Randall tried to give credit to james, but it's sad to see how the rest treated him.
Such a great movie! This interviewer played the young angle a little hard with a talented writer/director/actor...
