This song was written and composed by RM in in one take in 40 minutes after he was discharged from hospital after having a surgery. RM is a genius and V is a multitalented king.

Singularity is from their album Love Yourself - Tear. And the album is all about the way we hide our true selves, which leads to heartache in our relationships with others... hence the masks in the choreography. If you read the lyrics you will find that it's heartbreaking.
I love how you appreciate so many aspects of this. This isn't about making babies, though. It's about silencing yourself for the sake of a toxic relationship, but your inner conscious is screaming to come out.

Vs Stigma and Singularity are my two favourite BTS songs, over any other BTS group or solo songs. The RnB soulful feel, mmmm. So smooth. The hatred isn’t between the groups it’s between some toxic members of many fandoms.

Singularity is the intro to the Love Yourself: Tear album, which is the message that if you do not stay true to yourself, love won’t last (whether if it’s another person or yourself) and you will ultimately suffer. You could say the album is the pain part of learning to love yourself.
Now there is by no means an “official” meaning of the song & mv. However, many Armys theorized it reflects both Ophelia and Narcissus (which you got it on Discord). Basically as you said, it’s a conflict of finding balance between loving yourself (Narcissus) and loving others (Ophelia). Ophelia is represented in lyrics such as “I dumped myself into the lake. I buried my voice for you.” This is loving others too much to the point you sacrifice and change yourself in the process to be seen as perfect in the eyes of someone else. (Fake Love- which is another BTS song and what comes after Singularity in the album! It has a similar message of loving the other too much that you fake/sacrifice yourself to seem perfect. But that ultimately leads to unhappiness bc you didn’t stay true to yourself). Narcissus is represented with V looking into the water’s reflection. Sort of a cautionary contrast that, yes, you should love yourself but not to levels of narcissism (Narcissistic love is superficial).
I’m sure a more passionate ARMY theorist can explain Singularity better than me. Either way, this really is a masterpiece that hit me a bit too much when it came out. However, it made me grow as a person, helped me to love myself, and ultimately be happy along with the rest of the Love Yourself series. Thus why BTS has a special place in my heart 💜 PS sorry for the long essay 🤣

if and when you react to his song Stigma... there is no music video. You will find lyric videos (a good idea, since you need to know what the song is about) and there is a spectacular video of his live performance of Stigma. I can't recommend it enough. I actually downloaded the live to my laptop because I couldn't find it on Spotify.

Exactly my reaction when I first saw/heard this MV. I'm one of those people who much prefers older pre-DNA era BTS, and this song is probably the only one I really loved in the newer era.

There's a reason why bts is at the top. It's unfortunate that you guys seem to be careful about reacting to them because of the opinions of other fandoms
(John) Steve and I are very aware of the "war" that seems to come between certain fandoms. I will admit. It was intimidating at first. Also, we had very few rare requests for BTS when we first started. Only recently have those begun to pick up. I personally like them a lot (even though I am a VIP) talent is talent and good music is want it is. This song is the perfect example of that. There has yet to be one BTS song that Steve and I don't like. Can't wait to see more. :)
His voice is really good. He is a great performer. You should check out his live performance for singularity, he's got insane stage presence and check out his other song 'stigma' which is kind of the same vibe as this
