Great breakdown. This was worth every cent. Wait I didn't pay for it. I feel like I should have. Keep up the great work.
Absolute facts
The ability to take the D series amplifier and wire everything into one box, no rca's (if using stock deck), no distribution blocks, no mazes, no need for a big & complicated amp rack, just one neat and tidy install with all of the adjustability (other than Epicentre of course) is just really, really appealing for that clean look. Not to mention, easy to troubleshoot if it's only one piece of equipment.
Excellent video! After watching, I think my planned system is missing a piece.
I'm hooked on your channel, been binge watching 2 weeks straight. Keep up the informative work you provide.
Same same..although my audio guy has F it all up to sell me shitty products replacing Mark Levinson.
There was very little content on their products in terms of reviews. I've been waiting on reviews a while now. Their site was the only means of getting info. Great job !
I've always wanted to up my audio knowledge and this helps, thanks!
Great job explaining the differences.
Just got my LC2i for my system build. Canât wait to get the rest so I can install it all.
It's great that you make these videos and the build you did for your dad's car was nice and simple. Could you one day make a budget build that provides amazing sound using some easy cost-effective equipment? As some of the components that you tend to showcase are not very affordable to everyone like me. I know you pretty much get what you pay for but there has to be a middle ground / budget-friendly for those of us on a tight budget but still want some amazing sound in our vehicles. is this even possible to achieve? or am I just reaching for the stars...
Speechless! Bravo đ So much more helpful than the other 10 videos I watched!đ
Your keeping our spirits up with this fun video Mark. Keep it up and stay safe and healthy!đđđ»đđđ
You know what I've always thought I was pretty good with systems...... Then I met your channel â your channel is boss love how you have the ability to break down all the more expensive things I couldn't ever get around to figuring out thanks for the info
Marks knowledge + video tutorials = mind blown !!! Thanks Jedi Master ..
Iâve been using audio control epicenter since 2003 itâs just awesome!!
Thanks Mark that clears things up somewhat for me. Btw great show me and my son have learned a lot. Your work quality along with what 5 star is doing is second too none.
I just recently apprecially purchase their product and my favorite part of the whole experience was when I needed assistance I called their support number and the first ring I got a real person who assisted me with real advice not answering machine not a robot not BS hold a person an actual person that knew what they were doing to help me that's why I'm a customer for life
Great video! You are a born teacher Mark. Great rundown of AudioContol gear!
Thank you so much for this. This is informative yet easy enough for a novice to gain from this presentation.
Thanks Mark!! I was totally unaware they had all these different items. I was having trouble deciding what to get when I thought they only had 4 or 5 different things and now I'm WAY WAY worse off because they make so much rad stuff. So thanks for that, appreciate it. LoL. Jokes aside I did learn a bunch more about what they offer and have a better idea of what to get now so I do appreciate that! Few people have said comments on prices and how high they are but if u think about it they are not that much. Find any other company and build a system that sounds as good with the features and all the sick a$$ tech they have and that looks as good and has such a small foot print for install options and add up what you would need to spend then. Thats if you can find anything that comes close to what they have put out I mean. Not a easy task!
Great video! I really enjoyed the way you explained these things. I always struggle with explaining signal processing/Time alignment, etc. to anyone. From now on I will just show them this video. Shouldnât be too many questions after that. I learned a few things about Audiocontrolâs âDâ series processors and amplifiers, too. Iâve always been a user/believer in the epicenter, and Audiocontrol products in general and donât see that changing anytime in the near future!
I just purchased a â22 $60k vehicle that sounds worse than my â90 stock Mustang! I havenât needed to upgrade beyond factory for a cool minute! However, now iâm going to need a full blown re-education in car audio and THIS channel will be my professor!
I was waiting this video for a long time, thank you!!!
Great explanations, lessons, videos...thanks & keep up the
great work.
I've always had questions about processing I really appreciate this video.
I like the precision in your concise explanation
I got confused and just hooked my speakers straight to the battery so they would have enough power! Works great! But really thanks for the videos your the man!
Thanks for clearing this up for me. I was thinking about adding an EQ to my system and wasn't sure about it. I am now!
Great video. Lots of information here and well explained. Keep up the great content man. Very helpful for many of us.
Your videos are always well explained, now that I finally bought a laptop I can go ahead and get a dsp
This is very informative and helps answer a lot of my questions about my build.
in 1981 my dad bought plastic box KRACO 5" speakers for his work truck with something called a CONCORD tape deck, no amp none of all these expensive things in the video, just speakers to the tape deck,it rocked.
Awesome video explaining, took me a lot of research and reading to work out that instead of having a panel full of units all i needed was a good dsp to achieve most of whats needed for quality sounding system. Settled on a Helix P Six mk2 dsp-amp and a Helix M One X Mono Amp for the subs, still installing it all but i got high hopes for it all running Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers.
Great video mark, always learning something new every time đđđđđ
Man I'm glad you're doing this.
Great video! You explained everything I wanted know and more.
Amazing straight forward clear explanation đđ
Thanks Mark. Excellent overview.
Very well explained, thank you.
Thanks for the explanation. Helps a lot
Thanks for the information.
Best video to explain this ever!! So awesome. Thanks!!
Really appreciate your video so much detail
This explains thing so good. Very informative stuff.
Excellent teacher!!!! Thanks!
Great video as always.
What I would like, and I think many people more is this: I have a fairly new car of 2019, (not really interesting but it's a Skoda Octavia stationwagon) and it has quite crappy audio, dab+ (which I really like, we have a really good dab+ network in the Netherlands) and Bluetooth connectivity. But cheap speakers and cheap amplifier. And no line outs. I would like to see a video how to use a standard main unit and change main speakers and maybe add a subwoofer. And on a budget since most people can't afford all the equipment you use. (i like the audio control lc2 you mentioned, it's affordable)
Would be great!
Great video broâŠ. Iâm well informed ( as usual)âŠ. Keep it up⊠the Jedi of car audio installation đ
Thanks for this video man!!!!
Thanks for the break down.
Really love Audio Control's Epicenter đ
I'm trying to find a way to tune the epicenter with the lc7i
I hate these videos and here is why:
I used to be a car audio nut, always had custom gear in my vehicles, and home. I left a job 5 years ago, and have spent all my time taking care of my disabled mother - very tiny income from doing some graphic design and as a gear nerd (hardware, electronics, items in general) I watch this video and only feel like poo because I can't afford it. I will be looking for work again here soon but the first 6 months of my money will go to my mothers house to restore it.
I love care audio, quality and thump, I just miss it, and am jealous I can't have it LOL.
CarAudioFabrication keep up the great videos. They are very educational and useful to those that need the education. GG â„
It's really cool that Audiocontrol is stil alive!
I still have a pair of good old EQT's and one 24XS at home.
Of course i also have an old Analyzer and it's still working like a charm althought i don't use it anymore.
Maybe i'll build a good old school system some day.
btw. I really like your videos! I watch them all :)
Yeah, I didn't realize they were that old. I remember every other old school brand from the 80s and 90s, but don't remember AC! What kinda rock was I livin under? Lol...
Audiocontrol used to make a model called the ESP-3
it's a center channel/spatial enhancement processor that was very cool
Holly crap my heads spinning and hurting now thanks?!
0:13 makes me melt seeing this, drooling!
Gracias Señor....There is not such a great and explanatory video like this one...not even in spanish....I was looking forward a video like this one in spanish and it doesnt exist....thanks amigo....
This helps a lot
Tons of help amigo thank you!!! learning all this is new to me..always waching your vids..awesome đ explaining everything very helpful thank you again God Bless..đđđ
Great overview.
Nice& informative, definetly needed the knowledge to know which to hook up & where.đđđđđđđđđđ
I think it's safe to say AudioControl spends A LOT of money on R&D (maybe too much!)
Iâm really enjoying your channel ! Thank you for the Professionalism. As a result of my viewing today, I think I might Abandon my current plan for my Van.
I have (planned) 2-way Components in âcockpitâ, and 3-way Components in rear main van body, NO sub (for a while), and directed off of a 4ch Pioneer HU output.
If I relied upon included Passive crossovers from speaker manufacturer, I COULD get by with a moderate quality 4ch Class D amp.
** BTW, my listening preference is exclusively Fidelity/SQ orientation.
As a result of your relevant videos, Iâm torn between powering Each piece of the components with an amplified channel (=10ch.), which might be cost-prohibitive (for decent gear).
Alternatively, 4ch of amplification to the âfour cornersâ, with (tuning) from a DSP (8 or 10ch ?).
Or âŠ. ?? (ANY input would be AWESOME).
I love the separation that can be achieved through components. Oh, and I do Not want to have to alter my vehicle electronics (i.e. Alternator).
I would be THRILLED to get a Reply đŹ
Thanks for sharing đđŸ
Very informative
I love the audiocontrol products , in my car I have a overdrive an epicenter and the 2xs crossover, and I have the matrix for my next build
I have a epicenter and want to get the matrix did u put the matrix before the epicenter or after
Great information
Another great dish from the Kitchen
cool video and good information
Thank you so much, Mark. Your videos have taught me all I know about car audio. It appears The Epicenter functionality is not built in to the DSP. Is it as simple as connecting the RCA subwoofer outputs from the DSP into The Epicenter and The Epicenter outputs into the sub amp?
I have the DDX9905s and the Alpine PDX F6 plus M12 mono.
Now the Kenwood can get to full volume with no distortion but has 5v pre-outs where the 4 channel F6 amp accepts a maximum input of 4v.
Now would there be any issues here or should I raise the volume on the head unit using the test tones until I see a max of 4v from the RCA's?
Thanks in advance!
Don't overthink it. Plug it in and set your gains so it's loud enough for your normal listening levels without clipping if you decide to crank it up here and there. Setting gains by voltage alone are likely to yield poor results. Just because your amp accepts "4v max" inputs, doesn't mean it can't go higher or that you're actually sending more than 4v into it at all times. Just turn down the gain on your amp if it's too much. I know they say the amp gain is not a volume knob, but it actually is, in the same manner as the volume knob on your head unit controls the gain of its internal amplifier.
@@vitaminb4869 Never had an issue before but being told different things.
I can understand if you have 8v pre out max or higher but something with 5v max shouldn't have issues as you stated especially since music is dynamic and it ain't no sine wave being used.
Don't have a distortion detector or handheld oscilloscope but know the head unit is clean at max volume from online vids but would be using ohms law to get the desired wattage or AC voltage output from the amps.
From there I'll throw in some decent quality music and see how it all sounds.
Thanks for the reply!
@@tee_tow If you never had an issue before and all was and is working well, then I wouldn't touch a thing just because someone somewhere on the internet said that it's all wrong.
You don't need a distortion detector. You can easily hear distortion and clipping. I tried setting my gains with an oscilloscope and a sine wave, but didn't like the results and just set it by ear.
@@vitaminb4869 Yeah I here yah.
Haven't installed in a couple of years and never had issues then especially with "decent" quality equipment.
Not my car but don't really see many issues between these components, just wanna be on the safe side.
That's just it i've asked a couple of Pros from workshops and one said to match the head unit voltage and the other said not to worry about it as the difference is marginal đ€·ââïž
But I will start with correct AC voltage coming out of the amps to suit the wattage that I want to match the speakers using a dmm then after listening sessions will adjust from there as usual.
Thanks again!
Hey Mark, As always this is an excellent video. I have a LCQ-1, it works well but there is pink noise comming from it and I can't solve it. I tried with the jumpers and checking the ground but nothing changed. Any Idea?
Very informative, I like it. I do prefer just going with an eq, a crossover and multiple amps tho.
Me too man.
Great Video....
If you had a an aftermarket headunit such as a kenwood or whatever with 13 band eq or more, could you just tune the response with an RTA and the built in eq?
Bravo excellent good video
My pioneer avh601 has a set of front outputs, rear and sub out...I have my epicenter on the rear output since it requires a full range signal before my mono amp. I now want to add a 4 channel amp to power my highs (6 speakers total). So I will be getting the signal from the front output. My amp doesn't have 2/4 switch. So will I need to add 2 Y splitters near the head unit or do I put the Y splitters at the end near the amp. Or it doesn't matter?
Hi MARK, thank you for your great videos and explications. Really very helpful. Please I d like to ask you if there is any chance to upgrade door speakers civic 98 or I have juste to replace them for better ones. Thanks.
All of that stuff looks so professional and cool, great video
So essentially I can either use LC2i and epicenter or simply go for epicenter plus and get the same quality of sound? (I am using the factory head unit).
Would you still need to use a Line output converter when using the amplifier with the built in DSP? Or can you go from the factory speaker wire straight to the amp?
Im planning on adding a loc on a 71 beetle, but it only has 1 speaker. Can I wire the 2 inputs from loc in series to the 1 speaker output?
Do you have a video explaining what technical specs to look for when picking an amps or speakers? Signal to noise ratio, Sensitivity, THD and what not. Thanks.
@Mark, would it be advisable to use the DM-810 in a fresh water wake boat in an enclosed area but exposed to high humidity ?
Hello Mark. I am using the D-6.1200 for my front Focal 6.5 " 3 way . I have then a LC.800 for the 6.5 co-axle Focal for the rear doors and Kenwood excelon KFC134 for the D pillars ( Rear fill ) . Then I am using a AMC1.300 with Epicenter for 2 10" Pioneer shallow mount box for Sub's Head unit will be a Kenwood 696S. Am I going in the right direction ? Have all these items now sitting on my bench for install .
I wanna thank you for all the knowledge Ive picked up since subscribing to your channel. I pretty much watch this channel just aout everyday and some videos 2-3 times. I have a 300 with Beats Audio and I have had the beats audio removed and replaced the 6x9âs with 6.5âs and replaced the factory with 3.5â with some new ones. I have added a 15â kicker L7 4 ohm sub. I purchased the LC2i because at the time I figured it would work but Im missing sound. Im running a sub amp and an midrange amp but my rcaâs wont work together. Its either one or the other to get sound and Im only able to use one channel on my highs amp. Ive been told I should have purchsed an 8 channel LC but at this point my trust is shot. If I could get any input I would be grateful. I would hate to have to pay a chunk to get everything redone. Thanks in advance.
Is their something else I can use instead of the AudioControl Matrix Plus Black Six Channel Line Driver?
Hi. Would you still use an epicentre with a dsp? And where would you mount it?? Between unit and dsp, dsp and sub amp? Thanks
Do you have any recommendations for oem integration for dsp? I know some installers are using match products to integrate a dsp into the factory premium audio systems. Do you have any experience with this or know any products that can do it? Rewording this, are there any amplifiers with speaker level outputs rather than low level/rcA?
I have an lc2i with factory radio going out to 1 amp for bass & then 2 amps to 2 different boxes with mid ranges and tweeters on them .
If I have bose factory amplifier and dont want bypass just add a amp and subwoofer. Would tapping into the 6Ă9s with the lci2? If so would I tap the line before or after the factory amplifier?
Hi MARK, thank you for your explication. Please I d like to ask you if there is any chance to upgrade door speakers civic 98 by adding rings or I have juste to replace them for better ones. Thanks.
Im running a stock hu. Someone advised me to get an eq and the eq I was suggested was the clarion 7 band eq 8v pre out. Does this boost my signal going to my amp from the stock hu/loc?
Thanks man. For simplicity what do you need as a complete unit? Man this is so much...
Great video, thanks for sharing!! Lots of great resources to insure high quality audio!!
Nice!
How would I go about my setup? I have the LC2i Pro but my 6x8 in the door are aftermarket kickers. I'm clipping (making the maximized yellow light register) way before I even get my volume to 3/4 maxed. I'm assuming that means I have more than 400 watts on the input side. Suggestions or additional questions I can answer to help diagnose?
Iâm wanting to upgrade my stock system in my 2015 f-150. Thinking of installing the kappa 90csx component speakers up front for now what is the proper way to do it? May be adding a 4ch amplifier later. Can you point in the correct direction!
What if I have the 4th gen ram 1500 9 speaker alpine system but I want better door speakers and to add a JL audio 12 w3v3-4 subwoofer and add an amp. Which line output converter would I need? I also have a Sony XAV-V10BT aftermarket receiver already installed. When I turn up the volume somewhere between 18 or 19 I start hearing static.
The only Audio Control component I've ever owned was a ESP-3 single processor I bought in the early 90's. Heck, I still have now in my closet.
I have an aftermarket radio , pioneer equalizer, crossover and amps for the mids and subwoofer , i want to install a digital bass processor, at what stage do I hook it up?
After the headset before the Eq? Or after the Eq ?
Looks like a great way to go active
Just to clarify the order these components go, so from factory head unit would be line out converter to equalizer to crossover to amplifier?
What if I wanted to add the epicenter into the components listed above? What would the order be? The epicenter right after the crossover and before the subwoofer amp?
