Join me as I explore the spectacular painted monasteries of Moldavia/Bucovina on a day trip from Suceava, Romania.
In this video we visit 4 of the 8 churches. Voronet, Sucevita, Moldovita and Humor Monastery. Some of these churches were built by Stefan the Great and Petru Rares, who were both rulers of Moldavia in the 15th and 16th centuries, known for their military prowess and contributions to the cultural and architectural heritage of the region.
The churches showcase some of the most intricate and well-preserved medieval paintings/frescoes in Europe.
The painted monasteries are not just a feast for the eyes - they also hold significant historical and cultural value. They were built during a time when Moldavia was constantly under threat from invaders, and their strong fortifications served as a form of protection for the local communities. Wow thanks this was so beautiful I plan to visit Romania soon so big plus for me ,I was hoping to stay in a monastery overnight or for a few days an Orthodox one ,it’s beautiful can’t wait ,great camera work especially the drone footage

Well, dear, You saw only 4 of 47 only in Moldova; and all the others from the southern part of Romania, known as Valahia/Țara Românească, also those from Transilvania. Surprising to see someone young visiting Ro and visiting monasteries. Good for You!
