@@TheArcaneLibrary My beloved is always saying, more game books....really! LOL
ARhhghhthhhhhhGggggggg
Same brother
Thanks Kelsey! You're the best :)
Two of my favorite folks in the RPG realm in one place!? What is this, a crossover episode? 😂❤
This is how awesome Kelsey is: creates best indie rpg, & makes a video just to promote other indies.
She cares about the industry and the potential fun to be had by all of us.
Damn her! This makes no sense!
@@notreallydavid Then let chaos take the world.
I love Independent TTRPG month - can we do this every year, please?
I think we shall! :)
I never would have imagined back in 79 when I first was introduced to the hobby that it would become my lifetime hobby but I sure am glad I entered that magical portal so many years ago.
Heck yeah! Love to see JP get that recognition!!
Oh, wow! I love your channel!
@@robertwinslade3104 Ah shucks! Thank you!!
I've been struggling with how to structure and format my own campaign setting, but The Dark of Hot Springs Island just smashed that mental barrier with its masterful presentation.
I love JP Coovert's work! Also, Swordfish Islands Dark of Hotsprings Islands and Tomb of the Black Sand are great fun! I will have to check out the other two recommendations, as I haven't heard of those until now!
Ooooooh Dark of Hot Springs island is my jam! Looks so cool. Thanks for sharing Kelsey!
Inspired by The Islands of Purple-Haunted Putrescence!
I really appreciate that you highlighted some "under the radar" products. Even within the OSR CZcams community, too often we get reviews of well-known books at the expense of lesser-known works. Thank you!
I hope this "July indipendent rpg month" takes momentum and becomes an habit, because it's very useful for the community.
As for the games you've talked about, I'm very curious about the guides (more specifically the one about drawing maps, since I'm not very good at it) and the scipunk anthology (could come in handy, expecially since I've got more fantasy stuff than scifi one on my rpg shelf).
I always appreciate your excitement to teach and pay it forward in this sphere
we need a keep on the borderlands style module for shadowdark
I totally agree! :D Something like that might be in the works...
It always puts a smile to my face to see people giving shout outs to JP Coovert
The guys deserves so much more attention ❤
Ran a like 4 year campaign in Hot Springs Island. Incredible books. So close to my heart.
Fun video! Great job! The indie scene is very creative- glad you are featuring these amazing products
Darnit. Now I have to go get Sci Punk. Good job! 😉
I'm running JP Coovert's awesome campaign, Flik Silverpen's Guide to Dragon Town, and I love his videos and art style so much! He really captures the way I see DnD in my head, and his campaign is creative and super fun.
Highly recommend his videos and campaign books as well as his drawing guides!
I'm glad to hear you're playing it. I find it's charming as heck, but I don't think I could find people to play it.
The Queen has spoken.
I will seek out this Island of Hot Springs and see what it has to offer.
To me, JP is carrying on in the "art can be fun and easy" style I learned as a kid from the books of Ed Emberley. And he applies it to game design as well. He's great to watch and an excellent example to follow. He fits right in with the modern rules-light style of rpg's. (We'll call it gaming's minimalist period someday.) Congrats on your own game's success btw. Love it too! #edemberley
Yes, please cover more game systems. You’ve got such great perspective to add in this space
+1 (and more) for JP Coovert!
Thanks for the video! Nice to see so much going on in the thriving Indie RPG scene!
Mad respect for this video. Of everything mentioned I was really only aware of the Dark of Hot Springs Island. I will wind up purchasing at least a few of these, if not all. We need more videos like this discussing, reviewing and promoting independent work and artists!
Hey Kelsey, thanks for joining the Indie July movement! Great video!
Best month, the Independent TTRPG month!! All month should look like this one, and maybe reserve 1 month to talk about D&D instead... meanwhile let's dive in TTRPG!! there are so many, and full of cool ideas... love it.
Stygian Library and Deep Carbon Observatory!
I aaaaaalmost did Stygian Library for this, but I've seen it talked about fairly widely and I wanted to keep the "well known" one to just one entry (Dark of Hot Springs Island)! :D
Thanks for the spotlight on indie developers. Look forward to seeing more.
MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS! (love it) Those are some great stuff.
JP map making is so fun
I always love hearing you talk about JP!
Awesome reviews. Thanks for supporting and creating indie TTRPGS! The Folklore Bestiary looks amazing. Very intrigued!
Fantastic selection!
This is a literal must-haves shopping list of incredible products from the community and I love it!
Some juicy ones to show, jp and hank both are big inspirations for drawing and putting out fun easy to use games
Grabbed four of those Flik Silverpen guides. I love stuff like that to spark the imagination. Thanks for the recommend!
Great post, Kelsey! I'll definitely be checking out some of these, in particular the Sci-Punk anthology and Folklore Bestiary. Always like to hear about less well-known stuff.
I love to see indie creators & games get some well-deserved attention!! 🤓⚔️
Nice list! Thanks for sharing.
Loving ICRPG, and JPs Zines, Hot Springs Island is a new one for me. Thank you, Kelsey!!!!!
Great video! I am definitely going to check out The Merry Mushmen's Folklore Bestiary. Thanks for the heads up!
All of these look great!
So awesome, we love supporting Indie creators and companies. I bought all these books. Super cool stuff!
Merry Mushmen makes some cool stuff. Anything Runehammer/Brandish cranks out is fun and gameable. He really puts his philosophy of gaming into his work.
Thank you, Kelsey !
Great choices! Big fan of J.P. Coovert and his work.
Every one of those look like really awesome additions.
those mapdrawing guides look awesome. Reminds me of the adnd 2e Dungeon builders guide. I got so much use out of that and still do. So these might be perfect for me.
Wonderful list. Thanks for sharing
I love your recommendations
Great video, lots of awesome stuff for me to check out!
Great picks. I'm a big fan of The Dark of the Hot Springs Island. Such a well designed and put together book. The matching in-universe setting book is great as well.
Wondeful! Thanks for the recommendations!
Great video!
Loved this! More please. :)
glad i got this recommended to me
SciPunk what now? Vein of science fiction? Fully color illustrated melee-suitable version?
Oh no...hmm, is there a link to where I might...oh drat, there is.
More seriously, thanks so much for covering an SF offering. I'm a backer of yours but my main interest is scifi ttrpgs, which gets a little less attention. Was so great to hear you've gotten some great value from the Sci Punk book.
Deep cuts, very interesting
There's so much cool stuff out there I didn't know of. My payment's just been confirmed so proud my pledge has been fulfilled for the indie ShadowDark and can't wait for the book. This OSR resurgence has inspired me to look again at my system published (only 100 copies) 15 years ago (Valour Shield).
Ha Nice, I literally just bought drawing dungeons and making maps a few minutes ago! Glad to hear your praise about them.
Awesome!
Thanks
Howdy.
@@timothygutierrez HI 👋
You are the gem pretty Lady❤
I ve got interested in the hotsprings book
Swordfish Island gives me a "Kill Six Billion Demons" vibe (that's a good thing)
Good stuff.
Would a once popular ttrpg that was mismanaged into obscurity count as an indie? I’m a World of Darkness fan who has come back to the ttrpg scene after a 20+ year absence and my favorite setting isn’t doing so hot. Otherwise great vid and it’s amazing how humble you are despite having a runaway success of a Kickstarter. Long live Shadowdark! :)
It's been wild to see the ups and downs in the World of Darkness games over the decades. I hope they make a solid comeback and double down on their best hits! Vampire: the Masquerade was such a standout!
Ooooh I might get Dark of Hotsprings Island
I will definitely go the indie route once my current campaign is over. So many options. I don't know which one to choose.
Thanks kid 💜💜
When are you going to start being a hated, fan-tormenting games giant, Kelsey?
Kidding - all that success and commendation-blowup couldn't be happening to a more deserving Kelsey, anywhere. Best reg.s from Over Here.
JP Coovert is super awesome. His videos are so positive, inspiring and I always walk away with some new idea.
I have had Altered States and Bearcats on my wishlist, thanks for the flip through, definitely need to pick it up. i recognize Brandish in Altered States, Is that you on page 59?
Hahahhahaa, it is indeed! I got an illustrated cameo! :D
@@TheArcaneLibrary it was the hair that was a dead give away
Thanks for the video. Would Dark of Hotspring Island work with most game systems, or is it designed to work better with specific systems?
They leave the stats out for creatures so you can easily plug-and-play from your system of choice. :) But I'd say the overall mentality of the encounters and exploration are best suited for an OSR-style game where you might need to flee from powerful foes you encounter!
@@TheArcaneLibrary it would work fine with Shadowdark, for example :)
@@mateofantasma Hehehe, I definitely want to do this myself! :D
So many games.... so little money.... and oh the Dice........................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
another fun game is honey heist
I wonder how would look her real house
A dark cave with dripping water, stalactites, and absolutley zero light. It’s amazing what a green screen can do!
Love Kelsie and Professor DM.
