Great advice for life in general.
Cheers Ivan! It sure helps me a whole LOT! ;-)
@@UkuleleZen you should just say which string like 1-3-2-4 not thumb - index - pinky etc. because everyone uses different fingers to pick. Thanks
love that last one!!
Thank you. Quiet and meditative sounds to go over and over. I enjoy it very much.
Hi, Stu. You're a real good teacher. Very, very good.

Thanks Stu great stuff!
Thanks Kevin!
Ukulele is a great instrument. There is no question about that. What I strongly disagree with is the suggestion that Ukulele is simpler or that it’s better than a normal or any type of guitar; or that if someone is a beginner they should start with it. I think for each of these instruments the concepts needed to learn are the same regardless of how many strings or what size it is.
With you 100%! This is why while I teach ukulele lessons, what I'm REALLY teaching is: How to play music. And deeper than that… How to play and practice in a way that is nourishing for our lives. Thank you for watching my channel 🎶😊
Thank You! Thank you! Thank you!

Niceeeeee love it 💓
Happy to hear it! Play on.
Thanks Stu, you really are a wonderful teacher. What finger picking style would you recommend for John Prine’s song Fish and Whistle please? Many thanks
As usual excellent tutorial thankyou
Thanks for being here Anthony!
Cheers Anthony!
I just argued with my fingers because they absolutely want to make me do something else! But.... Who is the patreon? 😁
Thanks Stu for this lesson which always explores more and more this beautiful technique and for the very nice variation around these chords...so sweet....
Right on Estelle! Glad you're wrapping your fingers around it!
Thank you
You're welcome! Play on!

Great lesson! I sometime have trouble finding the right pattern to go with songs, is there a rule? or just a good ear for melody and dynamics?
Thanks Anna....It's a bit of both. Some patterns are better for some songs than others. Always trust your ear for sure...I'll show more specific song to pattern relationships soon with Bob Dylan song :).
Great
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you again Stu, 02:30, 02:50,
04:30, 05:30, 06:05. Love what you do on Patreon but I have difficulty navigating on it
Nice ☺️☝️
Thanks 🤗
Stu . . . At what skill level should we start learning finger patterns. I’m just starting, didn’t know if I should try. Thx!
Can't hurt to jump in & give it a try. You'll want to do it in a way where your hand feel soft and relaxed… Watch some of my other videos to reinforce this lightness of touch. Keep on strumming! Thanks & I hope you'll subscribe for more videos from Ukulele Zen ;-) goo.gl/rMXsnw
❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much for watching and joining in Harpal! 🙏
Can I make a request on how to choose which left hand finger to press the fret when learning any tab songs? Thanks for your teaching too~
AWESOME IDEA. Will do!
Looking forward to it~
Wow stu
I'm still playing with the George formby strum and inside outside from previous lessons .I might give this one a miss 😂
Cheers Ian ! ;-)
Cheers - just another bit of variety for ya' ;-)
if I play a low g uke could i be substituting playing the c string on the and beat for the g string instead?
Yes, you could re arrange the patterns in different ways. The intention here is to keep fingers aligned on specific strings...but YES - do YOUR thing ;-) Hope you'll subscribe for more videos like this one: czcams.com/users/ukulelezen
Hi Stu. First sorry for my poor English but I have a question.
In the video from 6.08 to 6.32 you are showing how to play pattern 3.
Then you start playing from 6.32 (with chords C/G/F/G/C) BUT when I play the pattern it sounds different...because....
I have watched that part over and over again and have noticed you are (fast) playing not the pattern that you were showing slowly...
So the pattern “pinch i m i a i m i” you are playing slow is not the same like the pattern you play fast. There you hit the first (A) string one more time in each pattern. Am I right?
Yes, that is what I showed....the first "pinch" canals be a three fingered pinch - I show that during that section of the video...thanks for watching & please subscribe to keep in the loop of more videos from my channel 🎶🤙😊
the first pattern sounds perfcet for imagine, just add the 0-1-2 on the A string every two bars for the verse and you got it
Great idea Jose! Thanks!
i d like to know what PIMA is for ?, can you play it with any songs. could you make a tuto about not only technique but about how to use picking in songs. Do one need more knowledge about music, or solphege to understand ?
PIMA is a system/language for labeling the patterns used. You can apply them to any song in 4/4 time...in the future we'll be using a song to finger style pattern relationship for sure!
I absolutely loved this video. I feel like a pro??? What happened.
That's awesome Chad. What I teach is not shortcuts… I teach how to play music. I appreciate you joining and going deep. 😊🎶🤙
Can these patterns be used with low g?
Dod you mean high G? Yes indeed. All tunings good for these...just a different sound. (This is a Low G uke in tis video)
2:31
I dont know how u do the swing pinch and release i dont get it. Its always bouncing back please help me😭
Try keeping the hand stable - too much bouncing can lead to the fingers missing the strings...slow it way down & relax as you train this. More vids coming ll the time! Please subscribe to the channel here (thanks!): czcams.com/users/ukulelezen
Was any of these melodies called "Canon in D"?
Yes, these patterns could certainly sound great over those same chords used in Canon in D 👍🎶
You should also show the chords n string pattern images while were playing the instrument for a clear understanding ... Had to struggle what strings you were playing at wat tym 🙄
I hear you. Checkout my other videos and you'll find things like that! Play on....
@@UkuleleZen Sure ill check them out 🙂 Thank you for your reply ❤️
It would be helpful if you went a little bit slower and separated your fingers a little bit more while demonstrating so it’s easier to see what you’re doing. But thank you for posting
I can work on that :-) Thanks & please subscribe to keep in the loop of when I post for more videos like this one :). czcams.com/users/ukulelezen
Algorithm
That is the computer's way of play a drum? AlgoRHYTHM? Ugh...
@@UkuleleZen lol it benefits a video via the CZcams algorithm for there to be more comments present, so I'll usually just write nonsense in the comments section on videos I like
I think you are playing pinch, i m i a i a.....because you hit the A string with your ring finger (a) just before you pinch
