Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE Review | New-ish Edition

  • Reviewing the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, a fresh 'New Edition' mid-range smartphone whose main change over the original is the chipset running the show. That camera tech, MiUI 12 software and other specs are mostly the same. But is the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE worth a punt vs the Poco F3, Samsung A52s 5G etc?
    This phone will satisfy most users with its skinny design, Dolby Vision display, expandable storage and dependable camera tech. Performance is good enough for running any apps out there, although gamers are far better served by the Poco F3, Galaxy A52s 5G and other rivals.
    Battery life is great, as the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE never once ran dry before bedtime even with intensive use. However, the audio chops are weak, as the stereo speaker setup disappoints and there's no headphone jack. Likewise, the camera isn't as strong as Samsung and Google's rivals.
    Check out my round-ups of the best mid-range and 5G smartphones of 2021 for more ideas!

    This phone is incredible for on-the-go. It easily slips in the font pant pocket and is barely noticeable. Being so light and thin makes it a great traveling device without sacrificing screen size. It's perfect for hiking, skiing etc. Brilliant design.

Detailed, sharp images and recording seems better than what you'd normally expect on a lower tier mid ranger. The colors pop too but never look exaggerated. Very good phone and apart from that missing headphone jack, it's hard to come up with any weaknesses.

    It seems as though the NE version is a pretty competent mid range all rounder. When your review spends more time complaining about the colour options it suggests that there's not much difference between this and the previous version.

  • @timwilcox960
    @timwilcox960 Před 2 lety +6

    I bought this phone largely based on this review and other Tech Spurt videos comparing it to other products. Here are my initial impressions . . .
    The phone came without the tool to remove the sim card tray. I used a paperclip which worked fine - but I was surprised and disappointed by the omission. Additionally, no screen protector was included, although this may have been pre-installed, indicated by a slight bevel at the screen edge. My main reasons for getting it are because it's very slim, light and has a decent camera. These 'pluses' are really good - very impressive. In his review, Tech Spurt criticises the lack of a headphone jack, but it comes with an adaptor - and a pair of headphones which I wasn't expecting. So, no big deal, IMO. Prices vary - so shop around - and be wary of many iffy sites offering cheap deals. I paid £250 for the steely blue version from Amazon and am very happy with my purchase - thank you Tech Spurt!

    Xiaomi made the mistake of not including a 6000mAh battery, meanwhile the cheaper Poco M3 has it. Apparently a 200g phone is horrendously heavy to use, so gym visits would be required to hold such an incredibly heavy device.

    Hi Chris,
    Just think, of the football season progresses as it is forecast to do then next season you can have the joy (?) of old rivalries being renewed as Sunderland & Newcastle vie for (relative) supremacy in the championship. Oh joy!
