- Unboxing the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G, a more budget-friendly alternative to the regular flagship phone packing 108MP camera tech and fast charging battery action. This hands-on review includes a gaming test with Genshin Impact and my verdict on the Xiaomi 12 Lite's camera, battery life and other specs. Is it enough of an upgrade vs the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE?
Well, this smartphone is again powered by the Snapdragon 778G chipset, same as last year's model. Gamers can still enjoy smooth frame rates on most Android titles and the longevity is good despite the 4300mAh cell being smaller than some rivals.
The Xiaomi 12 Lite sports all the usual MiUI 13 features, plus a 108MP Samsung HM2 camera sensor. This is great in most conditions but in low light it does struggle, vs the Realme 9 Pro Plus and some other best mid-range phones.
I liked the media chops on the Xiaomi 12 Lite, with a crisp, bold AMOLED display sporting 120Hz refresh. You also have a reasonable stereo speaker setup and lots of great audio features.
So are you tempted by this mid-range phone? It's not quite a OnePlus Nord 2T or Realme 9 Pro Plus killer but it is a respectable all-rounder.

Beggars can be choosers. There are Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE and Samsung Galaxy A52s which are cheaper nowadays

I don't know why everyone is so fanboying 870, I have a 778g and it's more than capable for everyday tasks, handles everything like a breeze and gaming is decent as well. It's also a newer and slightly more efficient architecture.
well of course it's good but next year, two years later so on so on the games are more demanding unlike the Snapdragon 870 chip thats is future secured

Thanks TS, I still miss my Mi9 lite, The size, the weight. This seems like an ideal and pocket-able mid-ranger with a capable chip.

I got my gf the mi9 lite when it first dropped & im upgrading her to this for her birthday. mi 9 lite is still going okay-ish but complaints about camera quality compared to my poco f3 & battery isn't in top condition anymore so i think this will be the perfect upgrade.

Xiaomi 12 Lite is a nice phone, but at the 400$ price, you're better off getting the 11lite 5g NE for about 240-260$. The only really big upgrade here, compared to the previous model is the camera, the rest is more or less the same. And yes, I'm aware you may receive more updates, but is Xiaomi, they tend to update stuff quite slowly anyway. Just look at 2:47 the phone is on Android 12 but the security patch is from April.
11 lite is quite buggy and prone to having the power button die on you

Do you wanna buy a Poco F1 for 150$ without a charger, dead battery and scratched screen ? I don't think so, that's the situation here in my place. So yeah, i would rather pay 220-240 for a xiaomi 11 lite 5g NE or a Samsung A52s than buying what ever SH phone some guy had 3 years ago.

Kind of regret getting the 11 lite ne. While I like the look of my phone, this one looks even better. But I don't regret this too much as I bought my phone way before this one at February this year and the price might be a deal breaker.

The 120hz is smooth but Apple fan try to open and close many app in 20 seconds clumsily and then say than the phone is laggy, not fluid but in in reality it is buttery smooth

This one could use a better processor, battery and sd card support.
Midrange buyers look for future proofing, like Sony Xperias that you can just manually update using AOSP.
Aosp is not really good though

@@honeypower A good IPS isn't way worse to look. I have phones with all kind of screens and good IPS can actually have as good colours etc.
They are never better though and can have some light bleed in full dark screen.
I guess their benefit is that they are almost immortal compared to OLED that has more limited life span.

Not any OLED this is 12 bit colors OLED that makes it capable of 12 bit Dolby vision in it's full glory no other phone has that except for the Xiaomi 12 and 12 pro.
Since the Mi 11T - Xiaomi has committed to update all new released phones (Mi 11T included) to get 3 years for OS Updates and 4 years of security updates.
So that means that this phone will get 3 years of os updates and 4 years of security patches?

Bro i got the redmi note 11! I love the size! I love the birghtness and oled screen. stereo speakers. These are the only things really important to me. 120 HZ would be sick! Cant wait to buy redmi note 12 when it comes out! I like the base redmi phone as i use it with the monitor plus app to monitor my sony cameras. FX3

As a Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G user, I find it disappointing that the 12 lite is not as slim as its predecessor. The light weight, thinner dimensions and beautiful glass back (white) were one of the main reasons I chose this phone. Other than that, the internals of newer 12 lite aren't much different so I'll be keeping my 11.

I sold it after 2 weeks. To many issues, where I have to search for solutions. Like for example, the any Bluetooth headphones connected, music sound was cery low. Right, does it let you watch Netflix and amazon prime movies in HD??? I returned my xiaomi last year and my Google 6pro because it doesn't let you!!! It's all good getting cheaper phones but not being able to watch HD movie content is just ludicrous! Will reluctantly stick with Samsung and getting the S22 plus which looks and feels the best out of the S22 line ups..
