Athanasius: Revolutionary of Orthodoxy. One mans stand for the deity of Jesus Christ.

More than 300 Christian leaders gathered for the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. Arianism, which stated that Christ was a created being, was the focus. Amidst the confusion and compromise, one man stood up for truth. That man was Athanasius.
When told that the whole world was against him, Athanasius replied, “Then I am against the world.” This is where we get the name “Athanasius Contra Mundum” - Latin, “Against the World.”
Christ's deity is still challenged today - from the well-known heresy of Jehovah's Witnesses to the emergent movement - to remake the person of Jesus.
