It is very interesting to watch Steve McManaman playing forward.

I used to have this game on tape and watched it over and over again almost solely for the atmosphere and the aesthetics of the old kop. I dreamed that one day I would get to stand on The Kop or even just sit a little to the side of it in the main stand, and finally witness and immerse myself in this majestic stand in real life. I have to admit this dream of one day going to Anfield has lost its allure for me with the seated kop because it just isn't quite the same.

Jimmy Hill retreating quite nicely with his comments after the game but that said I felt the same in 2005 at half time in Istanbul ...funny old game.

This was our first season back in Europe after the six year ban...So sad that the great Liverpool team of the late 80s didn't play in Europe...We will need this kind of atmosphere at anfield if we are to make it to Kiev next may...

I went to this game. 32 years ago. Can't believe all them years gone. Don't remember that the crowd was so sparse that night. I stood on the Kop next to the Kemlyn Road stand. I was 21years old. A lot has happened for Liverpool since 1991, but, the best Liverpool teams were in the 80s. I'm sure we would have won at least a couple more European Cups in the year's that we were kicked out of European competition and that Everton team could quite easily have had a good go the year Steau Bucharest won it, but for the English club ban.

I think he means the 1st leg in France! For some reason they used to have bizarre kick-off times during the working day in places like France and Italy. 2nd leg was defo at normal time

I must admit, I didn't go. I had a, season ticket at the time but I already had a ticket for a rock concert in London (bought and planned months before).
