He’s said in a video reflecting on his past raw veganism that he’s just replaced one eating disorder with another, going from being underweight and weak with orthorexia (extreme health obsession) to a severe binge eating disorder. He seems to have insight and be self aware of what he’s doing to himself, which makes this even sadder to watch.
It’s the fact that he would rather die as an obese person who willingly got himself to that point, than to actually get help, try and exercise and maintain a healthy weight.
It really is. My grandfather went to rehab for alcoholism, he was frail and weak when he went. About 6’2” tall and about 140lbs. He hasn’t had a drop of alcohol since rehab, but now he’s pushing 250lbs and gaining. Replaced his addiction to alcohol with an addiction to food. The same thing happened to me when I quit smoking only less severe before I got it under control. Addictions run deeper than substance.

The fact that Charlie didn't even really make a joke about Nikocado's behavior or insult Nick, just shows how sad Charlie is at this whole trainwreck. Like his tone of voice instead of being contempt or disgust, is instead disappointment towards Nick.

That “machine” he’s wearing is a C PAP to help for easier breathing during sleep. It’s a totally normal thing that several of my family members use.. taking that into perspective shows how much more drama and clout he’s chasing by wearing it like he’s in the HOSPICE.
i noticed that too, you can have sleep apnea even if your weight is normal and the machine is supposed to help you breathe while you're laying on your back, not while sitting so yeah he's blowing it out of proportion for attention
The CPAP machine is meant to be used when sleeping and not for being awake and talking for videos. You have a constant pressure of air and trying to talk with it running is quite uncomfortable. The machine will ramp up the pressure as the vacuum is lost by your mouth being open. And if he said he has had it since he was a kid then that's even more interesting. A lot of people tend to develop sleep apnea as a result of being overweight and losing weight can improve it. Or you can be unfortunate and just have it regardless of your weight. I've had sleep apnea since middle school but it's due to some other syndromes. My BMI is 19.5 with me being within a healthy weight range. Seeing his thumbnails/videos with the CPAP and using it for views made me cringe.
I actually used to be a fan of nick when he was vegan, he was relatively small and he was fun. I’ve seen him grow into this horrible state and I honestly just feel pity

No matter how disgusting and toxic he acts for the sake of views, we're all human here. Imagine a point in your life you felt the most despair. Feeling some form of empathy, sympathy, pity, or disappointment, it's almost involuntary.
The thing is, 90% of the people don’t seem to be doing that at all, in fact it is quite the opposite. But he deludes himself with that reality so he can keep allowing himself to eat. The audience at the end of the day has no actual pull here, it’s just him. He could stop uploading, change his type of content, change his habits, change who he is… but at the end of the day he doesn’t want to do any of that because he doesn’t want to put that effort in, maybe he’s afraid, it is a part of his delusion, or maybe he’s just lazy.

@@courier6960 I think that is a little optimistic. I'd like to think he could just change his content, and yes, he could. But, it'd definitely be a financial risk for him to do so. Which just makes this even sadder. In a perverse sense, his current financial stability is tied to him making this exact kind of content. I also think, when you get to his size, while you can get down to a healthy weight again, you need more than just "effort" - you need help and a strong emotional support network. Which I sadly kind of feel like he doesn't currently have.

i'm currently trying to recover from a binge eating disorder, along with losing 20 pounds as a starting point for getting myself back down to a healthy weight(i'm currently around 270, i'm hoping to get down to 200 by mid next year, 200 is a healthy weight for someone of my genetics and height, and is the recommended weight by my doctor), watching Nick do this to himself makes my heart break into a million pieces.

While this is half the answer, it's not realistic to consider when dealing with individuals who have mental disorders - whether from birth or acquired through life-experience. I'm not saying everyone has a duty to save people, but you can't expect mentally ill people to just miraculously change their lives or mind on their own whim. It isn't the same as "well I had a bad day/phase," it's ingrained into their natural thought processes, their physiological state is making it cyclical emotionally and mentally, thus almost impossible to get out of. They need help and it's the reason why professionals exist because more often then not, they're more than likely to meet their own demise and no amount of "well they can't blame us for his actions" is going to solve the issue, or else the worst outcome will happen and everyone will yodel the same old "someone should've done something" and the cycle continues. They need therapy, medicine, a schedule, and someone to oversee their progress who actually cares for them. The best we can do as viewers is not watch. The best that people in his proximity can do is to literally get him to therapy asap.

I’ve been in the vegan community since 2014. Found through freelee banana girl and durianrider. I’ve seen lots of people come and go but never the extreme of nik & Orrin. They’ve deleted a lot of old content but what I’ve found it saddens me the difference. I’m still vegan but fuck all those preachy unrealistic vegan influencers.

It really is. My grandfather went to rehab for alcoholism, he was frail and weak when he went. About 6’2” tall and about 140lbs. He hasn’t had a drop of alcohol since rehab, but now he’s pushing 250lbs and gaining. Replaced his addiction to alcohol with an addiction to food.
The same thing happened to me when I quit smoking only less severe before I got it under control. Addictions run deeper than substance.

That “machine” he’s wearing is a C PAP to help for easier breathing during sleep. It’s a totally normal thing that several of my family members use.. taking that into perspective shows how much more drama and clout he’s chasing by wearing it like he’s in the HOSPICE.
i noticed that too, you can have sleep apnea even if your weight is normal and the machine is supposed to help you breathe while you're laying on your back, not while sitting so yeah he's blowing it out of proportion for attention

The CPAP machine is meant to be used when sleeping and not for being awake and talking for videos. You have a constant pressure of air and trying to talk with it running is quite uncomfortable. The machine will ramp up the pressure as the vacuum is lost by your mouth being open. And if he said he has had it since he was a kid then that's even more interesting. A lot of people tend to develop sleep apnea as a result of being overweight and losing weight can improve it. Or you can be unfortunate and just have it regardless of your weight. I've had sleep apnea since middle school but it's due to some other syndromes. My BMI is 19.5 with me being within a healthy weight range. Seeing his thumbnails/videos with the CPAP and using it for views made me cringe.

Watching this man literally eat himself to death and humiliate himself on camera for all the world to see is nothing short of heartbreaking for me. He used to seem happy, maybe not healthy but at least not in abject misery, and now he's just a mess. And everyone is mocking him. It's like something out of the twilight zone. i'm currently trying to recover from a binge eating disorder, along with losing 20 pounds as a starting point for getting myself back down to a healthy weight(i'm currently around 270, i'm hoping to get down to 200 by mid next year, 200 is a healthy weight for someone of my genetics and height, and is the recommended weight by my doctor), watching Nick do this to himself makes my heart break into a million pieces.

Exactly I agree but when you're in that spot and you're knocked down its hard to distinguish i dunno usually help isn't help its just someone telling they don't care because they can obviously see a problem but their solution isn't to listen what he says and find out something that works its "heyy niko im really concerned you need to stop" this is really generalized but when you do things for things you assume everyone is like you even when there not I dunno we have to meet him in the middle it should be a compromise to both sides.
While this is half the answer, it's not realistic to consider when dealing with individuals who have mental disorders - whether from birth or acquired through life-experience. I'm not saying everyone has a duty to save people, but you can't expect mentally ill people to just miraculously change their lives or mind on their own whim. It isn't the same as "well I had a bad day/phase," it's ingrained into their natural thought processes, their physiological state is making it cyclical emotionally and mentally, thus almost impossible to get out of.
They need help and it's the reason why professionals exist because more often then not, they're more than likely to meet their own demise and no amount of "well they can't blame us for his actions" is going to solve the issue, or else the worst outcome will happen and everyone will yodel the same old "someone should've done something" and the cycle continues. They need therapy, medicine, a schedule, and someone to oversee their progress who actually cares for them. The best we can do as viewers is not watch. The best that people in his proximity can do is to literally get him to therapy asap.

He knew full well the videos in which he ate a lot got more views, and he pushed himself in that direction, eventually coming to a rather sad climax of him being bed-ridden due to his weight. While we cannot take all the unfortunate things that have happened up until this point and dump it on his shoulders and blame him for it all, we definitely cannot vindicate him because of "a mental disability" - whatever that may entail - and blame ourselves because we enabled it. Nikocado is a grown man. He is a disillusioned adult that is killing himself because he values digits under his videos more than he values his own life.
If you really want to blame someone other than Nikocado, blame CZcams. They're a soulless corporation that would gladly see a creator die on their platform if it gets them money. If a parent is expected to stop a child from driving a nail through its hand, so should CZcams be expected to sternly punish him for his actions and rid him of his platform. And not only CZcams.
But I expect nothing from Twitter, they're a platform for pedophiles and snowflakes that can't take criticism, blame or responsibility.

I’ve been in the vegan community since 2014. Found through freelee banana girl and durianrider. I’ve seen lots of people come and go but never the extreme of nik & Orrin. They’ve deleted a lot of old content but what I’ve found it saddens me the difference. I’m still vegan but fuck all those preachy unrealistic vegan influencers.

It was seriously like lightning hitting me and I immediately changed the shit out of my diet, it’s been around a month and I’ve already lost 20lbs and have No intention to quit!
