0:36 "it's pretty cold out here"
**guy walks by wearing shorts**
It is all a matter of perspective! Minnesotans are used to it.
We Minnesotans are used to the cold :D
@@1BillionMarbles power through -30, no biggy (jk it sucks. I can deal with low, but when it hits last -15 it starts to hurt)
Welcome to Minnesota
For us locals 44 degrees is totally acceptable
CatzWitz yes very true that’s warm
Lol yup I played football in shorts without a shirt in 40 degrees weather
We'd be in shorts in that kind of weather
Ikr
Very warm
44 for a real Minnesotan is tropical!!!
Jessica Glass Very true
Jessica Glass ikr
honestly your right
More like a heat wave especially up north !
Rigjt
Sorry you came on such a crappy weekend. Minnesota usually doesn't stay consistently warm until after Memorial Day unfortunately. I'm glad you still had fun, and it's nice to see a coaster channel that is talking about Valleyfair without crapping all over it. You're right, it is not a destination park at all, but it is the biggest park in several hundred miles and the locals adore it in the summer while all the tourists are flooding up Mall of America. Hopefully we can get a killer invert or something equally impressive to bring you back another summer (when it's actually nice weather!)
I think one big coaster could get me to come back, I just hope it doesn't take over Excalibur's location! -Drew
Considering a plan to remove excalibur to put in a parking lot was just approved its not looking good
Yeah, Excalibur's days are numbered. It is just a bad location of the park. The new waterpark parking lot IS a good sign though as it means Cedar Fair is doing more prepwork for larger crowds, and I doubt they would expand parking lot space if they didn't plan to see it being used. It's just a shame it's going to come at the cost of one of the only two Arrow coasters with wooden supports.
I work at Excalibur but I haven't heard anything about it closing, maybe I just don't pay attention lol
I don't think they would really tell you if they were going to.
Okay, THANK YOU for defending Excalibur. The local community seems to have it backwards; loving Corkscrew and largely hating Excalibur. I suspect it has something to do with Corkscrew looking so pretty above the pond and Excalibur looking like it was built by a high school wood shop. But the thing will throw you out of your seat at least as often as Wild Thing and corners so much better than that bland Morgan hyper. This park IMO *is* Renegade and Excalibur.
There are precious few quality Arrows left in the world, and there obviously wont be any more. Beyond that, there are so many Demons, Corkscrews, and other loop into corkscrew Arrows out there. Only Excalibur is like Excalibur.
I will be devastated if its torn out, but if it does its all our fault up here in the Twin Cities. We simply don't line up for it, and we should.
The only reason why I hate Excalibur is that it gives you a giant headache it is so bumpy.
patmurf1 I love Excalibur. My favorite coaster.
Worked there for 3 months. Excalibur must be restored
patmurf1 Wild Thing is not bland.
Locals like Corkscrew? Corkscrew is bumpy as heck, short, and bland. Excalibur is interesting, but *is* pretty headache-inducing.
Been out there seven times so far this season, Season passes, meal plan, all season fast lane, all season beverage. I feel like I live there. And yes that used to be a "Red Garter Saloon" Wild thing is my favorite coaster. I've been doing Valleyfair for 41 years.
That frame rate tho
Grant Hemberger
That frame rate was awful. 😂😂
It's a combination of really poor frame rate and a super obnoxious rolling shutter... it hurt to watch some of t lol
You saw it too... ghost trains on Venom. LOL
@@apillow8724 you must get hurt easily.
The Antique Cars were there since Valleyfair opened.
I miss the mini wild thing that was there before Snoopy Land. Am I the only one that ever call the Monster, the Octopus?
McKenna Smiles nope ur not the only only one but my family calls it the black octopus
McKenna Smiles I called it the octopus and the mini wild thing was called mild thing btw
Wait, it's not called the Octopus?
Trisalty this was two years ago but yeah. I think I knew what it was called but I just didn’t remember it when I first commented.
uncensored008 I had the same reaction when I found out it wasn’t called the octopus.
When I worked at valley fair in 2000 & 2001 the area now referred to as chickie & Pete's you are correct in saying it was a red garter saloon.
Monster is important because Clint Novak was the ride op for it when he lived in Minnesota
I love Valley Fair I'm from Minnesota and I grew up on Valley Fair really one aspect to my life that made my child hood amazing I love the fact that Minnesota can stay so up to date with the different rides like not growing up in Florida with Universal Studios but Valley Fair really can compete.
I would have loved to go to valleyfair in that weather. I went yesterday and it was terribly hot and humid.
High Roller used to have some crazy airtime in the back row back when it had the original restraints.
Also Fun Fact: The new lap bars on High Roller came from Ghostriders old trains.
SpacemanDj5
Ghost rider from Knotts, right?
You also have to consider that it was super cold, so that may have had an effect on Wild Thing's performance. I have a soft spot for smaller parks, so Valleyfair is one I've always wanted to check out.
I went here yesterday and it was great.
I was there last year and had a great time. Excalibur is still up and operating.
Going for the first time tomorrow. I'm sooooo excited!
It's not that cold out LMAO
Omg it been so long since the north star came out it seems like that was new last year lol
Nice vid loved it!
Now that you and Legend both like Renegade you can gang up on Clint (if he's ever on podcast again) when he tries to bash it for being rough. Renegade is one of the best GCIs IMO. Also Caribou was founded in Minnesota and you'll find them in the surrounding states. The coffee is far superior to starbucks at least.
Brennan Lentz nah Starbucks is better
It’s rough
I drove from Jax FL to Minnesota; IMO Valleyfair + nearby Mall of America which has Nickelodeon Universe is a destination trip.
Im going to valleyfair in a few days so im watching this to get more exited!
I'm going the the valley fair tomorrow
Psst.. It was called Vallyfair BEFORE Cedarfair (aka. cedar point) acquired it. It was built in 1974 as Valleyfair and Cedarfair LLP didn't buy it until 1976 when the original owners decided they needed additional investors to expand the park. Just a little history for you!! I live in FL now, but that's the park I grew up in.
Sad they got rid of the ride that used to be where the Northstar is... it was far superior. LOL Renegade was amazing when they first built it.. but haven't ridden it in a long time, only downside is that it was so short. Excalibar used to feel so tall... Then Florida happened. Sad to see you skip the looping starship, it's pretty amazing. The Corkscrew used to be Blue and White and I miss that. Caribou is a Minnesota based company. Highroller has always looked like that.. LOL Used to be called White rails and it's a transplant from Excelsior MN.
Dinosaurs alive was awesome don't hate on it. The snoopy themeing is a lot of transplants from the Mall of America back when it's center theme park was Camp Snoopy. The "monster" started out as the Octopus... and I hate it. The "Chickie & Pete's" used to be an "Old Western Photo" hut and I believe a stage show called Red something. Also side note pressure treated wood.. doesn't rot. LOL
Otherwise great tour, it was nice to see the changes to the park!
😂😂 you think 44 is freezing? I think that’s wonderful
I'm confused. Is 44 degrees not considered a hot summer day to other people?
@@delta1525 In Florida the coldest temp Is around 60
@@joshuac9174 Wait what?! O_O
Minnesota and yes that was called the red Garden Saloon at one time
Valleyfair is the best (especially when you go on a nice sunny day! and the "wooden water slide" is not a water slide. it is a belt that brings tubes back to the top!
Brenna Fosteson the log chute?
Yippie I'm going to valley fair next week!
For a true Minnesotan 44 is amazing especially when it’s raining and windy
In late May? No shut up. That’s horrible for late May. Average is like 75 then
Wow, the corkscrew is still there. When I went there back in there in the 80's it was the premier ride.
Valley Fair: Hey can I have some old roller coaster?
Cedar Point: Nope
Valley Fair: I'll just ask mother then!
*later*
Valley Fair: Hey Cedar Fair can I have a new roller coaster?
Cedar Fair: *quietly gives a roller coaster to Carrowwinds*
Valley Fair: Cedar Fair?
Cedar Fair: *calls RMC*
Valley Fair: CEDAR FAIR!
Cedar Fair: I'll get you a flat ride
Valley Fair: But-
Cedar Fair: Fine I'll get you a water park expansion too. Possibly a new parking lot too!
But seriously. Valley Fair deserves WAY more. It's what put the Fair in Cedar Fair.
😂😂 Preach
ProjectTSW I work at valleyfair and they're being really secretive about it but theyre cutting down a ton of trees behind where Excalibur and renegade are
Screw cedar fair. People need to start boycotting valleyFAIL. I haven't went this year and I won't go next year either.
rosierurosie Fuck off.
yes
You must have been here right when the park opened for the season. MN can be cold in May. Valley Fair is a lot of fun in summer when the cold is gone. By June, the weather usually cooperates much better and MN becomes quite humid and sticky.
Omg I went to Valley Fair on memorial day really rainy and cold...But next weekend I'm going to Valley Fair again with my boyfriend and his family so yea! So much fun!!
8:44 Rip
There's Caribou coffee in Western Maryland where I live
Looks like the best time of year to go no long lines , but the water rides are closed unless it's warmer out plan to bring my kids there this year at the same time of year this video was posted
I'm glad the looping starship is still there.
It closed when I went both times last summer and I’m going on Monday! 😁😁
I WENT THERE TODAY IT WAS SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN I WENT ON ALL THE RIDES IT SHOWED
Dunkin Donuts closed years ago here in Minnesota. They do now have at least one Dunkin Donuts somewhere now in Minnesota.
I went to valley fair when it was 35 degrees once (it was opening weekend!) LOL
its around 60-70 degrees where i am in MN right now. I'd say May is the best time to go to VF. the summers actually kind of do get pretty hot. i usually go to Nickelodeon Universe if the weather is too much
Iive in Eagan minnesota and I have been going to Valley fair seen I was little
Is there something wrong with your camera because the footage was rather choppy at some of the roller coaster footage.
I have been to your ValleyFair for a visit in Shakopee there. I am Diana Thorpe Rochester, MN.
thats not bad in minnisota the coldest its gotten when i have been alive its been -25
The antique cars used to be where the Dinosaurs Alive is now. They moved them over to underneath Wild Thing a couple years ago.
The cars they have now are a new ride, they scrapped the old cars.
Offrce Lol I didn't even know the antique cars were moved. What happened to the Flume ride?
scrapped for a Soak City expansion. which is basically all Valleyfair gets anymore.
to be frozen , you have to be below 0 degrees, and as you said it was 44 degrees f , thats about 10 degrees c , so not cold at all
only been there when its been like 90 degrees lol
That used to be called Wild Rails. The mouse ride one. Wild Rails had problems and kept breaking down. So a year or two later they turned it into that mouse ride.
I used to love Valleyfair. I haven't been back in over 5 years. I used to love being able to know where everything was without the need of a map. I am sure it's all mixed up now! Lol maybe come back during June or July?
I should say, I'm sure the roller coasters are in the same places, but I've heard several older rides have been moved. Is it too cluttered or not too bad?
skilletman16 Enterprise has been removed. That's it. Planet Snoopy is basic and easy to navigate through. Route 76 is also very basic. There's your answer
Nice job, Drew. The antique cars were moved into their current location to make room for Dinosaurs Alive in 2013. Wild Thing is a much smoother, nicer, longer, and more fun ride than Excalibur. Renegade is incredible.
#B&MInvertValleyfair
Xtreme Rides TV #B
Idk why it did that
There is plenty of room in the old dinosaurs alive for one
A cold, wet and miserable day is a true Minnesotans favorite kind of day.
@@johncunningham1889 Akchually, I declared it was every Minnesotans favorite type of weather.
You need to come back to Valleyscare this year and see all the changes and also our brand new Slider Show performed in front of the wave at 8pm and 10pm!!!!
If you think that is cold then you should have seen it 2 years ago when it was -60 and school was canceled😂 still great video
I have never been there but in three days I will go for my first time
That's right ...In Pittsburgh ,to get to anything worth going to ; You have to go through a tunnel.
i like this park they have some fun rides but they NEED a B&M
Panda Coasters and a winged coaster
In replacement for Excalibur
What’s a b&m?
they are KEEPING excalibur!!!!!!
their usually not open when it's that cold
I went there today
The antique autos were built a long time ago right where the dinosuars alive is but then they remade it right under other rides on route 66
Hey there are a few different areas for Midway games. I believe there are only 2, one near the water park area ( kinda past mouse coaster ) and the one you showed
I Went to valley fair yesterday.Steel venom stopped mid air
Caribou is the BEST. personally it's much better than Starbucks. Also coaster enthusiasts unite to show that this park is the best!
I got a splinter on the Renegade once. It was a sad day
Wish they still had buzz bars on high roller
Bruh Excalibur is like a 55 second ride and it's rough for a hybrid.
It never has any lines because it's too far out of the way and people seen to not care about it.
[Source: been a Valleyfair season pass holder for 3 years now and been there many times before then]
I appreciate Arrow's rides as much as anyone else, but if Cedarfair wants to tear down Excalibur and replace it with a new, multi-inversion steel coaster, I would welcome it.
As of right now the only coaster with any inversions at Valleyfair is the Corkscrew, which is also way too short of a ride.
I'd love to see a B&M make an appearance there. I would love to see something like a dive coaster in Excalibur's real estate.
I’ve ben a holder since I was 5 and I’m 11 . and whenever I go the line is way to lonnng to go on this ride! Think straight!
And stop getting rid of the old days. I love excalibur so you shut up
Im so close to valleyfair that I can bike there and also I wear a t shirt and shorts in 44 degrees its not cold
when I went 3 weeks ago they open the riptide and just didn't turn on the water w/rip
im going next week
Same
I love living in MN
16:46 plays song that who's music video was filmed at a six flags park (Magic Mountain) xD
They should get a b&m invert
I live in Duluth Minnesota and I can say 40 degrees with wind is nothing.
Spilled Milk
Cloquet here, I can 100% second that. Lol
Woodbury, I third this notion
You would not survive our winters here in Minnesota if you can't handle 44 degree weather. LOL!!
Woooo! It is amazing place to have fun and it would be an amazing place to work there is fun. How could I work there? 🤔
I have to disagree with you about Wild Thing. I have been to some parks known well for their coasters and I still say Wild Thing has the best floater air time of any roller coaster ive ridden.
I think people dog it because after the first 2 really intense drops, it gets anti-climactic. But I actually like the fact that you get to chill out and enjoy the scenery after the adrenaline rush. I don't like being terrified the entire ride. ;)
Nice vid
How much did the mini donuts cost? I’m going on a trip and plan on eating there I want to know if everything is really expensive
Haven't been there since early 2000s but maybe 5-6 dollars somewhere in there if I had to guess.
Guys, I think he’s cold
the monster is important because it was one of clints first rides right?
Is the Octopuss from Worlds Of Fun
I work at valleyfair and Excalibur is not closing anytime soon
Valleyfair is my fav fair
I have been there
Valleyfair is making announcement on Thursday in the news feeds says we're going up side down new in 2018? What type of ride would it be?
+Scott C rumors say a Larson Looper
Clint operated the Monster when he was working at Valleyfair, if I'm correct. I think I am.
Yes
Look for us at the valley fair
Caribou is a midwestern located company
I go at lesat four times a year
For most f the 2018 summer steel venom did not stop you when your up on the 4th time
The antique autos used to be where the dinosaurs are now.
Caribou coffee is much better than Starbucks ! High Roller was this first coaster in Vallyfair.
Ooh man I wish it was 44 degrees rn...
I think valley Fair needs a new coaster it would be a good idea to get one haven't had a new one since renegade in 2007
Yay you agree that the renegade is the best
Valleyfair is great! Buy a plane ticket right now!
What GCI is in Orlando?
White Lightning at Fun Spot
