I grew up with a mom who, like you, modeled creativity. I didn’t just have great fun, but I learned that “I can figure out how to do this” which has been a gift for my whole life.
I hope your little ones just have the best Halloween and I hope before you know it they start making their own costumes.
I can't believe you managed to get that much done with a new infant in the house and having to pack for a move! I have a 3 month old of my own (and I don't know where the time has gone either) along with 4 others. I'd be lucky to get even one outfit done, and it would be a lot more basic.

I made my daughter a Lion costume from polar fleece when she was two. I made it big so it would fit over a snow suit and it fit her for several years.
Those costumes are adorable. And please tell your girls that those are the best decorated dragon masks I've ever seen.

Oh, my goodness! Such adorable little dragons! This brought back happy memories of the crazy costumes I had to figure out for my boys. I used to do the same thing and ask what they wanted for Halloween. (Cavemen are so much easier than eagles, though not as much fun!)
What a tragedy to have to deal with your home flooding, yet you successfully outfitted your family for Halloween. Great job, Mom !!! I'm a little south of your border, but rain and cold temps are the norm here, too. The struggle to make costumes under which you can hide a warm underlayer is real.
Wool thermals are a must! I find they help keep my girls warm the best!

Oh my goodness! Those are two adorable dragons!! And I never thought of wearing a coat under a costume! It was always an argument with my parents over how to stay warm but keep our costumes visible.
Adorable - and looks like the jumpsuits could be cozy pjs. I can't imagine how many pillows had to meet their end. Stuffing even small things always seems to take so much fill!

Thank you Amanda!!! I was very glad I did an iron test on the foil before pressing the seams on the wings because it would have ended badly. I love what it adds to the project though!

With only a month to pull together two costumes, take care of a baby, AND plan a move, it's a wonder you got them done! Being the "sewing aunt" of three, I had trouble getting just those done, and I had two months! So major props to you - they turned out super cute, and I'm glad your kids had fun glitzing up their masks!

So cute! And so smart to make a costume that goes over the coat! Down here in the states I always had to put my coat over my costume, which meant no one really got to see the costume I’d worked so hard on.
I can't believe I've never heard of raiding pillows for the fiber fill. That is such a good idea and such a money saver! They look wonderful by the way and so many congrats on the little one.

Your girls certainly looked like they were beyond thrilled with their costumes. Super mom! For your princess gown you should wear the constellation gown and pair it with a tiara.
You can always wear gauntlets, put the dragons on ribbons and be the dragon mistress
I did something similar at a Ren Faire. I needed a last minute costume since I had a thing about not wearing the same thing twice (I ran backstage). I got home and scoped out the fabric stash and noticed some army green denim. There was already a fairy hunter on cast. I had side laced boots and yellow gauntlets. I had just enough fabric for a bodice and a mid-calf full circle skirt. Since I fed the fairies I grabbed two lengths of ribbon and kept asking patrons if they’d seen me fairy as she’d slipped her jesses.
I never thought to get my fiber fill from pillows... that genius! The final costumes came out so adorable, fantastic job!

Hi there I have a question for you. I just finished my first forest and it turned out wonderful. HOWEVER, I’m use to wearing loose clothing so starting with a corset is quite restrictive. Any suggestions on how to wean myself into this?
