This is further confirmed with their breakdown of “Shepard of Fire”. They said they wanted more simplistic drumming, which looking back I don’t think any other kind of drumming would fit “hail to the king”

The ENTIRE band changed their sound on that album. So what if there wasn't as many technical rhythms. He's still a damn good drummer and I saw The Rev in him more then Portnoy or Wakerman. Just because the band had "creative differences" with Arin, it won't stop him from being creative in his way.
Everyone changed their sound on HTTK and they even said it wont have crazy technical drums just Solid simple ones to get the Sound they wanted on HTTK. Its a shame so many people hate Arin, he joined the Band in a very bad time. Everyone expected to get an awesome rev like New drummer but it wasnt Arins fault that the drums Sound like they are. St. James was probably the only Song they let him Show what he can do. I wish they kept going with him. Brooks is awesome too but Arin had a lot of pressure, especially when he was kinda young back then and he accepted that challenge.
Lagia not ready to die is a great example of what he can do, tbh he was my favourite drummer. brooks is awesome don’t get me wrong but brooks playing the older songs have to much of his own stuff in them that doesn’t make it sound like them. arin played really closely to every track and rarely added new things to them.

Ryan Llarena and now he's not in a7x because he couldn't. He played the old songs good but in my opinion his drum parts were super weak and simple. Wackerman is a way more technical and better drummer.
He should've never been fired. He was a better fit than Brooks in my eyes. A7X did Arin dirty as hell. Fired him knowing he had a baby on the way and everything just so they could get Brooks Wackoff

That whole album was meant to be played really simple, they went for the kind of more traditional metallica feel with that one. Arin has changed up a lot of drum parts Jimmy wrote, and made them just as awesome live. I think he would be a good writer, just never got to show it.

I actually love that song but sometimes i just say that song could have been better with some extra attractions. He is not bad, but could be better. You know that jimmy was capable to write entire songs. I think that Arin is not as creative as jimmy. He is more likely to stay mainstream. Sometimes little changes can create a masterpiece(this also includes carry on).

Yes, he can absolutely pull off Revs material. But he couldnt compose/write songs like the rev could. It wasnt nearly as interesting and incredibly robotic. thats what people dont understand, the rev was a unique, unreplaceable part of the band. theres a reason his name has stuck with the bands following a decade later.
