I love your content...it's excellent. My dilemma is if we should sacrifice space for a standard kitchen table in order to accommodate an island with seating (instead of small peninsula). We DO have a formal dining room off of the kitchen...but it's in a separate room with a formal chandelier, hard wood floors, and is a darker space. Some of these decisions can be tough...especially when you are considering resale in a few years. Keep up the good work! It's very inspiring!

Thanks for another great video with food for thought. In keeping with iMAGN’s comments I would add that one more thing to consider is whether you like seating at a kitchen island. Even when it is counter height, it is a very different kind of seating experience. When building our kitchen island, we didn’t put much thought into that because it seems that most island we used for inspiration had seating. So we went for cabinets on one side, seating on the other side. I regretted that choice from the very first week. We never ate at the island as it felt odd to eat in a row and not very conducive to family conversation. Our children never wanted to do their homework there either. I think a simple island ( no sink or cooktop)is fantastic for all kinds of baking and entertaining tasks but our next island will be all storage, no seating.

Nice. How about a video on a movable kitchen island?

      Do Canadians talk in inches?

We build in inches, write architectural/building plans in meters, speak of distances in time, and can’t decide if we want to use pounds or kilograms 🤣

Nice video. You are certainly quite talented at what you do.
I hate kitchen island overhang. Much of the time the overhang isn't very deep which makes sitting at the island uncomfortable. Plus, it takes up a lot of space in a small kitchen. I'm the cook in my family, so when we updated our kitchen, we didn't do the overhang at the island. I think our island looks better without the overhang, and it's still functional for preparing to cook.

Here's a video I just found on changes to the electrical code regarding kitchen islands and peninsula's. Perhaps you could do a couple of videos on other code requirements for kitchens.
