Wonderful piece and extraordinary work Dr. Goldner is doing. My favorite line "you inherit your parents' genes, but you don't have to inherit their habits". Mom had type 2, Dad had heart disease, both had dementia in their later years. I'm doing everything I can to keep those genes in check. That means a plant based diet, exercise, yoga and meditation.

Plant-based news promotes propaganda that fish is unhealthy and actively prompts vegan junk food from subway and KFC and McDonald's so what is it is vegan about your health or the animals if it is about health then why do you make videos when a non-vegan restaurant make vegan junk food I but go all on aboard when talking about unprocessed food like fish I wonder
      Plus
The title should be why vegan doctors like to hate anything that's non-Vegan I can make a whole video about why brown rice is unhealthy because the high level of arsenic cause cancer so therefore brown rice is unhealthy what about the DHA IN Fish is better than ALA in plants and much more bioavailable I think I would rather listen to what longest living healthy Japanese are eating whole food unprocessed diets
just because most vegans are less likely to smoke and drink alcohol and eat less processed food doesn't mean that vegan diets are Heather at all the fact that pesco-vegetarians had the lowest hazard ratio for all-cause mortality in the Adventist Health Study 2 despite pollution? I can see the ecological and other ethical problems with eating seafood, but doesn't epidemiology contradict the claim that a vegan diet is healthier than a pescovegetarian diet? I don't think I know better, it's just that I see some contradiction here.
This study on vegans' use of saying vegan being Heather than meat-eater has clearly shown the opposite true with the fish-eater this doesn't mean vegan diets are unhealthy but not optimal as whole food plants based with some fish since this diet provides all the nutrients from plants and B12 DHA and more biologically available vitamins A and D, therefore, non-vegan diets can be slightly Heather than WFPBD
Not all vegans eat this diet vegans do eat refined carbs also added vegetable oils and mock meats are not correct to say that vegans are automatically Heather because their diet is vegan
Any idea, why pesco-vegetarians had the lowest hazard ratio for all-cause mortality in the Adventist Health Study 2 despite pollution? I can see the ecological and other ethical problems with eating seafood, but doesn't epidemiology contradict the claim that a vegan diet is healthier than a pescovegetarian diet? I don't think I know better, it's just that I see some contradiction here. Thanks for your reply.
The level of mercury in fresh Atlantic salmon is 220 parts per billion mercury so which means
That a 3oz serving is equal to 85 grams of Salmon
      220/1000000000 equal
0.00000022 grams of mercury x1000 to milligrams then it's 0.00022 milligrams x1000 to micrograms then it's 0.22 microgram x85 for 3oz serving 18.7 micrograms of mercury
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that 0.1 mcg per kg) of body weight per day is the maximum safe dose of mercury.
      So 18.7 mcg from fish
      I am weighing about 73kg that's about 161 lb
      So
      Roundabout 0.10mcg per lb
so my exposure Is within the safe non-risk limit if I eat 85 grams every day which is a lot I eat about 85 grams of salmon 3 times a week so my total consumption a week is about 255grams that's equal to 9oz a week
Now we have to x3 the exposure of mercury that's come at
      18.7/161 = 0.116149068322981 x3 = 0.348447204968943
      Roundabout 0.35
I have to 7x the safe expound limit of 0.1 x7 = 0.7 mcg per pound per week is safe to limit
I only would get 0.35 which is well within the safe limit so at this level heavy metals like mercury are completely harmless to get a negative effect you need to be exposed serval times the upper safe limit so you are wrong about
fish contains omega 3 and DHA that helps the brain development and lower heart disease anyways if you are still concerned about this explore it safe to eat fish a couple of times a week the benefits of fish completely outweigh the negative so stop spending misinformation
If you still are stubborn about not eating heavy metal you do know that you're exposed to heavy materials at a far higher amount from second-hand smoke brown rice has arsenic that's doesn't mean that brown rice is unhealthy like fish the benefits outweighs the drawbacks of combining fish with prominently plant-based is optimal for health 👍
nice logic very mon biased video 😂😂

I like Brooke Goldner's work and publications, too. I bought her book titled Goodbye Autoimmune Disease. Chapter 46 contains a case study about Ellen Jaffee Jones which I recommend. Brooke's enthusiasm is well founded on how she restored her own health and how she is helping others.
Victoria Boutenko has written about diet and also advocates drinking green smoothies. She and her children moved from Russia to the US several years ago. On arrival, they were agog at all the food we have - let's eat it. A few years later their declining health caused them to reconsider how they were eating. One of her children informed himself about gathering and eating wild plants and wrote a book about that. Anyhow, I'm in a process of changing my diet, including making green smoothies, and trying plant based recipes. I was a regular meat eater and haven't entirely stopped, but I reduced it by at least 80%. I no longer believe eating meat is necessary or advisable.

I have watched several of your videos, talks, presentations now and I want you to know that you’re making a positive difference in my life. I’ve been so sick with a VARIETY of awful sx’s that mirror vertigo and heart issues. It’s been the most awful time of my life. Oh how we take our health for GRANTED when it’s good! I pray that I NEVER, EVER take a “good day” for granted again. I’ve been taking some of your suggestions and I’m viewing my hyper-nourishment and hydration as my daily “medicine”. How I wish that I would have been introduced to you earlier (like prior to 2019 when my health took a drastic dive)!
Yes, I’m doing the hyper-nourishment and hydrating, yet, I am still struggling with the foods that I enjoy. I am not a great cook and that doesn’t help. On the bright side, I’m not addicted to sugar or to fried foods. But, if I understand the protocol accurately I need to completely cut out meat? I had a taco yesterday (organic beef). I guess I just wonder why I still feel hungry even after my smoothie. I drink 1/2 of the smoothie a few hours after waking up and the other 1/2 in the evening. I have ramped up my H2O intake as well. I just still need help!
I looked for the group/course but I don’t have that much money (b/c I can’t work as many hours due to my health).
Feeling encouraged but discouraged at the same time đŸ™đŸŒ

Might be a bit late to this, but I recommend natural Acqua Panna spring water if you can afford it for the natural minerals and to consume all organic plant foods with a diet routinely consisting of ancient whole grains like Kamut, rye, spelt, or quinoa. Whole grains are extremely important, but ancient whole grains are the impeccable nutrition powerhouses that mesh better with our bodies than modern grains. Some contain gluten, some don’t, but if you’re sensitive or a celiac there’s some good news. People with what they thought was “celiac disease” stayed away from gluten containing foods that caused their allergy to flare up for a long while (Several months) and ate ancient gluten containing grains afterwards to find that their supposed “celiac disease” was non existent. This was a research study and not simply just word of mouth. I can provide it if you’d like. The structure of the gluten in these grains is much more fragile than modern varieties. People with so called “gluten sensitivity” no longer found themselves sensitive or as sensitive once they tried ancient grains. Highly recommend them to anyone, including you. They can get rid of the IBS and other digestive issues people may claim to have after eating other grains.
Chickpeas are another great food to try, hearty and very nutritious. You could make chickpea burgers from them with chopped green and red bell peppers inside, then make yourself flatbread buns from spelt with some lettuce/kale, some avocado Mayo (Plant based mayonnaise), homemade non processed ketchup and serve with a side of quinoa, a salad or whichever side of vegetables you’d like. If you like it spicy you could make it with some homemade habanero sauce and extra cayenne pepper to really pack the punch you’re looking for.
Keep in mind, using all organic whole plant foods for your recipes will be essential in maintaining an optimal diet. You’ll miss out on all the polyphenols, additional anti-inflammatory effects, and the delicious natural flavor they have. Without pesticides, of course. It’ll make you feel much more encouraged to eat or to become a better chef. Eat plenty of natural wild crafted sea moss (Golden or Irish Moss, doesn’t matter which kind) to get your extra 92 minerals and use natural sweeteners like organic date syrup and raw organic agave nectar if you’d like your food to be a bit sweeter. Both are healthy don’t worry. You could even use date sugar instead of table sugar. There’s a healthier form of agave that comes in a powdered form called agave inulin that you could put in your smoothies or what-have-you. Some argue that raw agave nectar isn’t as healthy as people claim, but it does come packed with polyphenols and some nutrients. The agave inulin powder however has been shown to be very healthy and anti-inflammatory along with date syrup.
These are my pieces of advice for you to help make your food more filling, more nutritious, and more palatable without it becoming unhealthy or just imitation foods like soy (King of GMOs). I don’t recommend soy because of the estrogenic properties it has, which have brought on acute hypothyroidism in iodine deficient patients (Most in the US are) and have been shown to enlarge fibroid tumors. Not cause fibroids more often, but significantly enlarge existing fibroids directly in association with soy phytoestrogen consumption. Chickpeas, mushrooms, and ancient grain flours help make some great alternatives, or hey, you could always make yourself some mushroom meatballs with Kamut noodles if you miss some homestyle spaghetti and meatballs.
      Hope you enjoy!

So when I work it out about 95-98% of my meals re plant based.I grow my own veg - no any chemicals . I go to gym , once a week running. I'm 55 I look younger.Im fitter than when I was 30. Several doctors have already told me that I have to stop eating because I have to give up legumes (they inflame me), gluten, soy and derivatives. And that I can't continue to maintain it, that at least I have to be a vegetarian to be able to improve my symptoms. I can't find anyone who is vegan and has this disease and can guide me. I would love to continue with this lifestyle, as we know veganism is much more than a diet, but the doctors do not support me, they are the ones who have to help me the most, I am without support anywhere. I need books that contain veganism and that are specific to this disease, I need people who have both. And this video has fallen from the sky. I have had Hashimoto's for most of my adult life (diagnosed about 25 years ago). I eat almost entirely plant-based food, although occasionally, when I'm out, I slip up. Nevertheless, that's not more than once a month, and I don't ever eat meat. I eat legumes, soy, or homemade bread almost every day. My antibodies are in the very low hundreds usually, and I take 25 mcg of thyroid per day.
I had my thyroid removed 16 years ago, before going plant-based, and since then, it's grown back, and it's functioning. This is unusual, and had I known it would eventually happen, I probably would not have had my thyroid removed in the first place, as it was not a quick surgery. I use less thyroid meds now than I have in a long time.
I'm not completely healed by diet alone, but I have very few issues, compared to most people. I'm not overweight, and I have enough energy sleeping 8 hours a night. If I really wanted to, I suspect I could fix myself up more, but I'm ok as it is.
That said, if I eat meat or dairy or junk food for more than a few accidental times, I start having vestibular migraines, fibroids, fatigue, etc.
I should say, though, that I avoid immune-boosting foods because they tend to also boost my autoimmune system. Echinacea, green tea, and elderberry leave me exhausted if I have them several days in a row. If I have too much iodine, it's the same.
      It's a balance.

Love veggies & greens, I've felt so much better and kept 60lbs off for 7 years with whole food diet! But hold up, the intro argument is that her cholesterol is down? We've known that "cholesterol", assuming she means LDL-B, is actually not a strong predictor of ☠ unless you get it too low or sky high.. then risk goes way up. Triglyceride to HDL ratio is a better predictor of heart disease.
Veganism is good for some people, but tricky (and invites illness) unless you're very well studied and know what vitamins & minerals you'll need to supplement that you're eliminating. Just eliminate most processed foods and sugars and veg seed oils, do plenty of strength training+ cardio, get good sleep, lower stress, build friendships!!!!

I love that Dr. Goldner are aligned with a balanced solution. Vaccines and nutrient dense foods! I'm still confused about the idea of no meat or other cooked foods at all. I keep hearing contradicting thoughts. For instance, Dr. Mark Hyman touts the "Pegan" diet. A lot of vege's with small amounts of grass fed meat and wild caught fish. People seem to heal on those diets as well. There are so many conflicting thoughts which is very confusing.

I like this talk because I've followed her impressive work and she's the first one to have successes through diet with patients with lung disease (which is what I was recently diagnosed with). Also glad to hear her endorse vaccines. But I was sad that she is calling people herbivores as opposed to carnivores. Anthropologists of ancient diets classify us as omnivores. (See the youtube talks by an anthropologist "Debunking the Paleo Diet" and "How Paleo is Your Diet?". The latter in particular states that humans are classified with other omnivorous primates.) We eat varied types of omnivorous diets all over the planet depending on our ecosystem. (For the record, I've been a vegetarian since 1976, and mostly plant-based for the last ten years.) The biggest exception is India which produced a good percentage of vegetarians albeit by keeping dairy in their diets, and not surprisingly the Harvard Health Publishing pages online (see the page "Are You Getting Enough B12?" "Vitamin B12 | The Nutrition Source" ) states that dairy is the most bioavailable form of B12 for humans (and veganism is one of the major causes of B12 deficiency) Actually, I can't find the part that says dairy B12 is more bioavailable. That's either on another page or updated research caused them to remove it from the articles; just to be straightforward/). Indians were doing vegetarian diets successfully centuries before anyone else, long before anyone even knew what B12 was (it was discovered in the early 1900s, B12 shots became available in the 1940s, the same decade veganism was given its name. I don't know when B12 pills were invented.)
As far as anatomy is considered and our genetic adaptations for eating both animal and plant foods, check out an article from Vegan Handbook: Over 200 Delicious Recipes, Meal Plans, and Vegetarian Resources for All Ages (1996, Debra Wasserman and Reed Mengals). The article is called "Humans are Omnivores" and it's based on a talk by an anatomist and primatologist. You can read this article by googling "Humans are Omnivores -- The Vegetarian Resource Group".

they’ve put me on metformin. I have no idea how I got here except that I drink tap water, still use plastic (pretty unavoidable) and my food has been grown with pesticides. I think that’s the true cause.
